  1. This easily could've been avoided if Rocco had any feel for the game rather than making his pitching change based off a spreadsheet
  2. Robles suddenly cannot throw a strike
  3. 2 strikes with the siren, 4 balls without. Fire it back up!
  4. I know there is still a chance this start goes off the rails, but Big Mike has been as consistent of a number 3 starter in all of MLB
  5. No way you let Conforto win a game, but not let Cruz do that.
  6. I never said we've given regulars multiple days off. Cruz was sick, I'll exclude him. But there is no reason that ANYONE needs an offday to stay off their feet 13 games into the season.
  7. Agreed. Getting players planned off days is fine...in June. We're 13 games into the season, have had 2 off-days, and already are giving guys regular games off. I would venture not too many teams are doing it, and it sure as hell hasn't done anything the past 2 years. When you play 162 games, the difference between playing 140 games and 145 games is not much. It's easy to say it's early, but every game matters.
  8. sigh, another game of no Buxton after being told he was supposed to be playing in G2 yesterday and was only held out for "precautionary" reasons. I don't trust a thing this FO/Rocco says about injuries. I'm sure JD is fine as well, but they're holding him out for precautionary reasons as well.
  9. first homer he's given up since he's been brought back up
  10. I understand what you're saying...but in 4 of the 5 loses this stretch, the pitchers have been given 2 runs twice, and 1 run once. There aren't any teams in the MLB that are going to win consistently with that kind of run support. Blame the pitching all you want, but these games aren't on the pitching staff.
  11. They didn't, but ya'know it might cause a player or two have to play while being slightly tired. That could lead to injures...and we couldn't dare risk that..cause we've proved rest = health plenty under this new regime.
  12. I think Caleb is fine in his role. He gave up the homer and the single, but he's struck out like 55% of hitters on 25ish ABs. He isn't the issue.
  13. The people who have absolutely no concern over this lose me a bit. It's one thing to be optimistic about things, and I would even consider myself in that category, but to just blindly say that things are going to turn around with nothing to back that up makes me question where they're getting this confidence from.
  14. by the way, Akil Baddoo just had another RBI double.
  15. To be fair, Garlick has only played against lefties this year and has actually done a really nice job against them, as he has in his (small) MLB career. I don't view the Rosario substitution as Garlick, rather than Cave. Cave is the one getting a majority of the starts that Rosario would've gotten. I was fine with moving on from Rosario when it happened, but I was under the impression that we would be seeing AK or another option that wasn't Jake Cave. I've said it many times, but a team looking to 3-peat as division champs can not rely on a Jake Cave caliber player to start a meaningful amount of games.
  16. I'm just not as sold on the offense as others are, and haven't been ever, really. 2019 was great, but it appears to be a flash in the pan. Our best 3 hitters are a near 40 year old, a 3B who is a 90 foot spring away from the IL, and a CF who hasn't shown he can stay on the field consistently. Outside of that, it's a bunch of average to slightly above league average hitters. This isn't a top 5-7 lineup that many writers and fans seem to think it is.
  17. If Duffey is not the Duffey we've seen in the past, which given the start of the season and spring, he isn't, the bullpen is in trouble. The reshaped bullpen has a lot lying on Duffey's shoulders, and if he doesn't have it, the bullpen is in trouble.
  18. Bold to assume we're going to waltz into the playoffs. At this point, it appears that 2019 was the outlier for a fair number of these players, rather than them progressing into the stars we hoped they would become. Of course, it's early and things likely will trend upwards.
  19. I'm not sure what's worse to watch right now...the Twins pitchers try to hold a marginal lead, or the hitters attempting to hit.
  20. Yikes. We are playing absolutely horrible right now. And then that. You're ****ting me
  21. Fire up the bullpen...I know he's at 66 pitches and was rolling, but you have to treat this like the 7th inning, not the 5th.
