  1. Burning through both lefties in one day in order to get one out is weird, although Danny probably ends up on the IL anyhow and Moran is recalled.
  2. Cotton with the classic "X team has purchased your contract" to be followed 24 hours later by "X player has been placed on waivers" tonight.
  3. Jose! Edit: I'm dumb, shouldn't be trying to celebrate Kirill and the Twins pathetic AB's at the same time.
  4. And the Twins give a baserunner away against a guy throwing a no-no. Unbelievable. The Astros are doing the little things right. The Twins aren't. You have to be 100% confident you are going to make that running down 5,
  5. Looked like he pointed at his forearm, but the announcers don't know. Came off the mound after throwing a pitch and hopped around for a bit.
  6. The Astros run the bases really, really well.
  7. Dick and Justin talking about how Houston walks so much...they are 7th in the league...two spots ahead of the Twins. I think it more has to do with Joe Ryan having zero command tonight.
  8. I actually think that play was poor. The throw was fine, but he should've been able to get under that ball and the runner wouldn't have even attempted to tag.
  9. I am generally pro trying to push your starters through at least 5, but I really don't get it tonight. Ryan had shown that he didn't have command, had threw a ton of pitches each inning, and was going to be going through a good lineup a 3rd time. A 2 run lead was already going to be pretty tough to beat, but now you're looking at a 4 or 5 run deficit and your bullpen is still going to have to get 15 outs like they would've if you just pulled him when it was 2-0.
  10. That is certainly part of it, but I timed two pitches (it was far from scientific research), and his time to home was 1.65 and 1.73. Those are not very good numbers if they are actually accurate within a tenth of a second.
  11. I assume that's it for Ryan's day. He wasn't terrible and didn't get hit super hard (.204 xBA), but he a. walked hitters b. didn't put hitters away like he usually does, and c. couldn't hold runners effectively.
  12. And the Astros manufacture a run. The Astros lineup is good, but Ryan has been far from sharp, and he is really, really slow home out of the stretch.
  13. Alright blue, that's gotta be a call in the top of the inning then too.
  14. That might be the farthest broken bat flyout I've seen.
  15. Ryan is getting zero favors from the HP ump. Some of these pitches have been correctly called balls, but some have been incorrectly called balls, while Verlander is getting a few inches off each edge. Consistency, please.
  16. Celestino seems to get really bad/slow reads on balls hit in front of him.
  17. Yeah, Ryan seems really afraid to go in the zone tonight for some reason, and the Astros are good enough to let him pitch himself out of this game. They know if they get him out of this game in the 4th or 5th inning, they'll get a look at Stashak or Cotton, where they can do damage.
  18. Heck of a play by Brantley. Sanchez crushed that ball.
  19. No damage in the first, or really much of a threat, but Ryan threw a ton of pitches. Going to be lucky to get him through 5 tonight.
  20. Ryan doesn't seem to have his usual fastball command through 15 pitches
  21. Don't have a great feeling without Correa or Buxton in the lineup, plus you're already missing Arraez against a very good pitcher. Astros 5, Twins 2 Go Twins!
  22. Guess that settles that
  23. I don't think this is 100% the case this year. Think it depends how many guys are out. Thad was on BSN the other day in Baltimore and said the Twins would have to operate with 40-man rules in place even with the COVID illness, although that could've changed. I would assume Godoy/Strotman/Villimont/Sands are canidates to be DFA'd, but like someone else said, we could see a 60 man move. Arraez and Bundy are both back to being healthy, but no sense in activating Bundy until he's in line to pitch, and I assume they want Arraez to get some swings in before he's activated. When that happens, I assume Contreras is back to AAA (and probably DFA'd), although it could be AK. Cotton will likely be the one gone when Bundy is due to pitch.
