  1. Yeah, great baseball all around. Gardy makes the good call with the intentional walk, Perk makes the right pitch, Dozier makes the right choice and puts the ball right on the money, and Danny turns it...there was no margin for error/
  2. Can I change my prediction to 4-6-3? Great DP!
  3. It's a shame that Willy didn't catch that ball, but most of this is on Perk. Bert is right...he never leaves the ball up as much as he is tonight. How bout a 6-4-3 for Gillespie
  4. Ha! I have to admit I do that...switch stations to change up the luck. Sometimes I really believe it.
  5. I know, somehow the single feels like we dodged a bullet
  6. Nice to see Burton with that bite back on his slider. He was good...when he was good. Remember?
  7. Let's not let anyone know...our reputations are at stake here
  8. I suspect I'm in the minority on this one, chi, but I actually get a kick out of Harrelson, although I can see how a steady diet of him might be painful. I like his passion for the game, his love of his home team, and that the Twins seem to be his second favorite team. I have Dick and Bert on tonight with my MLB package feed.
  9. Crosby and Nash are so beautiful when they harmonize on Guinnevere, it makes me weep.
  10. Mauer leading off again. This is why he has so few rbi's this year, since it's mathematically impossible to get an RBI if you're leading off. Unless...never mind
  11. Gibby, you're in for a treat. I saw David Crosby at the Trobadour last month, and he is healthy and never sounded better...he's down 50 pounds since his heart issues last fall. Hopefully they turn Stills' mike off, because he's so deaf now he doesn't know he's off key.
  12. I just got back and turned the game on, and saw Nathan walking off the field getting booed. Kind of pissed me off...sorta like he's still our guy. I'm feeling protective. Plus Joe seems to me to be the kind of guy who's not booable. Plays hard, good teammate, respectful to the fans. Don't boo Joe!
  13. I gotta believe Gibson is thinking evil thoughts about Nunez right now...
  14. That's Smyly's problem against right handed batters...too many taters. I didn't think it would be Escobar that would get him first, but atta kid Eduardo!
  15. Yep, she's a-diving tonight. Too many pitches in the first inning, but t least he's through the tough part of the lineup. In other news, Mauer looked like he had no chance against Smyly. You can see why he's 1 for 10 lifetime, 1-11 now.
  16. Nope, not just you. Miggy and Victor and pretty much nuthin else...even Kinsler doesn't scare me much. They're getting by on starting pitching, even with Verlander struggling.
  17. It's "Weird Pitching Splits" night tonight. We all know how much better Gibson has pitched at home, but Smyly's right/left splits are even more extreme. Righties have an .874 OPS against him, while lefties are about half of that at .439...wow! Gardy has as many righties as he can in the lineup, but it would be better if Dozier were available. Only Joe (1 for 10 against Smyly) and Oswaldo (0 for 1) as righties. Maybe Gardy should just have them bunt. Smyly gives up a HR every 21 at bats to righties, so I like our collection of power hitting righties with that breeze blowing out. Let's hope Gibson figures out his road woes, but I'm not optimistic. Two other times this year the Twins had an off day before a Gibson road start (Tampa and San Fran) and both times he chose to golf on that off day...and got shelled the next day. Detroit has some nice golf courses, so I'm guessing Gibby hit the links again yesterday. although maybe not now that his golfing buddy Hicks has been shipped out. We'll know in about 2 hours.
  18. I think Gardy has been OK this year, but having said that, his inflexibility hurts the team sometimes. Off the top of my head I can think of three examples: 1) Reluctance to employ defensive shifts. Yes, there has been more shifting this year, but still seems to be far below the league average. 2) Reliance on old truisms that are not necessarily true (Lefties will always hit righties better) rather than looking at actual data. It bothers me when he starts a player who is 0 for 18 against a certain pitcher because it is the correct R/L matchup. 3) Insistence on batting our worst run producer in the 3 hole. Mauer's RBI/AB rate is the worst on the roster, and to put him in this critical place in the lineup is folly. Gardy has done some good things this year and the team is playing so much better than the last two years, but I'm ready for the Gardy era to be over.
  19. Great win, but what a surprise! Tomorrow it's Hughes against a really short rookie.
  20. So typical of the Strib emphasizing the negative. Notice how they conveniently overlooked his 15 RBIs.
  21. Come to LA and join me for a Clippers game
  22. I gotta admit I wasn't watching closely, but wasn't that third strike right down Broadway?
  23. Mauer knows how to play the game...ya see him move Dozier up there?
  24. Toronto announcers with a great call. Where does this game go if Correia doesn't make that behind the back play with the bases loaded? Back then I thought it was just delaying the carnage. Now it looks like a game winner.
