  1. The caps on their heads is pretty handy, isn't it? It keeps their eyes out of the sun.
  2. Twins line up: Brian Dozier ® 2B Joe Mauer (L) 1B Oswaldo Arcia (L) RF Josh Willingham ® DH Jason Kubel (L) LF Trevor Plouffe ® 3B Kurt Suzuki ® C Aaron Hicks (S) CF Pedro Florimon (S) SS
  3. If you think they'd appreciate it, sure. But don't do it just for me. But i'm not entirely accurate. There is humor in them, it is just less prevalent. I guess it goes with the territory of taking things seriously. And i still enjoy reading them. I just read them a bit less thoroughly sometimes.
  4. Yup, Nalasco got those two breaking balls by McCutchen with the runner at second with three balls. Nice to see.
  5. Yeah, the forums often lack humor. I've claimed Pirates as my second team since they signed Mientkiewicz to a minor league deal in '08, and he told them how they'd turned it around while he was in Minnesota. I just took a walk down memory lane, and dug up one of those articles: http://old.post-gazette.com/pg/08049/858330-13.stm?cmpid=pirates.xml He has something to say about "accountability" there... Anyway, i'm lookin' forward to a good game either way! "Play Ball!"
  6. No Prob. Alas, too little, too late, but still it is practice for another time.
  7. Baltimore: 1) Lough, CF 2) Lombardozzi, 2B (something familiar about that name...) 3) Urrutia, RF 4) Young, D, LF (i've heard of him too) 5) Clevenger, C 6) Reimold, DH 7) Flaherty, 3B 8) Pearce, 1B 9) Casilla, A, SS P) Norris, B Minnesota: 1) Dozier, 2B 2) Suzuki, K, C 3) Mauer, 1B 4) Willingham, LF 5) Kubel, DH 6) Plouffe, 3B 7) Arcia, O, RF 8) Hicks, CF 9) Florimon, SS P) Pelfrey (source: mlb gameday) And of course, things to think about. 1) Actions speak louder than words. So i shan't ever complain about lack of game thread... 2) Better late, than never. But might as well take advantage of the lateness as more information is available. Reinforcements include: 1) Escobar, E, 2B 2) Pinto, C 3) Colabello, 1B 4) Presley, LF 5) Kubel's still DH 6) Bartlett, 3B 7) Parmelee, RF 8) Hicks' still in CF (and yeah, feel free to correct my apostrophe placement) 9) Florimon remains as SS Pelfrey pitches 3 innings, giving up 2 hits and striking batters out 4 times. Diamond goes 3 innings, giving up 2 hits and a run, and striking 1 person out. Gibson pitching. 3) Opening day isn't far off. Decisions can be hard to make. And chances to make them better informed are perhaps dwindling. Good luck to Diamond, Gibson, Deduno, and yes, Worley too, however they go/went. I'm less clear on what position decision boils down to. That said, is it better to have no right decissions, or no wrong decisions? 4) Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Thanks to the many game threads that have gone before me for givin' me someone to flatter. (And while i'm too lazy to look it up, i have Riverbrian to thank for this format?) 5) Think about... a thinkabout. it's like a walkabout minus sore feet, isn't it? (And, if i'm lucky, i'll get to learn how to edit my post...)
  8. "Please don't let the big bat hit me!" is the first thing that comes to mind... (properly executed in a thought bubble from the baseball as it leaves the pitcher's hand.) Wouldn't say i'm particularly opinionated on personnel decisions, nor very subtle on strategies. I've really appreciated the humor of the game threads last summer though!
  9. Got it. I may leave an "i" in lower case to emphasize humility, as that is my internal justification for a bad habit, but learning to do things the right way is usually worth the effort. Thanks!
  10. (old programing lessons die hard, hence the title) it is always fun to try something new! do i lose my coveted lurker status by posting? i might have something interesting to say, and if so, i shan't hesitate to say it. either way, i'll likely remain an avid reader. and of course, thanks for all the work that goes into this site. (and is writing sans capitalization discouraged? pretty sure i can break the habit if necessary...)
