  1. Don't know. (and am too lazy to research) but it is an interesting question. I believe the first one (Punto) was a little deceptive, as the announcers said Lowrie got caught off first, and somewhere in that rundown, Punto broke for home, and they threw it in to stop the run, and Punto stayed in a rundown long enough for all runners to move up, at which point he was run back to 3rd by Pinto. (And i just thought it fun to say Pinto tags Punto with, um the ball, in the conservatory...) But yeah, you can't tell that from the box score.
  2. So... Pinto tagged Punto out at 3rd after Lowrie got caught off base. And it all comes around, as Lowrie gets tagged at the plate. By Pinto. 6-1, pending ump powow...
  3. I too am a fan of Rudyard. And now, back to the game, where i hope to see a twin or two go Rudyard...
  4. (Reference already explained by ashburyjohn) But yes. Good glove work is important in all fields, especially science. I approve.
  5. Maybe it was a fire hydrant of a different color? (Hope i am figuring this qoute thing out. And my, what a complex sequence of thoughts... i think it calls for indiscriminate use of "like" button...)
  6. Isn't that like asking what the crocodile has for dinner?
  7. He got it! Bottom of the inning coming up. (and i think it was a Punto walk... Just as glad they didn't bean Punto. But either way, bases were loaded with two out and top of the order. Now their not, as the inning's over.)
  8. Lead was nice while it lasted... (3 singles did it.)
  9. (Trying to think too... Hopefully i'll get better with practice.) 1. - Yeah, Kubel seems to be giving an alternate meaning to "RIP". Nice to see. 2. - Getting fired up without getting fired! Er, i mean, ejected. A win all around, well... 3. - A moral victory at least. And i'm pretty sure moral victories are like box tops? If you get enough of them you can send them in for something cool, like a temporary tattoo. I liked to see the bases loaded in the bottom half of the inning. We almost had Burton's back, like we had Perkins'. 4. - The zeros do bode well, though we'll see soon enough. 5. - Isn't a Permanent a hairstyling ritual from perhaps a generation ago? Kidding aside, this is really food for thought. What would I write/draw that I would always have to read? Well, perhaps chatting in a game thread may serve as scratch paper to figure that sort of thing out. 6. - (If people don't mind me adding one...) Mastrioanni! A new year, another chance. We'll see what he does with it. Anyway... Play ball! (maybe a tad premature... sorry, i've rarely been accused of being mature)
  10. Thanks. Sorry it was so slow...
  11. Wasn't that exciting? Gosh, i have yet to get this "watch the game" and seamlessly participate in the game thread down... I had a bad joke based on 1000 that i mulled over for far too long after readin' the thoughts, then i got caught up in other stuff... Let's see if i can remember it... Beer-maker has made 999 batches of beer, and is about to make another, when is buddy asks if he's sure he wants to do that. He responds... "sure! where's the harm in kilo-brew?" Anyway... Hurray for 1,001 wince! And 500! I like 500 too.
  12. All these 1s and 0s... Only 11,000 wins until he gets 10,000,000,000 wins. Assuming we win about as quickly as we lose, we can expect to celebrate it in... late May? Anyway, yeah! Congrats for win 1,111,101,000! (Doesn't quite have the same ring to it in binary as in decimal, does it? albeit rather impressive at first glance.) And for my own curiosity, i believe the figure excludes post season, but includes the game 163.
  13. I finally figured it out! (gosh, i'm slow) Goose is also a term for an inappropriate pinch. Riverbrian goosed us good, with that... I guess that's why they call it a way-homer... Speakin' of which, back to what's important (and i'll ketchup reading intervening posts in the meantime...) a 3-0 lead!
  14. And my current superpower of choice would be to discuss something without jinxing it... Is that even possible?
  15. Sorry i was slower. And just as glad that i'm not the only one to point out the obvious...
  16. Obviously, one of them has an a in it.
  17. Someone reminded me Wednesday was Guinness' 100th birthday. Sadly i was reminded too late to celebrate appropriately... I wonder how good Guinness' slider was?
  18. Thanks for the update! (Stay on target...)
  19. I haven't been around long enough to identify a snore, especially over the internet... (The original reference, someone once told me, referred to the sun not coming out)
  20. The old man is snoring? sorry, wrong poem...
  21. I think i saw something about paternity leave...
  22. (Short version, as I don't know if/when I'll get to long version, and I want to get this in before the game starts) Why baseball? Nothing is better to pass the time than playing catch. And running down fly balls at the edge of one's range is worth it. I played in high school. I got the nickname "Skud" ("back in the early 90's, just about the time of our conflict with Saddam and the Iraqis" as the movie says) because, both at bat and in the field, when I threw/hit the ball, you didn't really know where it was going, just that it would hit hard. It was a load of fun, to say the least. Why the Minnesota Twins? I lived in Rochester, MN during '87. We moved during the summer of '89, but retaining sports loyalties have since become a point of pride, if nothing else. Why TwinsDaily? (I know it isn't part of the original question) At least for me, amongst all the discussion, opinions, reporting, I think I see something of the atmosphere I grew up in back in the 80s. Anyway, I do enjoy following what's here. For what it's worth. (While this thread has fallen off the top listings, and I haven't taken the time to read everything before me, I will come back to it. This is one of those threads that isn't really time sensitive. And maybe I'll give a more in depth response.)
  23. Suggestion received. I'll let ya know how it tastes if nothing better comes to mind... or to mouth. I was trying to think, um, more metaphorically. Anyway, I see there's guides to thinking added to the top. Hold on while catch up...
  24. A thought... (welcome to be incorporated in the official listing, if it fits) Cleansing the palate. From context, it seems to have to do with getting ready to appreciate the finer tastes/points of something. How does one cleanse one's palate for opening day?
