  1. Wait... That was Terry Ryan? Next thing you'll tell me is that Mr. Steinbrenner had the line "I'll have what he's having!" Or am i confused? Is Meg Ryan now the Twins General Manager? I guess i'll just take refuge in the Kurt Russell reference. Things make sense there. Chef is the King of New York, and Harry Dean Stanton is a Cabby... Yup! Throw me four balls, and i can go anywhere! And a nagging thought left over from a few game threads ago. Like and the game thread intros are strange... I think it is quicker and easier to "like" a short succinct thought, whereas something what makes you think distracts the reader from clicking like... Maybe not. I still can't say i got the knack of liking all posts i actually like... Anyway, i look forward to the game as usual... We did pretty well here last year if i recall, and that hasn't exactly been the norm.
  2. I was actually wondering if it was fair game to use an early scratch as a late inning sub or not... I guess i got my answer. At least it wasn't a blow out...
  3. Pitching, yes. But closing? I guess, maybe. But Plouffe/Arcia/Willingham/even Kubel might have a say in the matter.
  4. Speakin' of which, at the beginnin' of the thread, 'twas noted Herrman was taken out of the Red Wings' game. I assume there's not yet a word on what happened? And readin' the Rock Cats' game, sounds like they had a dramatic conclusion.
  5. They say good fielding is catching... Hitting might be different. I don't know. But i too enjoyed those at bats, and hope there are more like 'em.
  6. I'm on board with this. On the regular bases. (At least I hope a double is do'ble for Kubel) That said, we think we could well do with the starting consonants as found in a certain style of epic poetry...
  7. Might be HRubris... I on the other hand, was easily satisfied with the KuBBel of the second inning. I think Circus Boy had a good 3 word phrase... "Lower your expectations."
  8. Welcome back, Willingham! That got Plouffe home...
  9. Plouffe seems pretty good at finding 2nd base. (and now he found 3rd base too) I hope he can make it further...
  10. No... It's just a different 2 out hitting problem.
  11. I'm okay with another walk. Now let's see what Pinto can do! I hope he's worked up an appetite...
  12. Could indeed have gone better. Arcia's doin' his best to start gettin' them back!
  13. Maybe you're in Ranger's territory? I hear Texas is big...
  14. It does indeed have Pinto in it, batting 7th. I can probably type the lineup up if that helps? Or even copy and paste, if i'm clever. If i did that, i might even find one with all the accents and tildes right (which was impressive on yesterday's thread) 1. Not a stretch to be hopeful for a good season. (Ever since someone used the phrase "rubberband man" i've been wanting to adapt some new lyrics to "mr. sand man", but alas, i'm slow when i try to be clever) 2. Yup. Deduno's still fun to watch, and doin' pretty good. 3. I know it isn't a useful response, but i sure hope Martinez throws baseballs. Anything else, and someone could cry foul play... 4. I bet there's a lesson in this somewhere, regarding news and salt... 5. That's a bummer, man! But alas, i'm not likely to be able to offer anything useful. At least there'll be a diversionary baseball game this afternoon.
  15. Thanks all for the company! I guess this is one of those games that builds character...
  16. Hey, at least we got another runner to third...
  17. Nunez singles, Santana got the bunt down. We could tie it right here...
  18. "If my boy says he can eat 50 eggs, he can eat 50 eggs!" I like runny yolks too. Though they can get messy really quickly if you're not careful.
  19. I don't know... That's how i try to cook 'em myself... Served on well buttered potato toast, so the eggs melt the butter if the toast doesn't. So no service staff involved with that. And i don't usually scare myself much. I try not to, anyway... I have never actually tried to get eggs in riddle form. Don't know what would happen if i did...
  20. I'll eat the eggs as their cooked, which is usually scrambled, but tryin' to cook the white and leave the yolks intact/uncooked until the last second, turning the heat off, and letting the residual heat cook the yolk just a bit as they get scrambled together, so the overall result is moist, with the flavor of yolk... That said, if i could get away with it, i'd claim i like them in riddle form: "Box without hinges, key, or lid Yet golden treasure inside his hid." And i like goose eggs with twins pitching and fielding. Not so much when batting.
  21. We won! And it'll be a very interesting season indeed if this is a representative win... I missed the special base running of Nunez, but, hopefully i'll catch a highlight sometime. Thanks all!
  22. "Where's the happy little tire swing?" hot dam! It's the (soggy) bottom (of the line up) - er boys!
