  1. Reminds me of a Zathras quote... "Cannot run out of time. There is infinite time. You are finite. Zathras is finite. This....is wrong tool." Good writeup on the new twin. Can't wait to see what language his bat speaks...
  2. The one Kubel moment i witnessed live was 6/10/'09. I was visiting Oakland, and stayin' with a friend within walking distance of the Coliseum. Top of the 8th, Twins down 3-2, Kubel hits a pinch hit home run to tie it, and then in the 9th, the Twins break through to win it. Went lookin' for a video of it, but i guess it is old enough that they don't have it trivially on mlb. Kubel is in limbo at most... 10 days? Hopefully he'll land on his feet before then? And there's a slim chance he may end up in Rochester?
  3. You called it. Exclamation point, thy name is Santana.
  4. How often does a designated hitter lead off? That kinda feels like a rarity...
  5. At least we kept it exciting. Thanks for the company!
  6. As much as i wanted the ball to reach the outfield, that was a nice stop by the Astro's second baseman...
  7. He got out of it, so all's well that ends well. Don't recall every being involved with 11 dimensions... Most i've gotten to is evil, pure and simple from the 8th dimension...
  8. Some center field robbery...
  9. Seeing it written, i want to parse it now here, as in "now hear this!" But it occurs to me my favorite such song could be adapted to have baseball significance... "fool on the hill"
  10. Yeah, that was a nice dive to end the inning. Plouffe also had a good foul ball catch earlier...
  11. A very subtle and witty comment! Tangents/Normals... I think by definition, they are perpendicular. Speakin' of which, i never followed up the exo-planet links from yesterday. Should do that while waiting for the rain... (Also gotta be some good rain jokes to be had too) Sorry i weren't posting much. It was a fine thread, and i wish i'd been involved. Sure was a wild and crazy game too. Probably woulda tried to add some pluto joke, or that they weren't exo-planets. they were pining for the fjords... (And if i'm clever enough to offer a tangent of my own, i will...)
  12. My, a new meaning for the "hot corner"...
  13. Tell meaning identification, rather than communication. (As in tell a curve ball from a fast ball) I even remember the first line: "If you do not live near railroad tracks..."
  14. I profess complete ignorance on both subjects (excepting a poem i once heard about "how to tell a tornado") but in the "every part of the buffalo" spirit, i surmise that the answer to the first question is acceptable grounds for both the items listed in the second question. (Am still trying to come up with a more succinct way of saying that. Now i admit defeat...)
  15. When it rains, it pours, eh? Some good two out hitting!
  16. Yup. Arcia got Dozier in from 3rd. And Willingham in from 1st. Not to mention himself. Almost, Plouffe, almost...
  17. Yeah, i was hoping that Dozier would try to tag on Mauer's fly ball. Oh well. And Milwaukee plates a run on two two out doubles in the 2nd. (That's 4 of a kind)
  18. I too am happy we pulled out win, and don't need to look too closely at it. Sorry to hear about the nose. My silver lining detector tries to imagine what clever things can be done with a protective mask... (Bowling) Turkeys! May their baseball analogue flock freely amongst the twins pitching! And in general, i hope the way Arcia and Willingham have come back from wrist injuries is portentous of Buxton's recovery... Anything i wanted to say but missed? I'm sure there was, there always seems to be... Maybe i'll think of it during another game thread...
  19. Well played. I don't know... Third base?
  20. Brought to mind: on their search banner, has Google ever done a tribute to Clint Eastwood? If so, did the "feelin' lucky" button have "punk" added to it occasionally? (And i'm still waiting patiently for Bugs Bunny to make his way back into the game thread...) Anyway, here comes Burton!
  21. A combine in the field! That is a good turn of phrase! They probably are more valuable in the fall. He just rolled over on a sinking liner and the ball popped out, reenforcing the description... A for effort certainly!
