  1. So we shan't see the likes of Spinowner around for some time? Strangely sad, even if some time is roughly 24 hours. By that time, there may be a little game thread making its way on the net, hungering after new likes...
  2. Well thought-out? Rational? These are words i am not used to hearing... Golly gee whiz! I'd like to blame -er, thank Shakespeare, Riverbrian, and of course Meatloaf.
  3. Wow. More than 700 posts. Glad to see such a vibrant game thread. And i see the score was... something like 7-1? Princess Bride defeats Raiders of the Lost Ark Not a bad opening day.
  4. It just occurred to me... Is Leia now a Disney Princess? What about Ms. Piggy? Ah, complexities of franchise acquisition...
  5. Concur. I am not fan of death myself, nor of things what lead to it.
  6. Thanks! That is useful to know as well. Not currently on that map, so presently i am out of luck. I bet i could figure out a solution in this modern age if i weren't so lazy. But i will content myself with after the fact details. I thought it funny that i clicked on the bigger map link expecting to get a map covering a larger area. But no. It was a bigger image of the same map.
  7. And it starts out with a baseball game... of sorts.
  8. My car has a radio. And i will spend a bit of time in it while the game is going on. But alas, i think i am a wee bit outside 96.3's broadcast range. How come i got things to do on Mondays? I gotta get my posting in early.
  9. Ticket to ride is a recent favorite of my sister, with the tablet version managing the details and tallying scores and what not. I played cribbage with Grandpa, amd traditionally offer to teach it whenever i am in an AMC hut with friends who don't know it. Euchre club had a motorhead short design, and i ended up fielding more music compliments and conversations for which i was ill-prepared. I like the stories of my father and uncle playing as partners in duplicate bridge tournaments. As i understood it, there was no middle ground, either they made all the brilliamt plays no one else did and ran away with it, or they missed all the easy plays everyone got and came in last. But that probably came through the filter of what makes a good story... Oh yeah, merry christmas and all that jazz!
  10. Much appreciated. I was old enough to know better at that point, so probably the damage was already done.
  11. Epiphany... As the old adage goes. nature abhores a vacuum. Without an actual baseball game driving the thread, what other games do people enjoy? My gramma taught me Russian Bank long ago, and occasionally i go in search of others who know the game. My parents also had a board game called Wheel 'n' Deal, (unique from others of the same name as it has a Squirrelville Detour) And last but not least, somewhere out there is a game my sister found at a store going out of business whose name i don't recall. But it was a 2 player game in which each player had 10 dice, and the only element of chance decided who went first. It was essentially a chess game where the dice were pieces that moved the number of hexagons showing, and the players sum remained the same, so if a piece was taken, other dice were incremented. Most intriguing, i found it, but never played it extensively...
  12. Putin says... Play "Putin says" instead of "Simon says"
  13. Aha, i kinda figured that was likely my error. Them Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim... And him being less likely to be traded means all the more reason he would be around to welcome one Brian Dozier to LA... (that much of my comment i'd thought through, believe it or not)
  14. My bad... Perhaps i could have been more clearer if i had said something like "Please remind me who we traded him to." For some reason, i thought it was Los Angeles... Please don't blame the FO for my dubious communication skilz.
  15. I finally figured it out. The reason the Twins have not given up any hits is that they haven't been playing baseball... That RiverBrian is clever, what with the game thread and all! I wish i was quicker with the lyric references so i could have contributed to that aspect of the thread.
  16. Who'd we trade Alex Meyer to again?
  17. What if i do know what's funny? And my name isn't So Shut Up. Is the feline pictured part of a potential Dozier deal? Doing my small part to power the turbines of rumor... Or is it rumour?
  18. I guess this why i can't have nice things. On the plus side, they still haven't given up a hit.
  19. Twins have a no hitter going so far. Exciting, isn't it?
  20. Come on in! You know you are always wlecome here.
  21. Yeah... Discussions on geographic relationships should be given a wide latitude...
  22. That's pretty good! Where's the on button for the season?
  23. Double negatives nor nothing for me... Yeah, i probably will eventually find my way into the other forums... Regarding strategy in football, my pop said the excellence in kicking removed a class of difficult and potentially decisive strategic decisions from the game. Not totally unlike the designated hitter, perhaps? Shouldn't have taken Les Straker out of game 3... Apparently i jynxed the vikings by mentioning them to a friend. At least they wont lose this weekend...
  24. Are you sure? Some AAA teams are pretty good. Not to mention other leagues...
  25. Any other movie recommendations? I think the only first run movie i've caught in recent memory was Hail Ceasar! more than a month after it came out (aptly) at Capitol Theater.
