  1. How come it is "pitch timer violation" rather than "pitcher time violation"?
  2. So... he's not gonna hit for the cycle?
  3. Double-take... like when Buxton hits a single and winds up on second? I approve of these.
  4. Thanks for pointing it out! (and the echo seems grand canyonesque if you can finish the whole sentence. Almost want to suggest a change of capitalization to artistically indicate it is quieter, and it does its job indicating the scale of the topic, in contrast to the common SUNDAY Sunday sunday stereotypical monster truck announcement)
  5. Hope he's okay! And hearing Correa's situation, if in free agency folk work out less because they'd be out of luck if they injured themselves while working out, and this contributes to them being less prepared for a season or more injury prone, maybe this is a bug in the system which should probably be addressed somehow...
  6. We did offer Mr. Gray a Qualified Offer, i do believe? (PS... somewhere recently i think spelled his name with an e. if a kindly moderator notices it and feels like fixing it, or just reminding me where it is so as i can do it myself, i would be much obliged.)
  7. While perhaps not strictly of the type described by Mr. Riverbrian, my favorite was always How many of each kind did Moses bring aboard the ark?
  8. (Feel free to rephrase the question, and i'll try to answer. Not being the most clear spoken er... written person, myself.)
  9. Ya left out some of the classics... Who was buried in Grant's tomb? What color was George Washington's white horse?
  10. Yeah, i was thinking of saying you can avoid the situation without jumping to conclusions about the person. Might still be unfair, but being fair is hard, and perhaps it is more accurate. Will that suit folk? We live in "interesting times" apparently.
  11. No. Did i do that right? And what were we talking about? Oh... offering contracts to free agents. Actually go ahead and offer our terms. If they sign for money we can offer, more power to us. Especially if its a minor league contract (with appropriate opt out dates) so we don't sacrifice a roster spot. So no, don't offer 'em the kitchen sink. Well, unless it is Greinke, and he comes with mentoring super powers. That might be worth a kitchen sink, and some marble counter tops, least if we have our marbles.
  12. And i'm confused what under means for a pitcher means when era, wins and k's are listed. He'll win fewer, strike out less, and have a lower era? Welcome to the world of 2023 Sonny Grey, eh?
  13. Part of me wants to ask if he always bet on the Reds in those 50 games. 'Cause if he did, at least it isn't a conflict of interest (or at least you have to look harder... did he sacrifice other games to win those 50...) I feel i could gain some wisdom from the opening scene of Miller's Crossing. Question of Character...
  14. Thanks for reminding me of Dobnak! Hopefully he'll get a chance to cross the river. That there's one wide river to cross...
  15. Oh yeah... To respond to the subject... Last i checked, momentum was (in the more abstract sense) the tendency for things to continue until something changes them. So it doesn't seem like momentum if they have to regain it. At least it is hard to say it is the same and not new momentum.
  16. The two are not mutually exclusive (at least i hope not.) Go to the earliest archived game threads though, if'n ya want to get your Riverbrian fix. (pretty sure they will stand the test if time)
  17. Anyone who orks cows has it comin'. Coffee's too good for 'em. (What''s orking, by the way?)
  18. Pinch hitting is a thing... But i'm not sure that is the best role for him on the team.
  19. Did Giolito just change his socks during the off season?
  20. I just checked the gameday for today's game, Lewis was up with 3 balls, and the next thing was, "in play, run(s)" and then words Grand Slam followed. Expectations has been set.
  21. Young was a '49ers quarterback in the Jerry Rice era, no? Pretty sure he is still Young.
  22. I prefer to call it recycled talk, as it is so rarely original. Be that as it may, is there an appropriate receptacle? And if multiple, then well labelled? I never know what goes where...
  23. The egg throw reminded me of a camp experience where i was a junior counselor and we were running a egg toss competition when hosting another camp. The senior counselor had us join in the last round and we out lasted the rest and kept backing up to teh edges of the space available, where i started loosing them in the overhead branches. (which resulted in sporting a yolk stain on my shorts the rest of the day) he gave me a second and third try and i got 1 of 3 at that distance. It wasn't until later the senior counselor told me he had someone feeding him new eggs, which he just wanted to use them all up, and he was surprised i was actually catching them and throwing them back.
  24. Which part of your suspension failed? The struts or the shocks?
