  1. The 25 man roster is coming into focus. Assuming that all of the relevant position players are healthy, one might wonder what the lineup is going to be and what it should be vs. RH and LH. I am not going to figure out what Gardy is planning on doing, but given the likely 25-man roster (Burroughs, not Butera) perhaps this is what they should be: vs. RH: 1. Span (CF) 2. Carroll (SS) 3. Mauer © 4. Morneau (DH) 5. Willingham (LF) 6. Doumit (RF) 7. Parmelee (1B) 8. Valencia (3B) 9. Casilla (2B) With Plouffe, Hughes, Burroughs, and Revere. vs. LH: 1. Span (CF) 2. Carroll (SS) 3. Mauer © or Willingham (LF) 4. Willingham (LF) or Valencia (3B) 5. Valencia (3B) or Plouffe (RF) 6. Plouffe (RF) or Doumit (C, DH) 7. Doumit (C or DH) 8. Hughes (1B or DH) 9. Casilla (2B) With Mauer, Morneau, Burrroughs, and Revere.

  3. I was flabbergasted. Not necessarily that he made it as a fifth starter somehow. But as the second starter?
  4. Other than the obvious ones he mentions above--Harrison and Boyd.
  5. Seth hints at a bunch of EST peeps. I am extremely curious now. I assume that means Kepler and Goodrum, but who else?
  6. In all seriousness, there is no reason to acquire anyone else. It's going to be Hendriks.
  7. Haha, priceless. The Braves snatched him up quickly. The thing is, Livan probably would throw a complete game shutout for that start for the Twins. And no one would know how.
  8. I cannot believe people are actually doubting this. The guy slowed down for one year (not literally, as the SBs keep coming at a great SB/CS rate still). The guy is going to have 3,000 hits, 1400 runs, 500 steals in three years and he won't be done yet. He has not actually reached his "twilight" of his career.
  9. I think Hicks during the second half of 2011 may have put up identical numbers in AA as he did in A+. The issue is that he doesn't swing the damn bat enough. His defense and his Isolated Discipline can push him up and up. I would be shocked if he doesn't improve significantly from 2011 Fort Myers. One reason is 2011 AFL--I understand that it is a hitters' league, but it is a hitters' league for AA/AAA prospects. The second reason is that the tools are slowly becoming skills and his development is there now.
  10. Ok, this just needs to be said: one cannot rely on spring training stats as predictive value for the real season. This is probably less true for relief pitchers than anyone else, but I am having a hard time reading things about spring performances as being that relevant (from Parmelee to DeRosa). A: Game stats are not the whole picture with regard to spring training, and B: Spring training is not a good predictive tool for the season. This has been demonstrated before in studies about the matter. It is fairly, well, stupid, to focus on spring training stats so thoroughly. This is not the Star Tribune's Twins section of barbarically stupid comments, man.
  11. I will say it now. Liriano will be a Twin in 2013 and Baker will not. I guess I would be wrong if Liriano is traded for another strong LH pitcher, but I see this as being the case.
  12. How on earth can these names be misspelled? That is totally embarrassing. What a joke.
  13. In 2015, the Twins will have Kepler, Benson, and Hicks in the OF, Arcia DHing, Sano, Michael/Dozier/Goodrum/free agents at SS/2B, Mauer/Herrmann/Rams/free agent at 1B and C. That team will be awesome. Hopefully the three years prior will be fruitful as well.
  14. Nate Roberts is not moving up to Fort Myers? That seems preposterous.
  15. Never understood the animosity this team has for Slama. It is just really strange. I don't think Bromberg is really in that much danger. If he bounces back this season, he could be up in September.
  16. You're right to be skeptical, but who else deserves the shot at this point? Also, in that scenario, I would expect to see Duensing and Burton (or whoever) there.
  17. Also, he isn't retiring anytime that soon. 3,000 hit is going to happen.
  18. Ichiro is a guaranteed first-ballot Hall of Famer. Hardly any rational thinker could doubt this.
  19. Those are the right guys doing the right things. It seems as those DeVries is a bit too often ignored.
  20. It's good to know that it wasn't just me, then. Spammin' jerks.
  21. Florimon and Mastroianni in New Britain instead of Rochester? Bigley would be starting, then. Looks good otherwise, though I would be surprised if Oliveros wasn't at Rochester as well. Maybe since the Twins have SO MANY AA/AAA players that it does make sense to keep some of the better prospects down at AA for more playing time.
  22. Darin617, honestly, I would hope that Danny Lehmann gets the most time catching there, at least until Herrmann moves up. Butera and Rivera clearly don't belong and Towles likely doesn't either. Daan4786, I do agree that Parmelee could be the exception. Baseball is not "more mental than physical" though.
  23. Sorry, for whatever bizarre reason, the top 10 blogs were in Polish when I went to read them. No offense to Polish speakers for calling the language "random gibberish"!
