  1. Exactly, there is no evidence just speculation and over generalization based on a FEW instances of lying. I have found that relying on evidence is more helpful for "thinking for yourself" than speculation with shoddy facts (as gunnarthor points out).
  2. Actually, I should ask . . . is there any evidence, whatsoever that he isn't 18, or is the speculation rooted in ridiculous generalizations about a group of people based on a few examples of players lying about their ages?
  3. No, I'm saying that we should start by taking his word. FJ is talking about him being 22. Also, of course there is a difference!
  4. So Dustin Martin is with the team, still? I have been totally confused about his status. I thought he was a free agent who didn't re-sign. Rochester is going to have about 10 OFs!
  5. Pitchers, catchers, and third basemen, hopefully.
  6. Do some of you also consistently pick against your favorite team in the NCAA tourney in the first round just to be nay-sayers? Good lord.
  7. If Wimmers starts at Fort Myers, he could end the year at Rochester. Wimmers getting back on track and Gibson returning healthy changes the list significantly. If the three Seth mentions and Hudson Boyd have good years this year, the pitching depth moves from the middle and back of the prospect list to the top half.
  8. I want to not hear anymore about Revere playing CF on a regular basis. He has a second baseman's arm and it is a problem with the organization that they never converted him (essentially flopping IF/OF with Plouffe, who is a much more atrocious example of the Twins somehow dropping the ball about defense in the minors) .
  9. Thanks for this. Goodrum and Kepler are really intriguing.
  10. Yeah, I have been impressed with him in podcasts with you in the past. He is an intelligent guy who cares about succeeding. I have no doubt that he will succeed for the Twins.
  11. More evidence is needed to prove Sano is not 18. We should not just assume.
  12. So . . . has the game started?
  13. I think Ridnour was really good at the 2 position, so they need to move Barea into the starting lineup at the point. I am tired of seeing Martell Webster, Wes Johnson, and Wayne Ellington getting so much playing time. Williams and Barea need to be starting. Beasley traded.
  14. I think it would be good to have a Dakota team represented in the system somewhere, maybe not AAA, though. Rochester is actually quite bigger than F-M.
  15. Are you talking about Benson? He just turned 24 a few days ago and hasn't even been to Rochester yet (even though he should have been promoted last year).
  16. Given that Christian Ponder will be terrible, the Vikings will be drafting top 5 again next year. And the year after . . .
  17. Perkins should have been named the starter and Matt Capps should have been sent packing. That is clear. What might be overlooked here is that sometimes the mental aspect of the game is powerful for certain players. There is a big difference in the mentality of a short reliever and a starter. Perkins may just have blossomed because he can concentrate mentally better as a short reliever.
  18. I appreciate the time spent posting. You are someone I am claiming will climb the prospect lists, so keep up the good work!
  19. Is there some way to convince the Pirates to swap (and give them some money or something). I am in Indiana and would love for the Twins AAA team to be playing at Victory Field in Indy, which is a STELLAR ballpark.
  20. http://aarongleeman.com/2012/03/07/how-i-lost-150-pounds-in-one-year/#comments Should be read by everyone.
  21. I agree with the general comments here about the Twins and how they have seemed to treat Rochester. There was a study by someone at Baseball Prospectus last year about this (and Gleeman wrote about it). The Twins give something like 200 more plate appearances for their position players than the second team on the list. That seems a bit excessive. And for pitchers, I think they were right near the top in innings pitched. I think this can often hamper players some. Span was foundering in the minors. Steve Singleton and Steve Tolleson are two other examples, at a problematic position. Garrett Jones maybe as well. Dustin Martin? Not that those guys were going to be stars otherwise, but I do think that getting stuck behind the Toby Gardenhires of the world can be a problem. Last year's signings made sense, but some of them this year seem excessive. Is Dozier actually going to start at New Britain? How are *both* Drew Butera and Rene Rivera in this organization when Danny Lehmann and esp. Chris Herrmann might actually be productive catchers? Is Steve Pearce there just in case a total disaster happens and both Parmelee and Bates have to be up with the Twins? Mastroianni *and* Wilkin Ramirez? Joe Benson isn't going to New Britain as well, right?
  22. Yeah, I agree that it is a terrible assessment to claim that there is no talent at the upper levels. It's as though people are thinking of the organization at the beginning of 2011 or something, when that was clearly true. By the way, if for some reason the Twins keep Dozier down at New Britain at the beginning of the year, and Hicks and Morales are promoted, doesn't a lineup of Hicks, Herrmann, Dozier, Morales, and Bigley look pretty good for the first part of the year?
  23. Parker commented on his delivery the other day, saying that his front leg goes up and down and too much stress is likely put on his arm . . .
  24. That is strange. Thanks for the scorecard, that is a helpful way to gauge things. Maloney and Wise off to an early lead . . .
  25. Nice way to put the first day. Good writing.
