  1. I’m guessing this suggestion will be met with resistance, but in seriousness, I’d be tempted to go back to Pagan. He’s only thrown 12 pitches for four outs, and Jax and Duran have each gone the last two. I’d prefer they score 12 and go to Castro. Editing just before clicking “Submit”: Dazzle said Duran is warming up.
  2. Equal opportunity inning. Giving each outfielder a chance.
  3. A few more Blizzards and we’d all be feeling better though.
  4. That didn’t age particularly well.
  5. Glad they brought Lopez back. Got two outs on one pitch. At that rate, he’ll only need another five pitches to get the final three innings.
  6. Update: Top 6: 1-17, bb. Bottom 3: 5-8, bb.
  7. Oh, man. As I often do, I’d switch to the opponent’s broadcast for the middle three innings, so I missed that. Classic.
  8. Top six in the order: 0-13. Bottom three: 3-6.
  9. Today’s the day Vazquez starts regressing toward his mean!
  10. I have a feeling Ryan is looking at going at least 90 pitches, one way or the other. Either he straightens up and gets a couple more innings, or he keeps getting hit and takes one for the team. The six-pitch first inning was really helpful in that regard.
  11. I’m on the radio, so I can’t see, but yeah. We say that we ignore the win-loss record, but even so, it’s hard to ignore 1-6 and not assume that he’s bad. But his OPS+ is 103, so he’s essentially average, but that’s head and shoulders above the other Oakland starters.
  12. They didn’t “call him up to sit.” They called him up to replace a player. Without Miranda’s injury, he’s likely still in AAA. And while the positions don’t match, it just means that Castro or Kirilloff will play the infield if Wallner plays defense, rather than the outfield if Miranda plays defense. The front office seems to have placed a premium on position flexibility, and here’s another time that that’s been beneficial.
  13. IT’s mom: “We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it.” Polanco only started his rehab assignment today, and they’ve said that it will be “lengthy.” By the time he returns other transactions will likely have happened, whether injury or trade that will open up the at bats needed.
  14. I also noted that all nine hitters got on base at least once. Farmer with the McBat (Missed Cycle By A Triple).
  15. I know it's Oakland and that the Twins followed up a sweep of KC with the Baltimore debacle, but that's 15 runs in two games out of the break. It's also 9.1 innings with five hits and three walks (0.857 WHIP), one run and nine whiffs out of the bullpen. The starters struggled in the two games, obviously, but given that that's the strength of this team, I like the two-for-two start. It's nice to get a couple wins when it's the offense and bullpen picking up the starters. EDIT to add: We're not the only team struggling with Baltimore right now. They've won seven straight.
  16. You are my hero!!!! I mean, technically your dad is. But I bet you were the most popular kid in your class.
  17. As a kid, I so wanted to drive that truck.
  18. Let's hope you can make a DQ run soon for an Oreo Blizzard.
  19. I think it will be Duran. I think Rocco is going to be very careful about Lopez in the ninth for a few games. Let's get a couple more and go to Sands.
  20. Did they get rid of the pitch clock during the All-Star Break? This is the second game in a row that's been more than three hours. Let's keep the long games on the east coast, please.
