  1. I read he would likely need some minor league seasoning so if he signs a 4 year contract and players in the minors when does his service time start?
  2. Vlad wll be first time eligible in a few years. Walker likely needed more counting stats like hits and RBIs in order to make it in the HOF as well which is likely true of CF Jim Edmonds. Biggio hit .260 the last 6 years of his career in order to get 3000 hits which will het him in the HOF.
  3. Biggio has very good numbers after the age of 35 raising eyebrows about steroids especially doubles. Jester hadn't inured his ankle we would be talking 3700 lifetime hits instead of the 3300 he has now.
  4. Larkin was injury proned. Nice to have someone who consistently plays everyday year and year out.
  5. Success would be approaching .500 with a good Sept. Some good performances by Sano or Bruxton at end of the season would bring hope for 2015 .
  6. Had a power surge that year which one would have thought would have continued into this decade.
  7. We had a 40 year old co-worker die from squamous cell cancer on her tongue. It was hard to believe she died so young and she didn't smoke.
  8. The Yanks had great success in developing key players including Williams, Pettite, Rivera, Jeter and Posada. The Twins farm system didn't do so well.
  9. A better record and a farm system that will produce quality players after Sano and Bruxton are called up i.e. Depth.
  10. I wonder if WAR gets boosted if you are playing on a winning team versus knowing you have a long season ahead? Sure you want to keep your stats high to get a better paycheck, but, when your morale is low....
  11. In Miracle he just didn't seem like a hockey coach.
  12. Interesting to note that the Cubs haven't had back to back 90 win seasons since the late 1920s. I won't ever forget my 1st Wrigley Field game on bat day in 1993 with my nephew getting a bat.
  13. If you are 30 games under .500 how can you have as a team an overall WAR of 14? The point is that WAR is not not quite right.
  14. If there are injuries to any of the FA pitchers then it will be a 90 loss season since the offense wasn't improved perhaps another 96 loss season.
  15. One could see a strategy of starting a lefty/righty for an inning or two and then switching to a righty/lefty if you have the depth and days off the schedule in the upcoming days to counter around a heavy platooned lineup. You do use a pitcher for that game.
  16. You would have to believe that pitch framing has come to the attention of MLB umpires and there would be an adjustment. Maybe they can use technology in the future to determine the corners.
  17. Anyone watch the Rugby 7's tournament over the weekend that was on NBC? Its an interesting sport with a odd-shaped "football". 2 seven minute halves in this tournament that had countries playing each other. My first time watching rugby 7's. Need fast runners. No forward passing. No helmits and protective gear. You can't be offside when touching the ball. Strip down version of rugby. Looks like it is getting more popular.
  18. What did the Yankees sign him for $1.3 million more than he made in his last year with the Twins? Needed a few more years in Minnesota and then could be elected.
  19. Twins need more offense. Would be a good pickup with 30 or more starts, but, would have 4 FA SP signings so if a couple of young SP catch fire they could be stuck in the minors. Might have been better to have signed Santana than having signed Hughes.
  20. If they fall below 2 million in attendance this would be a bad sign. The FA signings and the rookies need to work out. Someone said that for every 100,000 fans brings in $5 million.
  21. If Garza gets hurt again and bounces back unlikely he will have much trade value without throwing in a bunch of cash. Might depend upon how he was hurt and his bounce back record, but, still...
  22. There are no bats worthwhile on the FA market including Drew. The offense should have had more developed players from the minor leagues.
  23. The Cards payroll actually is dropping a little from last year. They have seven starting pitchers vying for 5 spots. And the closer could likely by a starter.
  24. Starting in the mid-1990s the Yanks farm system produced Jeter, Posada, Pettite and Rivera. These four players were the core for the Yankees for many years except for the couple of years Pettite went to the Asros. Cano came later but was a key development. Here's hoping the Yankees can't buy a pennant.
  25. A few of the Yanks signings won't pan out. Beltran slumped in the 2nd half the past 2 years. Tanaka will be interesting.
