Why stop at Harvey? The FO should be handing minor league deals to guys like Allen, Hernandez, Holland, Salazar, Vizcaino, Cingrani, and Sipp. -
I’d take a chance on either Archer or Eovaldi if they can rebound.

McHugh as a reliever definitely intrigues me, but if we’re still looking for another starter to sign I’d much rather turn to either Walker or Cashner. -
Last season Donaldson got most of his at bats at cleanup, why not continue that trend?? I mean, why move Polanco from #2 spot where he had a .378 OBP against righties which was actually 3 points higher than Donaldson (against righties) in a batting spot that relies more on getting on base and being able to steal a base once in a while. Simply put, Donaldson is a run producer who’s belongs at either #3 or #4, although after the season Cruz had at #3, I’d prefer to keep him at cleanup.

Given how this offseason has gone, I’d honestly be ok with either Seager or Longoria. The offseason would still be a failure, but at least rookies like Raley and Rooker wouldn’t be handed a starting position and Marwin would get to stay in a utility role.

Apparently there’s a 50/50 chance that Arenado gets traded, doesn’t sound like a bad alternative to me.

If we’re discussing plausible ML trade pieces, I think both Littell and Dobnak could be included as well.

I gotta believe Garver will still be around by 2023, but in a limited role. When it comes to Sano, I think there’s a near definate chance he leaves for a big market team. I really hope Buxton and Rosario are retained, although I wouldn’t grossly overpay to keep them around. -
The most realistic plan I can think is signing Donaldson, signing Buchter, and trading for Caleb Smith.

Unless the FO has already decided that either Thorpe or Smeltzer are going to be in the rotation, these are the left handed options available on the trade market. Ray Rodriguez Price Gonzales Boyd Quintana Lester Newcomb Duffy Freeland Happ Matz

Another high leverage lefty and our bullpen might finally be capable withstanding a WS run. Fortunately, that guy might already be on the 40 man roster (Smeltzer). Although, with lefties like Buchter and Cingrani available, why take a risk??

Clippards’s a nice signing, but I think the Twins could still use another left handed reliever because I’m not comfortable rolling into ST with Hardy, Smeltzer, and Thorpe as our options to be the bullpen’s 2nd lefty. Obviously Buchter stands out as the guy we should sign, but assuming we don’t I wouldn’t mind the FO picking up any of Sipp, Cingrani, and or Erlin either. -
If Texas can get Kluber for DeShields and Clase, getting Ray shouldn’t be too difficult, right??

I agree, although I’d probably put Perez ahead of Smyly and Moore due to familiarity and better stuff; assuming he’s even willing to move to the bullpen.

I don’t disagree, but it’s at least interesting to think about. Theoretically, if it did happen I’d feel much more comfortable about a Keuchel signing.

Rockies have stated that they’re open to trading Arenado, should we??

If we’re gonna pivot from Bumgarner as the “impact” pitcher we’re supposedly in search of, it better not be towards Ryu or Keuchel. Really not a fan of Price, Smith, or Archer for various reasons, so if it’s not Ray or Boyd, the FO should go hard after younger options with potential like Marquez, E-Rod, Alcantara, and Montas.

You’re probably right, but depending on who we replace Cron with could potentially change that.

If we miss on Bumgarner, I’d rather not take a chance on Ryu. I mean, there’s plenty of left handed option other than those two, right?? I’m suprised to not have heard any interest in Keuchel yet. In addition, the trade market also has Ray, Gonzales, Quintana, Price, Happ, and maybe even E-Rod who’d be my ideal target if we fail to sign Bumgarner.

Why not Arenado?? We got the payroll and the prospects to make it happen. Plus I think the Rockies are nearing a rebuilding phase of some sort, now’s the best time to make an offer.

I’m not gonna refute any of what you posted about Wheeler because I’m a fan of him too, but are we really gonna pretend that Keuchel doesn’t have a good postseason track record... If it were up to me, Wheeler and Keuchel would’ve been signed weeks ago.

As much as I’m interested in Wheeler’s untapped potential, I feel like we’d be taking the same risk Boston took when signing Eovaldi; only a much bigger. Again, I’m not opposed to signing Wheeler, but I’d feel much more comfortable in signing a trio of Pineda, Keuchel, and Porcello to short term deals instead.
