  1. I'm outraged at the amount of outrage present in every single forum post on this site. That's a very profound emotion considering the subject matter.
  2. I didn't like the move and think he should have continued. If he walks Butler then yank him. Could have easily thrown 1 pitch for a double play. More than anything I like the demeanor of this albers. He acts like he wants to shove the ball up somebody's ass and it was fun to watch. He's the only reason I tuned in.
  3. I don't understand why they demoted Hicks. For friggin Clete Thomas to get all the playing time? I'm sure Clete is nice to puppies and little kids but he's almost as overmatched as Hicks and clearly not as good of a defender. It really comes down to the team's refusal to aggressively spend money on bringing in impact players. Their efforts on starting pitching this off season was cheap and quantity over quality. The new stadium was supposed to be able to allow them to keep their best players. Clearly that didn't happen. What's happened is exactly what the organization deserves and a predictable tragedy for their fans.
  4. The story is really the same old story. Morneau unable to get a big hit in a big spot for his team. That at bat was not just bad but absolutely pathetic.
  5. I think this season is more reflective of the kind pitcher he is than last year. Nothing he throws has snap or late break. He's a lower tier MLB starting pitcher at best.
  6. Terry Ryan wouldn't lie about something like that.
  7. Seth, 1)Do you see Sano getting a call up this year? It's impossible to think he wont be a starter for the twins next year. 2)Is he the best prospect in Twins history?
  8. Seth, Has Gibson confirmed to you that he's on an innings limit? Somewhere I heard that he was asked about it and said the Twins haven't said anything to him about one.
  9. There seems to be a difference between "advanced stats" and "saber" stats. Not sure there is a clear definition between the two because many people who like them or reject them lump them together. Saber is almost completely mathematical, theory and subjective (ie. zone ratings) where advanced stats(pitch fx) is completely scientific. Am I right or am I missing something?
  10. They are yet again an absolutely unwatchable ball team. It's as bad as watching the Wolves play mid-season. Blame Gardy or whichever player you want but this in on the Pohlad family. Winning will never be more important than beating last year's profits. I hope Gibson gets called up. He's 25! If they're waiting for more consistency out of him I can only wonder what they are waiting for with their current rotation.
  11. The starting pitching is not just terrible it's terrible with question marks. Of the new guys, 2 are coming back from arm surgeries and the other lost his starting role with pittsburgh last year...Twice. Diamond, their best of 2012 also coming back from surgery. Naming the opening day starter was an elimination process if not russian roulette. It's bad, like the worst in the game and it's not even close. 100 losses is a possibility this year. I don't see where they upgraded defensively. Hicks is great but span was good too. That leaves rf, lf, and 3b as pretty big liabilities. Of course the s.s. is rookie who at best cannot hit.
  12. This staff is going to be a disaster. They literally have zero chance to even be competitve. 100 losses is a legitimate possibility.
  13. 8.8 h/9 3.72 ERA in 275 IP career minor league. Not what i would call dominant, especially from an elite level college pitching prospect.
  14. I'm concerned about his cieling at this point. He's 25 already and has never been dominant at any level in the minors. I doubt this decision has anything to do with service time. Most alarming and is how quickly they cut him this spring.
  15. He should move a few inches over on the rubber. Look how it worked for Capps and Blacky.
  16. Pressly works with a three pitch repertoire that is comprised of a mid-90s two-seam fastball, exquisite tilt on his curve and a good changeup Did this guy add velo?
  17. Stat's are extremely valuable with placing value or determining ability in respect to their peers with major league players. They say less about minor league players and absolutely nothing about amatuer players. (The article headline mentions "statistical data" but only pitch fx is discussed in relation to that. I will assume it means newer sabermetrics too.) None of this really matters because the Twins always seek out the cheapest talent available. Stats or Scouting is always trumped by who can do the job for the cheapest possible price.
  18. I will always have an active interest in the Twins but the last two summers have been difficult to watch on TV much less making the sizable investment to go to target field. I check into each game several times but after May I bet I didn't watch 10 games start to finish. It's easier and much less of a time commitment to follow blogs and box scores to know what I want to know about them. At least for as long as they are losing 90 games a season.
  19. Some of the most jaw-dropping factoids/statoids have come from Nolan Ryan. He threw 37 no,one, or two hitters. Struck out the side on 9 pitches in both leagues. 10 or more k's 215 times. 5714k's will never be touched. A pitches would have to average 200k's for 28 years to do this. It's almost as safe as Cy Young's 511 wins. All done in fairly modern times. Probably not what you were after for comments but I have been in awe of some of his accomplishments. Never forget him throwing 97mph when he was 46. Unreal.
  20. Parmalee needs to play, Morneau isn't going to bring much value and the Twins aren't going to be contenders. Makes zero sence keeping him but they are likely stuck with him. If you were a GM would you trade prospects/players, and pick up his 14million dollar price tag? I wouldn't. He's only an average 1st baseman now.
  21. His drop and rock motion by itself reminds me of Verlander's delivery.
  22. If the Twins add 20 million dollars it would be unprecedented and until I see them do it for the 1st time I'm not predicting it here. I'm using their entire franchise history as my basis for formulating that opinion. Willingham was nice and showed a step forward but they knew they were saving money because they let Cuddy and Kubel go.
