  1. Three balls over 100mph off him in the 1st. But no runs. No matter, since we are in SSS territory now…
  2. And that was only the first crazy play of the inning! The applicable rule talks about the ball going “through or under the fence [or scoreboard etc]”. The ball was under that fence padding. It was easy to pick up but the rule doesn’t touch on that aspect of it. I also give Kike Hernandez (LF) credit for knowing the rule and working the umps too, and to the Blue Jays for treating it like a live ball,
  3. I thought the call was within the spirit of the rule. But as a fan, it’s hard to know. The runner circled the bases and scored, which excited people. With a normal bounce, the batter-runner only gets as far as second base.
  4. He was “feelin’ it” Got too excited. Like when Punto ran through that stop sign at 3rd in 2009 or 2010
  5. what are the odds of a ball striking that exact spot i guess the tying run probably is at second either way so.. maybe not a huge deal?
  6. THIS SPORT NEVER CEASES TO AMAZE ME
  7. If Teoscar Hernandez and Seranthony Dominguez switched uniforms, would a Twins fan be able to tell the difference?
  8. A half-swing with his lead arm coming off the bat.
  9. Nice 1-2-3 job by Louie, considering the strike zone that inning
  10. There is one person on the entire planet who understands the reasoning behind the Varland trade (well, two people, if you count the Jays GM)
  11. Looks like Betts came up with a big base hit, and not a cheap one. He needed that like a wilting plant needs water. I love Betts (platonically) so that makes me ‘opposite-of-sad’ (I also love Game sevens)
  12. The Twins still haven’t replaced Astudillo… The two of you combined can recreate La Tortuga in the aggregate! @Parfigliano @ashbury
  13. I’m not actually down on Shelton, just based on tidbits I would pick up while listening to the radio during the 2019 season. that said, we need someone who will do this to the data Falvey is feeding us “here are your spreadsheets”
  14. Dodgers really digging a hole for themselves. Blue Jays pitching is overall good to great this series.
  15. Hopefully it was a strategy to wear down Ohtani, since he is scheduled to start tonight. Combined with it being a close game.
  16. just found out, this is actually the first game of a double-header
  17. I know a lot of fans asking for results—fans that don’t even post here! I get that you don’t read these but still. Anyway, the MLB draft is different now, too, than it was during the Houston and Washington teardowns. Too soon to tell about Baltimore, but I rate them a soft buy (I am optimistic for them) Going forward in 2026, a 100-loss season will still get you better than 50/50 chances of landing a top 3 pick (woo-hoo! 🙂 100 losses! great job everyone!) but you cannot really count on getting the top pick year after year like those teams did. I went back, and Houston actually swung and missed on a couple those. Toronto did not do a hard reset, and have a manager in the mold of Rocco Baldelli, and yet here they are. Many ways to get to the promised land now in the 3 wildcards era.
  18. My Siskel & Ebert review would be two thumbs down. If you’ve heard one Falvey interview, you’ve heard them all. I have met guys in my professional life in the same mold; I wouldn’t call them all competent. Maybe a few were. I do give credit for Falvey breaking in to the game as a self scout, however. These types of guys in my experience always say mostly the same things, in the same breezy voice, regardless of setting or topic. With a small edge of “I told you so” in their voice when things are going well (eg, postseason). I always preferred Levine just for his directness. There is a radio program called Inside Twins that airs on Sundays during the regular season. Falvey normally appears on this program about once every 3 weeks or so, rotating with Rocco and another person, but after this last trade deadline he did not appear as a guest on this program until mid-September, something like six or seven weeks. 6-7, as the kids would say it.
  19. what if it was baby Hitler? ... off topic?
  20. And now the pitcher holds the ball, and now he lets it go, and now the air is shattered by the force of the free swingin’ Mariner’s blow….
  21. Here we go…. (anyone expecting a Mitch Garver sighting?)
  22. Edit: also line drives
