  1. Ah... more evidence of the existence of clutch, even if we don't have a metric for it... Or luck... No metric for that either. We're really unlucky, or really un-clutch, or a combo platter of the two. I hope it's bad luck, cuz I'm a big believer in the law of averages to the statistical mind, and karma for those more spiritual in nature. I think the Universe/Bell-Curve owe us some good luck going forward after this start, and I'm optimistic that as long as we keep pitching well, we'll be ok. Also, some softer competition would help.
  2. This is just super.
  3. About fricken time Brian.. Here come the bats!
  4. I was wrong, send them both down.
  5. And I'm usually more in defense of veteran replacement level players vs. prospects who will probably be replacement level players but have upside, but I want to see Park and Buxton keep playing. The team's struggles aren't really their fault at this point.
  6. Just to complete the snake eating it's own tail, that response was posted in response to another post using the same 14 AB's to make a different point about Park.
  7. Yes, nowhere near 60%. Not even half that. His OPS given the K's was the discussion. But my point is it's moot. Park won't strike out 60% of the time, thus making his OPS more sustainable. .825 sustainable, maybe not. K's should normalize for Park and Buxton. Hitting a breaking ball is hard, but talented hitters learn.
  8. How sustainable is a 60% K rate for a hitter who can square them up like that?
  9. Ok, I'm sick of the organization giving the veterans a free pass on getting prepared for the season. It's clear they're not getting themselves prepared for actual competition. And I think it sends a bad message to the younger players on spring preparation. It's one thing to allow someone who naturally works very hard to prepare them self, it's another to allow every vet on losing teams to simply go through the motions. It started with Nathan coming in throwing 88 mph, and now it's all our guys coming in out of shape, throwing 75%, doing just enough to prepare their bodies, but obviously little to prepare their minds for the actual competition. Not to say we're being lead by losers, but our leaders have definitely lost a ton more than they've won. Are we preparing to lose or win?
  10. Settle down Mr. The Stick, settle down...
  11. Is Santana that much better of a hitter than Arcia? Or is Arcia even healthy? Or on the team?
  12. Really nice at bat Dozier. Get yourself into scoring position.

  14. Seoul Brotha!! The Korean Gangsta!!!! Yes!!
  15. Right guy up I guess...
  16. The wind knocked down that ball hit to Sano clearly. Still blaming the wind.
  17. This is going south fast...
  18. Sick of this wind... Might have been 3 HR's this inning on a humid July night...
  19. Worse base running or call by Dick?
  20. It certainly doesn't change the odds of a Sano injury, but it sure does make the worst case scenario a little easier to imagine. So yeah, I'm a bit more worried, but it's not just Schwarber's injury. Of course, experience in the outfield helps prevent collisions, and Sano has demonstrated his lack of experience. He doesn't look very natural out there even for his size, and he hasn't seemed dedicated to losing weight which makes me wonder if he'll ever look comfortable out there. The harder he has to work to simply track the ball, the less he can pay attention to thing like walls and Doziers. On the plus side, he's looked pretty cautious out there, on the negative side, that's often when guys get hurt.
  21. Have we been talking about Schwarber's injury at all? Collided out in with Folwer out in CF and carted off with a knee injury. I'm officially done with Sano in right... I was wrong about his athletic ability. He's too valuable to throw out there now. Maybe re-evaluate after he continues to work on his skills during batting practice.
