  1. Just FYI, there wasn't a requirement that you read this thread.
  2. This is a conversation about Hicks's outfield defense, isn't it? And for the record, I'm pretty tired of the all offense, no defense corner outfielder philosophy, especially when "all offense" means mediocre.
  3. Have we blamed Rick Anderson for the Twins' bad outfield defense?
  4. How did you take what I said and conclude that people want to make the Twins worse? Pinto has a much higher offensive ceiling than Suzuki, and I think it's best if he's playing the majority of the time. If the Twins want to keep Suzuki around to catch 1/3 of the time, fine, but it seems like they'd get much more value out of trading him for a player who has the potential to contribute in a meaningful way for the Twins next year and the year(s) after that. Suzuki has always been an okay catcher, but this offensive outburst is clearly outside his norm, and there's no reason to keep him around based on that.
  5. I would much rather that Dozier stay where he is and the Twins come up with a legitimate 3rd, 4th, and 5th offensive options on the team. He's fast, can steal a base, runs the bases well, and gets on base at a good clip. All of those are things you want in a leadoff guy. If the bottom of the order hadn't hit .250 (when you ADD the BAs together) for the first month of the season, he wouldn't be 4th on his own team in RBIs
  6. Additional note from that article: In discussing why the Twins OF is bad defensively, he tosses in facts about Hicks and Fuld, noting that they aren't hitting well. Author kinda rambles and jumps all over the place before coming to his shocking conclusion--the Twins aren't going to make the playoffs. Mostly it discusses how the Twins have a deadly combo of pitchers who don't strike people out and a terrible defensive outfield. Hard to argue with it. I saw two slow-rolling ground balls turned into a double and triple during yesterday's game.
  7. Can we get some sort of TD "Aricia is eligible to come up" countdown clock?
  8. Re: Hicks has "to know how the wind plays at Target Field." This is another reason that, in my opinion, Hicks needs to stay up and play through the struggles. Give him until May 1 of next year to get his act together, both on offense and defense. That'll give him just over 1 year's worth of PAs and appearances in CF. If he can't show progress in that time, well...
  9. It was my impression that Suzuki was picked up to bridge the gap between Mauer and whoever takes his place permanently. Why would the Twins extend him now, because he's had a good month and a half?
  10. Well it was a good homestand, anyway.
  11. Who do we blame for Dozier for trying to bunt...ever?
  12. Completely agree with this. Also if Nolasco gets over there, we aren't having this convo. The confluence of the two mistakes is what lead to the baserunner. And for some reason (it seems to me), official scorers/MLB have a "if it's more than one person's fault, it's nobody's fault" approach.
  13. Who says "it's everyone's fault but Mauer"? And that's not an error even 10 times out of 1000. Should Mauer have fielded cleanly? Sure that would have been nice. But he knocked the ball down and kept it in the infield, and kept the option of a PO available had Nolasco even remotely done his job.
  14. Maybe they don't feel it necessary to criticize Mauer, what with the hoards of Twins fans who are all too eager to criticize him for breathing wrong?
  15. I'm not so sure I want a guy on the team who wasn't good enough to make/stay on the team in the first place.
  16. Agree. This has been a pretty bad start by him that luckily has only lead to 3 runs.
  17. Is Mastro back with the Twins?
  18. This has been a disappointing inning for the Twins. This has been a disappointing season for Nolasco.
  19. Ugh not a good pitch to swing at for stirke 3
  20. Hicks now has a higher OBP than Plouffe. Unexpected.
  21. I'm starting to lose faith that Mauer will ever get another XBH
  22. That was a good example of why I'd prefer a bit more speed in the outfield. That was a slow roller that got all the way to the outfield wall
  23. How far does the rubber band stretch to the positive before it snaps?
  24. Well that and food poisoning, but point taken.
