    If the Yankees called and said if you were willing they would take Mauer & Nolasco's contracts off your books for a PTBNL. wouldja? I really hate that I'd at least consider it. Morneau this year gives me hope for Mauer.

    They've dropped payroll every year since the 1st in the new park EASILY 20-30 mill under the approved 52% of revenue. Now this year they receive 25 extra mill in tv revenue & are still 15 mill under what was spent in the first year at target field. A 1 year 7 mill deal & you want to throw it in peoples faces with over the 60-80 mill of unspent payroll over the last few years that's just going into Pohlads pockets that this shows they & Ryan aren't cheap. Good luck with that argument.

    This really bothers me, not because of the food stamp deal. I have 0 problem contributing to that for society in general. This reminds me of bad business we see every day in our own employer's. Like letting the best talent slip away for lazy sub standard ones to save on payroll then spending 3X that budget on giant big screen monitors no one uses.

    This stage should soon be reserved for the likes of Meyer already being on a IP limit to get some good experience & confidence in low leverage situations for next year. I don't understand how this doesnt happen more often.

    Occaisionally it hurts him but I love how aggressive Escobar is in the field. He attacks everything.

    Don't follow the college ranks enough to have known him before this but after reading up on him a little like the pick. I guarantee they start him out as a starter and see if he sticks while giving him an opportunity to work on his breaking stuff.

    When they showed the replay slow, the tip of his foot caught while he was starting to go on contact & he rolled the ankle while falling over. If its the quad he pulled it from the awkward tumble, it seemed pretty clear to be a hard ankle roll.

    I really respect many of your takes but you may be reaching just a bit on this one. Gordon was easily a consensus top 10 pick in any teams eyes. If you could put Vielma in the draft right now with his current minor league track record & scouting. I have a hard time believing he even goes in the first two rounds. He could be a hidden diamond in the rough but I don't see how he already eschews those comparisons with what he has shown.

    Always liked the possibility of picking Gordon but am very surprised they let Jackson slip past them when he fell. A catcher who could stick & being the best hitter in the draft. Could be a big mistake. Was very surprised Marlins went with Kolek over Rodon, Ken Williams had to be ecstatic.

    I don't think it's ridiculous, just a not real likely. I don't think the Tigers are as good as their record & are far from unbeatable. The Sox & Royals will continue to fall off as well. Still a few things need to happen. Rotation must continue to improve, specifically Nolasco. May could & should replace Corriea but expecting a major improvement over him from a rookie is not real likely. I still like the idea of May replacing Corriea & if he struggles bring Meyer up to replace him or as a Sept call up to add juice to the pen if May shines. The bullpen needs to go from good to elite. Pino replacing Guerrier would be a start, as well as replacing Burton with a fireballer like May/Meyer. I don't understand not letting these guys get their feet wet in the BP to gain some confidence ala Santana. Willingham & Arcia continue providing power. They can't afford another Kubel/Collabello hot start & fade. As solid as Dozier & Plouffe have been, they need Arcia & Hammer providing power to lengthen the lineup. OF defense must improve. It's nice to be able to roll with Pinto at DH but that also means Hammer is in LF with Arcia in RF. Hicks has the tools but has been very average defensively the roll of AAA infielders manning CF needs to stop. They have the depth to flip a c+ level prospect to find a competent league average CF to platoon with Fuld.

    I wouldn't be upset with Gordon but really like Nola. I'd prefer looking for a SS on the international pool.

    Gardy loves Fien and he has been very good. Duesnsing though is as good as gone & pitching well.

    I'd honestly prefer they take Nola whom I like over Kolek but not Aiken or Rodon. The system is really getting deep in solid high potential SP in the lower minors. This is a hopefully the last chance to add to the top with high level upside. Then maybe go for a low cost sign for the 2nd round pick and add that saved $ use on an international signing SS.
