  1. I find myself pulling for Kolek, Gatewood or Hoffman right now. But I also have a lot of "research" to do still.
  2. Fresh Mock Draft From Dan Kirby (MLB.com/TTFBaseball) TOP 5 1. Houston Astros — Carlos Rodon, LHP, North Carolina State 2. Miami Marlins — Trea Turner, SS, North Carolina State 3. Chicago White Sox — Jacob Gatewood, SS, Clovis HS (CA) 4. Chicago Cubs — Jeff Hoffman, RHP, East Carolina 5. Minnesota Twins — Tyler Kolek, RHP, Sheppard HS (TX) After selecting flamethrower Kohl Stewart fourth-overall this year, the Twins can add another power arm in Kolek, a 6’-6”, 240 pound right-hander who can touch triple-digits with his fastball. I got to see him throw at Wrigley and he was hitting 99 mph with ease. He also shows a good feel for a slider that has plus potential. His size suggests even more velocity could be coming, and he has great body control considering his frame. He has been timed at 4.8 in the 40, showing great athleticism. He is another in a long line of country strong, hard throwers from the state of Texas. Read more at 2014 MLB mock draft 2.0: Draft order set 2014 MLB mock draft 2.0: Draft order set
  3. Boom, fresh mock from today: Dan Kirby, from MLB did a mock today - Kolek to Twins at #5.
  4. Not nearly as upset about Gardy as I am about Rick.
  5. Can't wait to get into the full swing of things: speculation, pining for players - the weeks leading up to the draft are great.
  6. Looks like both us and Cubs gonna lose tonight.
  7. Right, and all the ones they drafted were defensive specialists. Gross. I do like Pinto, go elsewhere in the draft. Pitcher, pitcher, pitcher. Just keep stocking up. We've done well with Meyer, May, Stewart, Gonsalves, Thorpe, Berrios, Eades, Jorge. At least there are guys to look forward to now. But I'd keep stocking up.
  8. I agree with you. I don't know much about Jackson but I had the same gross feeling when I saw mocks with us taking Reese McGuire last year.
  9. Ah, yeah Kolek looks legit. I haven't dug in a ton yet, so didn't know much about him. 99 MPH FB? Sheesh. Couple of nice off-speed pitches too. http://ht.ly/p4c2e Also, someone school me more on Jacob Gatewood - very intrigued.
  10. Exactly. Pretty exciting to know that we should (if the Twins want) end up with someone like Turner, Hoffman, Touissant, Jackson, Beede or Gatewood.
  11. I see Seattle won, so we've got 5th in the bag with hopes for 4th. Honestly hoping we lose out and grab the 4th spot. Future is more important than 1000 wins for Gardy.
  12. Mauer shut down...helps the L column these last 8 games...
  13. Instead of me asking every-so-often, is there a site that tracks the current 2014 Draft order each day?
  14. B/R is turning it around. At least on the NFL side, they've made some big name hires - so I'd assume they're improving across the board.
  15. Been winning a bit too much over the last couple weeks......
  16. Jesse Sanchez ‏@JesseSanchezMLB15m #BlueJays, #Braves, #Cubs, #Marlins, #Phillies, #Rangers, #RedSox, #Twins & #Yankees #LAD among teams with interest last week, @StivBators View conversation Jesse Sanchez ‏@JesseSanchezMLB26m I'm as surprised as anyone to see report that #Dodgers are no longer interested in Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez. That's a big deal at this stage.
  17. Where we at in the draft standings now?
  18. Some timely strikeouts there by T-Bar.
  19. Yes, Rodon is a likely top 3 pick (maybe 1 overall.) He, Beede, Touissant are 3 pitchers expected to be in the top 5 range (as of now.)
  20. Kelly Johnson just located one of his pitches really well, it took a huge jump into the seats.
  21. Honestly, at this point - knowing what we have on the field, I DO root for them to lose because in order for them to be better in the future, adding an elite prospect is the way to go. We never splurge in FA, and the reason we're excited for the future is Buxton and Sano, (and Arcia) - so yes, in a draft that is supposed to be stacked from 1-10, I do root for us to end up with a top 5 pick so that SOMEDAY we can be good again. Because it's not going to be this season.
  22. Mike Berardino ‏@MikeBerardino1m Story filed to http://twincities.com . Posting soon.: #MNTwins 2013 first-round draft pick Kohl Stewart will make GCL debut on July 4th Tempering expectations, but excited!
  23. Excited to see who we snag other than Lewin (who could be very solid.)
  24. To add on to that: OF Byron Buxton (Twins): The 19-year-old outfielder has blossomed into the top prospect in the game, destroying the Midwest League at the plate, flashing high-end upside in the field, and showing off his elite speed on the bases. He was ranked high coming into the year (number eight on the BP 101) and the tools were always loud and exciting, but the on-the-field translation has been better than expected and faster than expected—and the expectations were very high to begin with. 25. This is very encouraging.
