  1. I thought the Astros were really dumb last year. They could have drafted a guy like Buxton who was the best player in the draft with a ton of upside but they went the cheap way which is what losers do. They could of taken Buxton last year and Appel or Gray this year. Yea its a little more risky spending most of your money on 1 guy but if they reach their potential they are priceless. Just think if DET would of made a deal instead of picking Verlander at 2, or if WSH would of made a deal instead of grabbing Harper.... You know what im saying?
  2. This draft has 3 guys ahead of the rest. Its all about Appel, Gray and Bryant. If one of those 3 is available the Twins have to take one of them. If they arent than its up in the air. I have 2 guys I wouldnt mind seeing picked in Manaea and Stewart. Both have red flags. People think Stewart may never become a 200IP guy because he has had a few minor injuries. Manaea was looking like the 1st overall pick for awhile but has since stated pitching worse. It could be because of an injury but IDK. He has ace stuff, maybe better coaching and training could help him?
  3. I keep doing research and I think this years draft has 3 players that are above the rest. I think Bryant, Appel and Gray are the 3 best players. Stewart has the potential to be as good or better than Appel and Gray but he has some minor red flags and some think he might never be a 200IP guy because of a few small injuries he has had. Manaea is the biggest risk/reward, hes got the stuff to be great but has struggled recently. I really hope either Bryant, Appel or Gray falls to the Twins.
  4. I really hope the Twins take him. Of course appel or gray would be awesome but thats not gonna happen.
  5. I think unless for some odd reason Appel or Gray falls to the Twins they take Bryant or Stewart and maybe Manaea if they really like him. Bryant has the best overall bat in the draft IMO. It could be 2 straight years where the Twins get the best position player in the draft. Stewart is also a great option, I think hes the only pitcher other than Gray and Appel that could be a real ace. He could even be better than those 2 when he gets older and has better coaching. Manaea showed everyone he has ace stuff, he has similar stuff to David Price(In now way am I saying hes gonna be him or is as good as him) its just a question of if he can get better coaching can he be more consistent and can he reach his potential.
  6. Yea they can. If you have a high producing player that gets 100+ RBIs a year like Miggy or Fielder its not to rare that they get a 3RBI+ day and win the game. Mauer doesnt do that, hes just not worth the money hes getting unless hes playing like his MVP season.
  7. Exactly, I think if you have a good defensive catcher that is cheap and spend money on other positions. I think Mauer is extremely overpaid, look at Posey he just got less money than Mauer and he actualy gets alot of HRs and RBIs aswell as AVG. If Mauer batted .340+ 90RBI and a high OBP each year he might be worth the money but he doesnt.
  8. I didnt change the name. I screwed up when I wrote it. It should say- Rumors Twins could cut deal with first pick to save money for later in the draft!
  9. Its sad to see so many MN Twins fans talking like you. Im not trying to be a dick im just saying the Twins horrible thinking has gotten to the fans. Yes theres alot of busts in every draft but the reward is so great when you take that risk, and theres never a for sure thing. The Twins need a potential ace and have the 4th overall pick with a couple potential aces out there. Do you think the Tigers thought Verlander could be a bust? Yes. Do you think the Dodgers thought Kershaw could be a bust? Yes. But they took the chance and were rewarded. Any player at any level could be a bust. But they could also be the next Verlander.
  10. Is this thread a joke? Ha every fan that knows baseball knows that the Twins needed a top of the roto pitcher, I dont remeber anyone really talking about any of them. Yea there were a couple rumors here and there but everyone knew we needed a proven top of the roto pitcher which is why people wanted Greinke or Sanchez. Greinke was too expensive so Sanchez was the main guy we wanted. Where is his stat line? Anibal Sanchez(off the top of my head)- 1.97ERA, 1.09WHIP and 58K We missed out big time. Hes been amazing and the Twins missed out because they never wanna spend money. Its sad to see fans say stuff like you try to make the Twins look good or something when they have done nothing to make us fans happy. The only thing they have done is dump 40+ million in the last 2 offseasons.
  11. I was trying to say I couldnt remeber the last time they did, my b
  12. Rumors persist that Minnesota could cut a deal with Washington high school catcher Reese McGuire and spend heavily further down in the draft. I would be very upset if the Twins did this. They need to grab a top of the roto arm. For to long the Twins have waited til later rounds to draft pitchers and it hasnt worked so why would it work now. The last decent pitcher they drafted in the first round was Garza in the 20s I think. I cant even remember the last time the Twins took a top arm in the top 5. Appel and Gray will be gone by the time the Twins are up so we know they arent gonna get either of them. If Bryant is available I say the Twins take him because he has too much potential to pass on. If they are all 3 gone the Twins have to take Manaea or Stewart. Manaea has had troubles but we all saw what he is capable of and with better coaching and training he could be more consistent. I think they should grab Stewart, he has the same upside as Appel and Gray but will take a little longer to develop because hes still in HS. The Twins have to grab a top arm if they dont get get Bryant.
  13. If Appel, Gray or Bryant is there at 4 I say the Twins take whoever it is. If they are all gone I think they have to take Stewart or Manaea. We have a few good young bats but we need a potential ace. Yea we have several prospects that could be really good top of the roto guys but Stewart and Manaea have better potential than any of them. Pitching can win you a world series, especialy when your team doesnt have the biggest payroll.
  14. Hed definently put up better numbers, just think of all those pop outs in TGF that would be a double or HR over the Monster. MLB network did a segment that talked about Mauers Power numbers since we left the Dome and they counted around 10 fly balls at TGF that would of been homers in the Dome. Just think thats atleast 10 more RBIs probably 15, and his AVG and power numbers would go up. I think the Twins should of done a better job at building target field to benefit Mauer.
  15. I hear you on Manaea, he has great stuff and theres not alot of lefties like him. He was amazing before his recent struggles and you cant ignore that. He showed what hes capable of and maybe with better coaching he could be more consistent. Hes my favorite other than Gray or Appel but only because he could be in the bigs before Stewart.
  16. The Twins havent drafted a solid top of the Roto pitcher for a long time. They also think that they dont have to spend money to win even though they havent been able to draft well for a long time. So they have been stuck in neutral for several years now because of their self destructive thinking. Alot of teams sign FAs and have alot fo success with the players they signed. For example Anibal Sanchez has been great so far. Yes theres a risk when dishing out money to get big names but its a risk every good team takes to win, the reward is worth the risk. The reason I wrote this article is because I see alot of Twins fans starting to think like the Twins. Twins fans havent had the excitement of a big FA signing in forever so they think every FA is just too risky. I see so many people say how its not worth the money to sign a top arm because they could get hurt or they just arent worth it. Thats sad coming from a fan base, who doesnt want a top player. Especialy when your team cant draft, you need to sign a decent pitcher to get better. Whenever a team signs a FA for big money they know the risk, but the reward is worth the risk. After the Twins cut another 20+mil this offseason I thought for sure we could grab Greinke or Sanchez, but we did niether. Now the Twins wierd thinking that has never worked is starting to creep into the minds of Twins fans.
  17. You just dont get it do you? Yes theres a risk in signing a FA, especialy when its alot of money but its a risk almost every team that wants to win takes. You cant look at every FA and say "Well lets not sign them because they could have a bad season". If you wanna be good and havent been able to draft a good starting pitcher in years than you have to pick up a pitcher through FA, its a risk that you have to take. Every team does it except the Twins. I feel bad for you because you think like the Twins do. You dont think DET knew the possibility that he could have a bad year in 3 years down the road? Of course they did, but they looked at the bigger pitcher which was he can help win games. Hes done that and more, hes been amazing.
  18. I wouldnt mind getting Appel or Gray because they are both potential aces and they arent to far from the majors, but we all know for even one of them to fall to us it would be a miracle. So who does that leave? For me its 3 guys: Sean Manaea, Kris Bryant and Kohl Stewart. I think Kohl Stewart has the potential to be the best pitcher to come out of this years draft but hes a 3-4 year project. Sean Manaea has the stuff to be a great top of the roto guy but hes hasnt been to good lately. Then theres Kris Bryant, I think hes the best overall batter in the draft. Hes projected to play 1B and the Twins dont have alot of good 1B prospects. Unless Gray or Appel fall to us I think the Twins take Bryant. Who do you guys think we should draft?
  19. We need to get Gibson up here soon, I cant stand seing everyone of our starting pitchers struggle to hit 90mph on the gun. Hernandez is absolutely horrible, cant wait to see him out of here.
  20. In the offseason we were all waiting for the Twins to sign a good FA starting pitcher after our horrible pitching in 2012. We all knew the Twins wouldnt go after Zach Greinke, and they didnt. The guy I really thought was we would go after is Anibal Sanchez. Hes been consistent and has the ability to get strikeouts. The last 3 seasons hes had an ERA ranging from 3.50-3.90 and Strikeouts ranging from 157-202. Hes a reliable and consistent top of the rotation pitcher, something the Twins havent seen since Santana. So why didnt we go after him? Because the Twins are the Twins, they dont wanna spend money to improve. Through 7 starts hes 3-3 1.97ERA 1.09WHIP and 58Ks. Hes been amazing to say the least. This is just another missed opurtunity to get a solid and reliable pitcher that the Twins missed. We all know how much money they have been cutting so we also know they had the money to sign him. I guess the Twins dont care about winning anymore, they would rather be the doormat of the division.
  21. I really hope the Twins grab Stewart, hes got the stuff to become the best pitcher out of this class. It just sucks hes gonna take atleast 3 years to develop.
  22. Matt Cain is the guy we missed out on, some of the other ones were picked way after our pick so we probably werent even thinking about them. How are the Twins so bad a picking pitchers or signing them?
  23. Its awesome to see Gibson doing so well, we need a guy that can throw the ball hard in our roto. Im sick of seeing 89mph fastballs getting crushed to all fields, I dont think we have one starter that can get close to mid 90s like Gibson. We have alot of great young arms that im super excited to see. Gibson, Meyer and Borrios could all be great. Hopefully to Twins draft Manaea too.
  24. Appel or Gray would be amazing, but very unlikely. I think we take Manaea at 4, atleast I hope we do. A lefty with his stuff doesnt come around alot. If none of them are available I dont see how we pass on Bryant.
