  1. I would argue the Twins were better at developing players when the Griffith's owned the team and lost their way after MacPhail left. Remember, the biggest complaints about Griffith was that he would never pay players to stay and that the Twins were basically just an MLB farm team for the rest of the league. I thought you showed fairly clearly the Twins weren't getting people through the lower minors quickly enough, along with not properly managing the 40 man roster. Or, one is affecting the other. Just wondering, have you looked at college players in the Twins system? Seems to me college players should spend very little time in the lower minors before hitting Double AA ball. I think players just out of college should be a lot closer to MLB ready than kids just out of high school. I ask, because I'm under the impression the Twins tend to move players out of college through the system at the same rate as high school players. But that's just an impression. Nothing factual to back it up. Everything I've read says AA is the place where the rubber really starts to meet the road when it comes to player development. Therefore, players should get to AA as fast as possible in order for the organization to find out just what they have.
  2. Let me get this straight: The Twins have now gone 7-3 against the AL West. What a weird and terrible season this has been.
  3. I'm not sure Dozier, Park and Kepler are the best ones to use as examples of Achter's pitching prowess.
  4. I saw that and wondered if it was the unlamented AJ Achter. The Angels are picking up Twins pitching rejects? That's some dumpster diving TR would be proud of!
  5. I about died laughing when I read this. The Twins have shredded their dignity at this point. Although, I wonder how the Angels feel right now, being in the process of losing 4 straight to the worst or second worst team in MLB.
  6. Detroit and Chicago have a "Blyleven Pitchers Duel" in progress. Currently tied 9 all top of the 12th.
  7. Personally, I'm waiting for "Axe Handle Beer" to arrive. Heck, why go with single wide when we can have "3 Axe Handles Wide."
  8. His friend, being cheap and not wanting to waste the bullets he just purchased......(use your imagination)
  9. That only works if there is a major house cleaning in the Twins FO.
  10. Single wide? Really? What kind of company names a beer after a type of mobile home? Plus, have you seen what most mobile home parks look like?
  11. I have to admit, that's awesome.
  12. Pretty much how I liked my coffee when I was 16. "Waitress, I'll take a bit of coffee with my sugar."
  13. Please, you only put the question mark to try and fool us into thinking I've not discovered your "joke" stash. Further proof: What do you call cheese that isn't yours?
  14. I found Chief's repository of bad jokes. We tender the following example for your perusal: What kind of coffee was served on the Titanic?
  15. Gad, that was a KQRS bad joke of the day back in the day.
  16. I take it the people you work with are not your friends?
  17. Don't forget the peeled grapes.
  18. I finally looked at the video. That ball bounced straight up under Uribe. It's a wonder he didn't drop on the spot. I notice, though, his teammates were kind of smiling at what happened as Uribe was helped off the field. Probably sat in the clubhouse straddling a bag of ice.
  19. Just remember, though, Ricky's gotta be Ricky. So, let's not get our hopes up.
  20. 115 on a motorcycle in the summer in MN. You have any idea how fast you can collect bugs at that speed? True story: I was riding along and took a cattle prod to the shoulder. Actually, it turned out I was stung by a wasp. The wasp somehow got inside my leather jacket. I was not happy. /true story.
  21. My wife was with me when I did 125. She would have been okay if I'd have gone even faster. Of course, the car was set up to do around 150+ so there's that.
  22. Yeah, reading your information made me realize just how clueless the Twins organization is when it comes to player development. Bring back Andy MacPhail!
  23. So that was YOU that went flying by Chitown...
  24. Fastest I've ever gone on two wheels: 115 mph. Fastest I've ever gone on 4 wheels: 125 mph. I prefer the 125 mph on 4 wheels. 115 on a motorcycle is a little hairy.
