  1. Van, I think the powers that be should stand pat unless they get a killer offer. I think not dealing Dozier was probably the right move in the off-season. It may very well turn out not making a deal for Santan is the best way to go, too. Overall, with the results the Twins are getting from Santana, it might be a good thing to keep him for next year. Barring injury, I can see another really good year after this year. If it looks like the staff has solidified with the addition of Santiago and Meija, there may not be any reason to move Santana. If anything, Gibson or Hughes should be worrying about getting outright cut, should Berrios continue to dominate. That will be .02 cents, please.
  2. Someone stole Chief's book of jokes.
  3. No rest for the politically incorrect. I was just putting the finishing touches on the fence and mom called. Leak under her bathroom sink. Fortunately, I had stocked parts in advance in anticipation of this problem. Still sucked, though. I see nothing wrong with using royal pain twice in a rant. If' it's worth ranting about, it's worth being emphatic to the point of redundancy. However, were it a game thread, you'd be mercilessly mocked.
  4. I am really looking forward to the game tonight. I don't really care if the Twins win or not, as long as they show some gumption. Also, when game time starts, it means I'm no longer replacing fence posts. Freaking builders. Put in the cheapest fence possible, no treated lumber and the posts rot out at the base, even here in CA.
  5. I'm looking forward to the game. Cleveland should be a good test. Actually, after last year, everything is a good test.
  6. Yeah, Santana just isn't a 4th outfielder. Not happy with his play at all yesterday. In fact, I think Molitor would have shown some "outside the box" thinking if he'd have given up the DH and put Kepler in as the late inning defensive replacement. I believe the Twins had reached the point in the game where pitchers were only going to work 1 inning anyway.
  7. Chitown, we're all human and we all step in it at times. Call someone out on it, they apologize, move on. (you should have seen the humble pie I ate when I made disparaging remark about Millenials. Fully deserved, I might add) Anyway, how about Hawk Harrelson? Does the very mention of his name give you shivers and nightmares?
  8. Actually, no, I don't care about the Redskins name. For the record, my grandmother was full blooded Cherokee Indian. I have ancestors that died on Trail of Tears. Guess what? I got over that crap a long time ago. Actually, it was never anything I had to get over. If I got offended by every little thing that happened in this world, I'd be perpetually aggrieved. And I'm tired of being told that something is offensive when, as far as I'm concerned, it doesn't matter.
  9. And I think too many people are looking for reasons to be offended and need to get over themselves.
  10. Ah, the old "fill the oil, check the gas" beater. Had one. Ford Galaxy. Ran it for a couple of years. Wound up putting 30 weight oil in the transmission because I blew out the front seal. Ran the car with 30 weight in the transmission for several months before it died. Only paid $50 for the car, so, no big deal.
  11. 1. The Twins were in it all of the game. Not the preferred results but still, every game this year has been a step in the right direction, so far. 2. Santana as a defensive replacement? Give me a break. The Twins need a true defensive 4th outfielder. Santana just isn't it. 3. Maybe it was just me, but the ump sure seemed to like giving Shields the strike on the outside of the plate while squeezing Santiago.
  12. I'd try to quantify but I prefer to remain a member in standing (notice I didn't say "good") on TD.
  13. I think Shields goes to the well once to often and Sano puts one in the seats.
  14. I think Shields is lucky for the score to still be 0-0. The Twins have squared up some balls pretty good. Yes, Santiago caught a break, but I don't think the Sox have as many hard hit the balls as the Twins.
  15. You would punish us by having us listen to just Dick? You are an evil evil man.
  16. First car: 65 Impala SS. Not the car for a 16 year old with all the responsibility of government spending.
  17. We had Ford Pinto that, while it may have been under-powered, the engine was bullet proof. Ran that car 200,000 miles. As for the Corvair, we had one, it always started but that's about all I remember about it.
  18. Grossman works part-time as a groundskeeper?
  19. By the way, since I'm a curious sort (stop laughing over there) I did some reading on the Vega. The list of engineering mistakes is quite impressive, from the way the car was initially painted to putting a cast iron head on an aluminum block.
  20. Yeah, well, I'll bet the Sunfire was miles ahead of the Vega. First car I've ever seen that rusted in CA.
  21. You put the Sunfire ahead of the Aztec? Really?
  22. Pheet! Redundancy cite! Obviously, you're a Twins fan, which automatically puts you in the irrational category.
  23. Ha! RB and I have a 3 game sweep to our credit. If Van get's the W, he'll still not have the perfect record RB and I enjoy! Anyway, I'm doing a chicken for Easter dinner while my wife makes her fabulous green beans and does some carrots on the grill.
  24. He did wash his hands and declare himself innocent of the blood of Jesus. After all, it was the leaders of the Pharisees and Sadducees who were calling for crucifixion. Pilate wanted no part of their plans but gave in to the demands of the crowd who had been whipped into a frenzy by the leaders.
