  1. Honestly, I think the Twins are giving away games when Hughes starts. Another short start, another time the bullpen is out before it should be. Let's say the Twins had an 8-1 or 8-4 lead going into the 6th and they go to the pen in the 7th. I think it's a different outcome if Reed and, of all things, Pressly are pitching the later innings.
  2. I could overlook the losses in Tampa, because the Twins hadn't really had a chance to get things going. I could overlook the losses to the Yankees because, well, it's the Yankees. I find tonight to be inexcusable. Oh, and Dick? 8 game losing streak. There is no "put the loss behind" you and get back at it at this point. Dick, there are no positives to tonight's game. Best just call the game and stop rambling.
  3. It's the managers job to make sure everyone is ready to play. After the 2016 debacle and so far tonight, I have serious doubts as the ability of Molitor to inspire the troops. Plus, managers are always fired when things go south. It's not always fair, but that's the way it has always been. And, the new FO maybe isn't far behind.
  4. Usually, the sum of the parts is greater than the whole, but, in the case of the Twins, it appears the sum is less than all of the parts combined.
  5. I suggest we trade the entire Twins coaching staff straight up for Joe Maddon.
  6. I liked Kelly in small doses. He makes us curmudgeons proud.
  7. Twins lose this game, I think Molitor should be fired.
  8. I seriously underestimated the ability of the Twins to play down to the level of their competition. Yikes!
  9. Hey, World Soccer or whatever is on, Maybe Gennett is a fan!
  10. Hughes strikes me as being a stand-up guy. Hopefully, he'll decide it's time to retire.
  11. Well, we're experts at spotting 100+ loss teams by now.
  12. I know the game is back on but I'm afraid to look and see if Molitor put Hughes back out again. Oh well, here goes nothing.
  13. On second thought, I'm going to keep my fingers to myself.
  14. Morison just redeemed himself a bit in my eyes. I really like the way he hustled and didn't assume the ball was out.
  15. Well, the Twins are on at Che Blake, but, I have to tell you, I'm not excited about the start by Phil Hughes. Just seems like the Twins are giving away games by keeping Hughes around.
  16. Good job and I pray things go well.
  17. This just looks bad all the way around. FO grabs another castoff and, in the process, jerks around a player the Twins drafted and who has moved steadily through the organization. Just from an age standpoint it makes me wonder, because Slegers is 25 while Hale is 30. Late bloomers are incredibly rare at the MLB level.
  18. On the upside of the loss yesterday, Gibson may be turning into "must watch pitch" right behind Berrios. Yesterday, Gibson held down hitters who, in the past, had some pretty good numbers against him.
  19. Still, I give Gibson a lot of credit. He pitched a whale of a game. Kyle gave the Twins a great chance to win and they couldn't come through for him.
  20. Oh, I think that's sort of a given but hey, which position would you rather be in? A chance at winning or losing later or losing now?
  21. Could very well have been the difference between a tie game and an immediate loss.
  22. Yeah, but I sort of think Mauer makes the play at first. Sanchez only ties the game at that point if the play is made. Game completely changed when Morrison didn't dig out the throw. I'm really getting tired of the "sacrosanct" DH late in the game, by the way. It seems obvious to me that if you're going to use one of your best defensive players as a DH you best be prepared to give up the DH late in the game.
