  1. I am really enjoying the in depth analysis of the lesser known prospects in the system. What opened my eyes to Granite this past year were the stolen bases. Stealing a base is about a lot more than speed. If Granite can continue to get on base and steal bases with a high rate of success, the rest of his comp to Revere becomes less important in my opinion. Was Revere also putting up stolen base numbers in MiLB?
  2. I am a little surprised to see Molina ahead of Balazovic and Clemensia considering you have him pretty much slotted as a utility guy with a light bat. I just don't see the upside over the younger pitchers other than he has already shown he should be advancing to High A.
  3. Very cool! My church has been on mission trips to help Dominican Churches. My wife and I have both gone along and have a special passion for the DR. It is amazing how much they love baseball down there. These baseball facilities and the MLB investments seem to us to be a very good thing as most of those young prospects never leave the island. The education down there is not free for everyone so the High School classes and English language classes are very beneficial even if they don't make it in baseball.
  4. To be honest, with so many threads started last year I felt I was doing a very shoddy job of really looking into the individual prospects after the first 4-5 threads.
  5. I concur but Having 50 guys adopted and updated regularly is better than none. I like and feel your passion for all 150 but realistically it won't get done on a monthly basis at this stage of the project. I think we should more realistically set targets for the number of adoptions and increase that annually to build that passion in others. If we could for instance get all 60 of Thrylos' top 60, that would be a wonderful number this year. (And I'm sure there would be other adoptions from outside that 60) At years end, assess and set a higher goal for adoptions for next year. Another separate thought, a post draft draft of new prospects.
  6. Some things that could make this helpful: What do we consider a "prospect"? Thrylos limits it to no MLB service. This leaves out some guys but may be a very good rule for AAP. What are other qualifications for a prospect? Under a certain age? Some guys carry more interest than others. Do we start with an initial prospect list for people to choose from. A group of "these guys REALLY need to be adopted." To start I like having a date and time for a draft to start. It builds hype and gets things going with a strong start. Maybe there's a date and time for rounds one through three of a draft with a free agency period after that(first come first serve for each round) A moderator assigned to message posters that are not updating their prospects. If no moderator wants that task, maybe assign Shane or I or both of us that task. After not heeding warning (s) maybe that poster loses that prospect and the right to draft a prospect for the following year? Prospect trading? If you didn't get the guy you really wanted? (Or if you have always had James Beresford but didn't get him this year type thing)
  7. When I'm older and retired I will finally have the freedom to attend some of these things. For the average working class Joe, so many things are just annoying to hear about because we cannot go.
  8. I have no doubt Garver can handle a platoon situation. Two words Stuart Turner. Garver is VERY used to being a platoon and that would be a great way to introduce him to the majors.
  9. Good for Jairo and bravo to the new Twins heads for giving the guy respect for what he has offered the organization!
  10. This has to be one of my favorite interviews you have done. I hope he gets a shot at a cup of coffee some day.
  11. So who exactly is getting the concussion? I would not encourage you to give one to yourself but you may wind up in jail if you give someone else a concussion on purpose. I know it would be a "same old, same old" move to write a conclusion but it might just be the safer move. I would suggest you write a conclusion and skip the whole concussion idea.
  12. Hopefully Falvey will have seen the benefits from this years event and give you more time next year...
  13. I can see Voglesong hoping for a return to what he once was and a veteran presence in the bull pen but I am not seeing the Tepesch signing at all... 14. Well, I just looked through the "25 man" and "40 Man" rosters (which have 40 and 56 players on them respectively) and it becomes REALLY obvious looking at them that we need an upgrade at 3rd/4th OF (depending on your view of Rosario). The Youth of Buxton/Rosario/Kepler supported by Grossman-DSan-Palka-Granite is not acceptable... not much better when you count Schuck. Short Stop looks similarly desperate. Polanco-Escobar-Vielma-DSantana does not look like a depth chart acceptable in MLB. The other non-roster invites do not make it look any better. One thing REALLY obvious to me is DSan needs to be cut and someone signed at either SS or OF. I like Rosario. I would love him as a 4th OF. I know Im not saying anything revolutionary here but when you actually look at those rosters... Holy Wow!
  15. Interesting that they moved him immediately to second after signing him and then trying him at third at instructs. Is this a sign that they see him as a utility player as his top end?
  16. This is my 3rd or 4th straight year...I can't remember for sure. I know I had one before you started with the cool covers...I think my first was an all red cover.
  17. I was hoping a Dozier trade would happen first so the new prospects would be included. Book ordered. Can't wait for it to arrive. Yeah, I went paper copy. Im old school that way.
  18. So 5yrs/75Million would be the same as 2/15 + 3/60. Would he bite on that? Would we want him for 15 per year for 5 years? In the same vein of us trying to trade him at peak value, that would be extending him at peak value.
  19. Data is almost always misleading if used the right way but aside from the sarcasm, yeah, I am interested but have never seen the "evidence" if you have something handy to share...
  20. But, Your missing that he affects wins, season ticket holders AND casual fans. What percentage of attendance is casual fan vs season ticket? You combine the three to get overall effect and it becomes a factor. The question is how big a factor? You also have merchandise and the other ways that player impacts the team. All of this is off the original point and that original point still stands. The amount of returns you get for trading a player vs keeping is factored into what you have to get back in return and if you are not getting enough in return there is a point at which keeping the player is better business. THAT was my point.
  21. Players have fans, they buy their Jerseys and like to see them play. I have had several less fanatical Twins fans than me this fall/early winter tell me "why would they trade their only decent player?" and question whether they would even be interested in going next year if he isn't on the team. Those types of fans would be less likely to go to games without Dozier. This team does not have many good to great players right now. Attendance will be hurt, especially early in the season, by trading their best player because the assumption is we will be bad/worse without him. Also, fans will go to see someone on a 90 loss team who is hitting 40 home runs from 2nd base. Attendance would have been down more without him this past fall. Heck, want evidence? I've gone to games just because Radke or Johan were pitching. I went to games just to see what Thome would do. I drove to Cedar Rapids to see Buxton. People do go just for a person.Yes Spycake, overall record is the key factor but there is a point at which a trade is just not worth it.
  22. Exactly. Why Is it not possible that he gets re-signed after the two years and becomes a life long Twin? Morneau, Hunter, Puckett, Killebrew, Oliva...none of them were FROM Minnesota! If we cannot get enough value from a trade, the value of a player that draws people to the stadium will outweigh a bad trade.
  23. The article concludes with "on to The Show". It would be nice if he could push it to the next level.
  24. KNOX... I forgot that but yeah, that was my station all through High School and my two years at NDSU ( I was home for baseball season in the summer)
  25. that leaves some (like me) stuck in the middle I fear...
