  1. Stewart orvFrazier no catchers please, please, please!
  2. Oh, oh! Could be a normal draft. What the heck?
  3. It's the baseball Astros!
  4. Well the Astros are up. Is this the crazy Astros or the baseball Astros? We'll fin out in a couple minits.
  5. Clint Frazier was in TV and I think I saw a Twins pin on his necktie. He's my favorite.
  6. Chuchadoro, you're right, Buxton was a disappointment yesterday. All he needed with hit #6 was to go yard for the cycle. What does he do? Grounds out...jeesh!
  7. Buxton is leading in BA/OBP. Sano is leading in HR & RBI. Each is near the top in everything else. Do you value speed over raw power? Don't think so. Until they play in the same league together a slight edge to Sano because of his power lead.
  8. Now 2 singles, 2 trpls & 1 dbl. Batt Ave up 17 pts to .350
  9. Apparently Buxton well healed his thumb. Single in first run scored. Triple in second RBI.
  10. Buxton in the pre game lineup.
  11. Just looked at Buxton's Facebook page. His favorite Baseball team is the Boston Red Sox. Hmmm! LOL
  12. All of this addict talk is silly without more evidence. What isn't silly are reports that Mr. Gray from time to time has not been very committed to his training. It is also, apparently true, that he has not done a very good job of controlling his weight. Both of these are red flags. In light of these issues an instance of using a prescription stimulant takes on added importance. Particularly so, if it was not his prescription. Drafted ball players are all risks, drafting a pitcher with several issues is too high a risk for the 4th pick.
  13. If it were just that, i'd agree. But CMB0252 mentioned the other two things and together they raise (to my mind at least) a big character issue.
  14. "A poor work ethic", "Consistently out of shape", and now we find out he's amping up before games? I don't care if he can throw it 95 MPH through a key hole the twins don't touch this kid. This all points to emotional & character issues and we've been there and done that with Mr. Young. He'll be available and the Twins will pass and that will be a good thing.
  15. Isn't this is the kind of thing that can be a lingering injury? This may have been bothering him for a while, if so, his numbers may be even crazier than they look. Rest him and get him better.
  16. Buxton not in the lineup today. 2nd day in a row. Injured, hot water, moving up, or really sleepy & needs a couple of days off? Guessing not the last.
  17. Like most I'm assuming that BB gets promoted to high A. Assuming that he keeps his average in the .330 area, that's probably true. Is it possible that if he gets on fire again and gets back up in the .370 area that he could skip a level up to AA? I don't know if the Twins do this kind of acceleration very often.
  18. He may have the bat for it. If they can get him to high A in the next few weeks, they can see if his maturity measures up to an elevated level of defense. Isn't it more likely is that he will get a lot of attention next spring with the big team and be called up quickly into the season?
  19. 6.1 innings 10 K's, 2 BB's, 1 ER, 48 pitches per box score. Doesn't seem possible. If only 3 pitches on K's & 4 on BB's that's 38 pitches. Leaves 10 pitches for 8 more outs plus 2 hits. Some kinda efficiency. Also Buxton not in lineup tonight, injury? Rest?
  20. Buxton not playing. Injury?
  21. I've done further checking on this "Über" prospect. If that's what he is then Sano is the Iron Man and Buxton is Superman. Buxton is on pace to have more SB's by mid season than Tavares will have in 4 1/2 years. He has not demo'd any real power and a PCL BA of less than .333? There was even some comment that he will likely not hold his position because of lack of arm strength. The more I checked, the less I get it. Sano, Arcia & Buxton each seem to be much stronger prospects. But, then again, I admit to being a homer.
  22. Tavares is hitting .321 with an OBP of .351. Good numbers, but hardly "feeding on" numbers. Buxton at nearly .340 & .400+ is much more of a feeder, but granted it's low A.
  23. Gotta love Mientkiewicz. He may be the perfect coach for a group of young men that can't help but read their own "Can't Miss" publicity. As well as training, developing and teaching he's got to make them responsible young ball players. Sometimes that means a bruised ego. Rosario last week, Sano this. Keep it up Dougie.
  24. Sano 0-2 w/ 2 K's and pulled in the fifth. Any idea what's going on?
  25. Most of the statistics gurus that I have read contend that OBP is THE single most important statistic in baseball and the most over looked. A guy that hits 275 and has enough walks to bring that number up to 400 is more valuable than a 325 hitter that strikes out 25% of the time. He mentioned Richardson's 425 OBP, last year he was over 400 for the entire year. These are Buxton-like numbers. Who is this guy, I've never heard of him?
