  1. Buxton - single, HBP, triple. Sano - 2 rn HR, ground out, 2 rn HR. They're OK, I guess.
  2. No he jacked 2. 1st & 3rd AB's. 4 RBI's. he musts been reading our posts. 33 HR's & 99 RBI's.
  3. Opting, your comments were spot on. Only speaking for myself, I look at numbers and draw conclusions. There's nothing wrong with this, my Dad used to say, "It's results that count." But as you point out it's incomplete as far as true evaluation. In terms of evaluating Sano's current value and his readiness to be moved up his current raw statistics are what should be used. As far as measuring his potential stardom and establishing a training/teaching plan we need the things you pointed out. Why is he striking out so much? Can't hit a curve ball? Doesn't know the strike zone. Can't pick up the ball coming off the pitchers hand? It would be interesting to know what the Twins brain trust believes the answers are. You can bet the opposition has been charting these kinds of things and they think they know the answers.
  4. Please post pics if you can. Could be interesting, I think Buck hits about 40 points higher in day games.
  5. Mr Brooks wrote: "28% is not "about 1/3" of the time, in fact it's much closer to 1/4 of the time than it is to 1/3 of the time. It is also pretty close to his career norm. It was 26% at low A, and 25.1% at High A. He could be striking out more, or it could be chalked up to SSS. Either way it has to be within the MOE for a couple hundred AB's." As of tonight Sano has 66 K's in 197 AB's. 66/197 = 33.5 %. I fully understand that 200 AB's do not constitute an adequate statistical sample. Also, I am not making a case that Miguel is less (or more) than his hype. I was just pointing out the obvious observation that he has had some hitting issues at the higher minor leage level. And I was asking if this was a concern when considering if he should be promoted two levels more by taking him to the majors this season's last few weeks.
  6. I'm not at all convinced about Sano. I hope with all my heart that my doubts are unfounded, but something just doesn't translate for me. He's hit a ton of HR's and RBI's that much is true. But he's hitting .238 and striking out about 1/3 of the time. This is at AA after killing pitching at A. I assume that major league pitching must be an equally large leap from AA as that level was from A. If so, what can we reasonably expect? Do K's rise from 30% to 45%? Do HR's fall from 1 every 13 AB to one every 17 AB? How do the twins look at this fall off and justify a call up ths year? I don't know the answer, but I see bigger challenges than most people seem to see. i sure hope I'm wrong because I am looking forward to seeing him in a Twins uni.
  7. Sano is out of the lineup tonight. A rest or injury?
  8. He's probably not ready offensively, IMHO. He is still struggling at the plate at this level. Even though he is hitting for amazing power he has become a very one dimensional hitter. They do not need to bring bim and create a great deal of doubt in his mind.
  9. Kohl has not had a bad appearance yet. He is looking like a great #4 pick. Will be very interesting to see how quickly the twins, move him to 5 and 6 innings so batters see him multiple times.
  10. Buxton is beginning to put up insane numbers. In so doing he is taking on an identity that may serve him well in the majors. He seems to be letting any pursuit of power take care of itself. Instead he is hitting singles, stealing bases and scoring runs...lots of runs and lots of steals. In the last 10 games he's hitting we'll over 400 and his OBP is nearly 50%. Those are really crazy and if they continue....???
  11. I was a wee bit doubtful at first following his move to high A. You can put me in the true believer column now. 100 runs, 80 RBI's (minimum) and 50 SB's. Yeah this 19 year old is somewhat serviceable. I hope he is moved to Rochester along with Sano to get some pennant race experience. But I'd be surprised if it happens.
  12. Buxton is on FIRE! Last 10 games: Hits. - 15 BB's. - 7 runs. - 9 SB's. - 8 Ave. - .385 OBP. - .478 I guess he just might be adjusting to high "A" ball OK.
  13. Buxton back at 300 after his 2nd straight 3 hit game (6 for 9). 390 the last 10 games with 8 runs and 5 steals.
  14. Sano a HR, A DBL & 2 K's. He's a liability with those K's...trade him for a level 3 pitching prospect. Now, while we can still get something for him!
  15. Walker got HR 26 today & RBI 102, plus a triple. When does he get promoted?
  16. Was Jake correct about the rule? This could be a real embarrassment for the league to have a pair of umpires not know the rules. On the other hand Jake is just a coach :-)
  17. My mistake, thanks for the correction. I accidentally pulled up a day last week. I feel mo better.
  18. Also saw two reports. Buxton out with lost toe nail and has played for a week in pain. Out for a while to heal. Kyle Stewart stepped on a sea shell and is out for a while. Sorry if posted elsewhere but couldn't find.
  19. Sano out for second straight day. I'm almost afraid to ask, but what is it this time?
  20. I saw Sano on MILB recently and he looked BIG. Any word on what his current vital stats actually are?
  21. Today's preoccupation with top end speed is nuts. Okay, okay, I know all the 20 and 30 game winners these day can get it up to 97, but might there be a place somewhere in the Twins lineup for a Warren Sahn kind of pitcher who threw it about 87 (and didn't have a curve ball). I'm not claiming Albers is the next Spahn, just making a point. The staff we have now should not hold any one up. If they need to clear space or money trade a couple of pitchers for some baseballs or anything, even if they have to pay some salary. We get two things from this. First we find out about a relatively young prospect. Secondly, if he cannot throw at the ML level it helps our draft position. Seems like a no lose deal.
  22. Button out again tonight. Injury? Slow trot onna homer? Did they trade him to Detroit for a lock 4th starter?
  23. Another very good outing for Albers. 7 IP, 5 hits, 1 BB, 2 runs. No offensive support, but a great pitching performance.
  24. Must have been a fluke week, he's not in the lineup tonight.
  25. I don't think so. Trading Morneau wouldn't do much damage. We should trade him, but not for that reason. It would open up 1st B for Colabello. Incidentally, C got another 2 R dinger in the 2nd inning to give Gibson a 2-0 lead. Unfortunately, he couldn't hold it.
