    Hot smash where Bell caught the grounder on a short hop with the runner basically standing next to him. Runner first tried to retreat to the bag, Bell stepped on first in the process of trying to tag him, and then the runner basically backpedalled into the outfield while Bell awkwardly tried to chase him down to tag him. Called out for going out of the basepaths well before the run came home

    With Garcia being dropped to make way for Bradley, there's now an 8-way tie for the team lead for saves on the active roster at 1. Also: does this mean there's now an open spot on the 40? Anyone ready to come off the 60-day IL, or are they going slumming for another vet reliever from the bargain DFA bin?

    It was nice to see the Twins on the good end of the dropped-foul-pop-up-leading-to-homer exchange Brooks was about as productive as you can be while going 0-4 with 3 Ks, still scoring twice and making a very nice play at third It was a fun win. Funny how a complete lack of expectations can make for a more fun viewing experience as a fan

    At various times, I've hypothesized that our friend Peter could possibly be Dave St Peter, Chief's burner account, or TC Bear himself. I think we can add Garcia's agent/mom to the list of possibilities

    Good points. But I'd add that Jeffers will be younger than the catchers that signed those larger deals - he'll be 29 this offseason whereas Contreras and Realmuto were heading into their age 31 and 35 seasons, respectively. Do good catchers generally not reach free agency in the first place? So much depends on how he looks upon his return, but I'm not sure if it would be unreasonable to offer the QO even if it's above his projected AAV in free agency given it's just a one year commitment 3/45 for Realmuto and 3/30 for Vasquez tells me that the FA catching market can be strange and unpredictable

    A big part of a player's value in free agency is the list of the other available free agents at their position. Here's a list of top potential free agent targets at catcher this offseason Catcher: Carson Kelly (mutual option), Ryan Jeffers, Tyler Stephenson, Travis d'Arnaud, Kyle Higashioka (mutual option), Gary Sánchez (mutual option), Jonah Heim Jeffers looks pretty good among that group to me. He's two years younger than Kelly, and the rest are roughly replacement level
