  1. I don't know, but whoever it is better strike de Aza out or he'll probably score on a four-base error.
  2. Yeah, if you are unlucky enough to throw it where Dunn swings, it can go a long, long way. It's often straight up, but not that one. Roenicke has a good recovery, though. I've been pleasantly surprised by him so far.
  3. Would have liked to see Diamond strike Dunn out for the third time, personally.
  4. Let's get Diamond back out there and stomp their hopes.
  5. THE HAMMER FALLS!!!!! Veal definitely could not have thrown that pitch.
  6. I withdraw the "fashion accessory" comment. Now let's see him steal second.
  7. de Aza should buy a lottery ticket. He's not only scored both runs, he's gotten two hits from the official scorers on plays that easily could have been errors. Ditto for Keppinger, who's on a Hicks/Dunn level hitless streak but has gotten both RBIs by letting the ball hit his bat. Diamond has basically gone 6 innings, two hits and two unearned runs, unless you are drinking with the official scorer.
  8. ARGHHH!!!!! I was counting on some Dough-Mitt there.
  9. OK, that's a nice at-bat for Morneau. Good patience. Tie game.
  10. Thanks, Adam. Thanks, Robin.
  11. ...said the guy who fired Tony LaRussa.
  12. I hope Hicks breaks out of it- it's impressive that he can keep taking walks. I'm sure it's tempting to swing like crazy and hope to at least make contact instead of taking a called strike three.
  13. So far this year Hicks is using the bat primarily as a fashion accessory. His OBP is more than 4x his BA. I can't imagine that happens very often once a guy plays more than a few games.
  14. I think he was in consideration for a Gold Glove last year at the DH position. A lot of guys just go through the motions at the position, but Dunn is always alert for foul balls while on the bench. He's on the third year of a 4/$56 million deal.
  15. and Diamond's ERA drops from 8.3 to 6 with two scoreless innings. Ah, Spring.
  16. Adam Dunn, now 0 for his last 30 and batting .097. 23 Ks and 3 BBs in 61 ABs. OPS? .367 He makes up for it with his defense, anyway.
  17. Diamond goes 7 w/ 4 earned runs (inc. 3 solo homers). Twins light Floyd the Barber up for a 7-5 win.
  18. Win Twins! Worley looked good today (as I watched the radio). The Sox radio guys were basically laughing about the strike zone, though started complaining near the end as it got a little tighter and also less consistent. Farmer is such a complete idiot. If you ever want to hear a game called in which 40% of the conversation is stories from the 1980s or inane things like asking Darrin Jackson if there were guys he couldn't hit (a question that must come up every two weeks), tune in. Revere is really struggling right now, hitting .220 with 11 k's. I hope he turns it around- Philly could eat him alive before long and he doesn't deserve that. Neither did Mike Schmidt, of course, and it didn't help him.
  19. Not necessarily, and almost certainly not.
  20. Claims don't matter. People buy the stuff other people are discarding at garage sales, too. The important question is whether the claims result in any significant improvement. The Jays claimed Burnett, then DFA'ed him a few days later. Does that go down as a good mark for the Jays? If so, would 50 claims show an even smarter GM?
  21. According to the St Paul paper, Mastro jammed his ankle during the game Monday: http://www.twincities.com/twins/ci_23041472/minnesota-twins-darin-mastroianni-placed-dl-oswaldo-arcia
  22. And that's a Snapper Mow 'Em Down inning! Anyone remember those? Juan Berenguer won a lawn mower for a guy by striking out all three batters once.
