  1. You make it sounds like they are viewing the world through homer colored glasses, which seems unlikely for broadcast professionals. It is nice that he is pitching a good game -- hopefully this will be closer to who he is next year and that much of this season was due to injury/health.
  2. Only if he starts to use a light saber when he bats: http://sociorocketnewsen.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/starwars.jpg
  3. You don't just sense a disturbance in the Force when the site is down (or when a Twins starter does not have a qualified start)?
  4. You had problems getting on the webpage or you have memories fighting in the great war?
  5. Did anyone have problems getting on the webpage the last half an hour? I am watching the Roosevelt series while following the game. Right now they are showing clips of trench warfare in WWI and some of the after effects. I can't even imagine...
  6. I always felt fig newtons were something my Grandpa tried to pass off as a cookie, but I never quite bought that it was really a cookie. Maybe this guy can pitch next year: http://cdn.cakecentral.com/e/ec/900x900px-LL-ec80e2c2_gallery6572601310528884.jpeg
  7. Nostradamus never had to deal with the unpredictability of bullpens. If he did, his prediction rate would have imploded.
  8. Perhaps a new rally monkey (from which we evolved).
  9. Strange, because he is usually so subtle and nuanced.
  10. The same number as the number of hits or perhaps runs that the Twins deliver to drive triumphantly Scherzer out of the game. (I am assuming we will get this answer shortly).
  11. We evolved from a very specific family of monkeys which no longer exists: http://img.costumecraze.com/images/vendors/california/01301-Flying-Monkey-Adult-Costume-large.jpg
  12. You don't want to watch a pitcher's battle between two of the top Cy Young candidates?
  13. As if Fred Gwynne would ever considering managing the Twins after he discovered there was a TwinsDaily game thread that thought Morticia Adams was hotter than Lily Munster. His death would also interfere, although that might not be a barrier for Herman Munster. I think the Twins helped me be fairly non-emotional about the Vikings today. I have seen my fill of painful losses this summer, and might be a little emotionally dead. That, and I think all of the off-field stuff is starting to effect how I feel about the NFL.
  14. Was just watching a little of the Yankees-Baltimore game on Fox. Delmon just pinch-hit. Delmon was looking a little Ruebensque and grounded out (although ran pretty quickly to first), but if the announcers were accurate, sounds like he has been decent as a roleplayer (pinch-hitting -- not late inning defensive replacement).
  15. He was at Fort Meyers in the early part of spring training, and Gardy overheard him say he thought Nick Punto was overrated esp. his hustle, and that is rumored to have contributed to his long stay in AAA.
  16. It is interesting when analyze the stats above (which were nicely written/chosen) from when the game is played when it is partly cloudy vs. when it is partly sunny.
  17. Well -- I guess one positive with this game is that I was able to stay focused on work and did not feel compelled to check the box score or game thread. So thanks Twins for making me a better employee.
  18. This might be one of the more frustrating things of the season. He has such potential to pitch a great game, but I am never confident going into the game that Bad Gibby is not going to rear his less than stellar head.
  19. I am set! http://toprecruit.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/The-Mental-Game-of-Baseball-9781888698541_250x250_scaled_cropp.jpg http://knuckleballsblog.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/watching_baseball_smarter.jpg http://i.walmartimages.com/i/p/09/78/06/18/66/0978061866375_500X500.jpg
  20. What?! With no game thread, it will be a night devoid of meaningful, thoughtful conversations (with a very occasional non sequitur). I guess it will just make me appreciate the thread more tomorrow.
  21. This is not a very mature or productive thought, but part of me would like to see Mauer get it just to see the heads explode and the less than positive reaction on the Strib comment section by the anti-Mauer crowd. Obviously, you should go with the best person, and if it is one the people mentioned in this thread - great (and I don't have a problem with any of them), but I also would not mind seeing some fresh blood from completely outside the Twins system. Hiring from within and being loyal to your employees is great, but sometimes you need some new ideas and new ways of thinking.
  22. He had probably just been working through some off-season rust. He should be good the rest of the year.
  23. I am pretty sure you would also blow him out of the water with your artistic bathroom wall skills. When you look at everything you are the one with more promising talent.
  24. The first wheels were hard to learn how to use -- it was not until the Assyrian's made some improvements that it was easy to use. I still have some problems with fire. I am hoping it is a fad like acid wash jeans and will go out of fashion.
