  1. They were talking about this on 1500 this morning. I guess there is a stat or calculation you can make where you can adjust the team ERA by the fielding numbers. Our team ERA dropped a half a point when you factored in our bad fielding numbers.
  2. There might have been a time when I would have considered Ozzie, but he seemed to get more unbalanced and narcissistic as time went on post-2005. His comments went from being uncensored and entertaining to being all about him and his team seemed secondary in his thoughts. I am guessing Dan has also managed to find a way to blame Mauer for this as well (unless he has stopped beating that horse).
  3. Very classy of Gardy to come to the press conference to thank the club house and staff and the people letting him go. Terry sounded choked up when he said Gardy was like a brother. This was probably necessary, but still a bit sad.
  4. Lassie really was never the same after she battled her tail off.
  5. I think Olbermann is smart, can be witty, and I probably agree with him more often than not. However, he does get tiresome after awhile, due to a combination of his ego, always so sure anyone who disagrees with him is not only wrong but really wrong and possibly a bad person, and his need to feel he always has to say something controversial. There is a reason for his many jobs, where he will initially spike and generate interest, only to burn out and leave or be asked to leave (I suspect he is also not always the easiest to person to work with or for in the office.)
  6. Yes - this is from Lavelle. I suppose some could be rehired by the new manager: LaVelle E. Neal III ‏@LaVelleNeal 31m Holy moly, the entire coaching staff is not being brought back!
  7. About a month ago I thought he was gone, and then like others heard enough from others where I thought he would be back (and there seemed to be a change of momentum on the team in September -- the July swoon did not continue through September.) While I don't place the main blame on him, I think it is time for a change. Still, feel bad for the guy - best of luck to him in the future.
  8. The pig does kind of reflect Brian's sophistication, but probably does not reflect his soul as much Alfred. I am also about to go watch the Vikings with a parent (I also have to bring my Mom to a fabric store before the game -- which will open up many painful childhood memories.) I look forward to see RBs and ChiTown's medals as overpriced memorabilia in the Target Field stores next year. I also could see them being given out before one of the games to the first 10,000 fans through the gate (perhaps when we are in the ALDS next year). Have a good off-season. Thanks for the strangely informative and occasionally disturbing game threads. http://maryellenhunt.com/archives/Election2008/pig-lipstick.jpg
  9. Is this Snepp? http://blogs.westword.com/latestword/peter.cooper.neckbeard.jpg
  10. That helps explain why things have gone so wrong - I thought it was Nunsense makes the world go round. I would have done some thing so differently .....http://chicagotheaterbeat.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/Nunsense4.jpg
  11. I actually am not anti-Jeter and definitely think he has deserved some of the accolades and has always handled himself pretty well. I just think the media has taken the adulation a bit too far. It makes me wonder if he has given them all gift baskets. (and I am a little bitter his retirement tour and media frenzy is coming close to eclipsing when they found out my career was winding down).
  12. I guess he is going to walk across Boston Harbor before his last game at Fenway. He is also going to catch the first pitch thrown out by the big Umpire in the sky himself (a little father son catch deity style).
  13. I guess Josmil Pinto was involved with Sara Palin in a wife swapping adventure that led to some problems with the law in Saskatchewan. Josmil would whisper sweet nothings in Sara's ear in Creole while listening to Yoko Ono's new smooth jazz album which Sara could only hear because of her new cochlear implants. This got back to Gardy and is the real reason for Pinto's limited play time since he has been called up.
  14. Little know fact, Nicolette Island is actually a blending of this two names, and is named after him. He was a voyager in his youth and discovered it on an exploratory mission looking for beaver. He is actually 400 years old, while many would argue he only looks 375.
  15. Tonight was unusual - normally the game threads are focused almost exclusively on the game with an occasional diversion discussing advanced baseball statistics and fielding techniques.
  16. But now she is wondering why you are having hot flashes.
  17. That makes me sad, I thought you and Dozier would be together forever.
  18. Only if he is a train going south at 35 mph and Pinto is on a train going north at 15 mph and paths cross in Gary. (Just what I needed word problem flashbacks).
  19. You watched a lot of Good Times growing up didn't you?
  20. That was my family driving through Cloquet. Nothing like the smell of paper. They must have added some additional filtration, because it is not bad now, but the 70's, early 80s it had a distinct fragrance.
  21. If I remember correctly, the use of coconut is considered very controversial with a senior member of the board. If you end up banned, this will probably be the reason.
  22. I heard he was reading this game thread and that caused the confusion. Unfortunately he was also reading archived game threads so they are afraid it might be aggravated confusion.
  23. I sense you are trying to say something here.
  24. Realty and the game thread have not exactly been known to go together.
  25. I noticed in one of his interviews when he was here last week Torii was extra-complimentary about the Twins organization and how the Twins play. It reminded me a little of 2007, when he was interviewed at every away game, and he would say what a great town this would be to play in if he did not remain in MN. It seemed like there were about ten cities where he said, this is one of the few places I can see myself play. I think he was trying to plant some seeds in MN in case he does not have many options next year.. That said, I think his time has past (which means we will probably sign him). I will say, he remained a good, productive player longer than I anticipated. I remember thinking when he signed the Angels contract that he would be in serious decline before it expired, but that was not the case..
