  1. Danny Santana is the Twins best player. Twins will make room for him wherever..problem....Twins have a terrific shortstop....(who can not play cf) The best chance for the Twins to win...is to play both Santana and Escobar...and there aren't many options. Trade Dozier? Now thats a possibility...but Dozier had a very good year...but so did Escobar and Santana. Play Escobar at 3b? Plouffe actually had a good year...(lead the league in Doubles) So Shafer has earned a chance not a 4th outfielder, but as a starter, Arcia? He will play..until he proves he can't Even if Buxton was healthy, could he start right now, no Utility Player - Nunez..is a terrific option... 4th outfielder? Parmelee a decent option...(this one could be improved) The Twins really dont need to improve the position situation...ALL of their woes are related to Pitching and to a lesser extent defense... As bad as the coaching is..nothing changes until the pitching improves dramatically
  2. Well guys, I hate to break it to you.. but next year will be just as bad...and that is a reason to keep Gardy believe it or not.... First of all Gardy will be back if he wants to be back..Twins wont burn 5mil especially looking at next year and realizing..more of the same is coming... Why next year just as bad? Simple .....Pitching.... Hughes had had a career year...will he be as good next year..I think he will be close.... Now what do we have? Nolasco is showing why we signed him..and with the winter off..I think he rebounds to be ok... Now what? Gibson, Milone and who knows? Gibson will be in the rotation, but is that a good thing? He is at best a number 5 on a good team, but this wont be a good team....so maybe he is a 3 on this team. Milone will be in the rotation and I think he will be better, now he knows the team, the stadium etc. Who will be number 5? My surprise guess...Pelfrey.....again Twins dont want to waste money and when you break everything down...he is probably the best option... Obviously May needs more seasoning....Meyer..big ? Berrios? Maybe.... So Twins will be a mess....Gardenhire coaches final year..and Dougie boy..hopefully will replace him...but I think Twins will go with Molitor....and this may be ridiculous..when I look at Molitor..I think OLD.....Lets get through Gardenhire then go with the young stallion...
  3. If you have read my blogs, you know that I am a huge fan of Sam Deduno. I'm sad to see him leave the Twins, but I believe they gave him every opportunity to succeed, he just couldn't harness his "Krazy" fastball. However when Sam couild harness it, he was unhitable he could beat anybody, anytime and often did. The reverse is true too that he could be wild anytime and walk runners around the bases, then when he tried to throw it straight, opponents would tattoo it. Last year he was the teams best starting pitcher I was very surprised that he did not win the fifth starter position out of Spring Training, Gibson has made me believe that was the right choice. I wondered frequently how Sam could come out of the bullpen. He did have intial success but as the season went on...I got tired of the experiment as he looked awful at times and got hit hard at other times. The only pitcher I would make sure to watch was Deduno, loved his charisma, and his stuff...but when he was bad,he was awful. I understand the move, even agree with it..but this gives me one more reason to not watch the Twins. Lets be clear about this, There will never be another Samuel Deduno! Good Luck Sam, I wish you the highest success.
  4. yes, I dont get giving up alternate days at catcher. Meaning, bring Pinto up, make him the backup catcher....and when he plays we have a chance to put the ball in the seats.
  5. He actually looks better to me ,than Gibson did at the same period
  6. How many of you saw Trevor May slamming his glove down last night, and his other childish displays of anger? Cmon dude, thats little league stuff! No you werent awarded Pitcher of the World tonight, but I hate to say this given your childish reaction, but you pitched a pretty good game against a terrific team. Face it, rookies dont come up and dominate, ask Gibson who struggled mightily last year and was sent back. down. I hope to never see that disgusting display from you again and I hope the coaches slammed your behavior. I know some of you are gonna say, "I'd rather see him fiery than take it and not be bothered by it" That wasnt the case with May, I think he knew the camera was going to be on him and took that time to throw his tantrum.
  7. IT would have to be one of those AJ trades...there are two Twins players that can bring that kind of payoff..actually, I think Gibson could too...but tell the Angels dont absolutely need Hughes..the difference between going to the World Series or not....I really llike Hughes with the Twins, but give me three major pieces..and I have to make that deal
  8. Prospects for Dozier would have to be Near Major League ready...When I say starter for Hughes, I mean a Milone type Pitcher...pushed out by the rotation...that guy plus two top prospects..i hope TR makes that overture... Dozier is the teams most valuable player, but I believe Escobar is runner up for team mvp excluding Perkins
  9. Angels just lost their Ace, What would they give up for Hughes? I m guessing you could get a Starter, and two prospects...If you are blown away..you have to take it...I know, I know..Hughes and Contract etc..but We could replace Hughes or close to it..AND add...two quality prospects how do you not take that? Same with Dozier...we are looking pretty good in the infield at the moment...escobar to 2nd...If you got two top prospects for Dozier, would you move him? I would While thinking about it...do you think Vargas will break camp with the Twins? I thought Pinto would be the primary catcher this year..so..I dont know...what do you think?
  10. Quiet? How? He has been spectacular, both on the good and bad side...how does that equate to Quiet or Solid?
  11. wholeheartedly agree on pitchers...but if we are depending on prospects we are at least 3 years away from contention
  12. another thing, cf check means, the Twins need to play Escobar and Santana at same time
  13. Well reasoned, Id like to add a few comments, for example..1b for example is only set because of contract..We are really wasting a position but ok..we want Mauers bat, so lets concentrate on adding the power in the outfield. Disagree on Schafer, is there a better fourth outfielder out there? Dont see too many... Catching ..yes ..backup catcher is a toss up...agreed on this.. but the bottom line.is our Pitching will still be weak no matter if we upgrade the lineup..
  14. just saying we need a lot....and to fill the holes is improbable
  15. C Check 1b Check 2b Check SS Check 3rd base - Can improve CF -Check Thats it guys, we need two outfielders, Could use a better 3rd baseman Backup Catcher - Pinto Would Improve us but will Twins do it>? Pitchers - Hughes, Gibson, >>??? This all adds up to another losing season The only position that we cant improve on is 2b...wow
  16. I dont like how our "hitting" coaches want to change people..hey if they arrive in MLB, they are what they are, have we seen a successfull change yet? Arcia, probably will never be the same...and there are many others..tell me one player, that has gotten to be a better hitter once arriving at the major league level
  17. TR got another decent return when I thought they were gonna just have to DFA Willingham. Good job, so whats the problem in the organization, talent evaluation?
  18. I think he must be. I mean he waves at everything, fastballs, curveballs, change up, balls above his head, balls in the dirt..etc. Once a promising power hitter, the Twins of course tried to change him..NEWSFLASH..to Twins Hitting Coach.. LEAVE HIM ALONE....he is a power hitter plain and simple. Im real tired of the Arcia Experiment, please bring somebody else up..at lease the next guy would wave with enthusiasm!

    Why I Liked Bill Smith

I hated the Capps trade too, but you have to admit if you were trading for an elite pitcher, you would have to say good trade and Capps was the best available at the time, (starting to get sick just saying that)
  20. Seriously, you will give Anderson credit for relief pitchers? Can you tell me a Twins reliever that has not done well for at least some portion of his stint with the Twins? You can do better than that...
  21. Well reasoned and I agree
  22. You missed the point sir, Diamon in and of himself means nothing, Diamond combined..with Worley and Liriano..means a lot

    Why I Liked Bill Smith

    nice observation...and agree
  24. you cant be serious....the all time Miracle Home Run Champion has to increase his obp and cut down on his strikeouts? You dont remember Dave Kingman do you?
