  1. The Lewis scenario seems both spicy and balanced to me. If the Marlins can't get a bat like that with very high upside, I expect them to hold Luzardo into the season and gamble that he stays healthy and re-establishes himself. Larnach doesn't really fit. Marlins have several young LHB corner OF that are ready to be tested in the majors. Don't think Larnach is a substantial enough upgrade over them.
  2. I was fully with you until this part! C'mon, Ted, that's the one thing the Marlins HAVE done extremely well in recent years: unlock talented pitchers. Luzardo arrived to them 3 years ago at a career crossroads and they have turned him into a genuine No. 2/No. 3 starter. They even have another guy in their current rotation, Ryan Weathers, who is on a similar trajectory (though Weathers is doubtful to be on the block at this deadline). Brooks Lee is a logical centerpiece in such a deal, but I think there would need to be a couple substantial additional pieces to outbid other interested teams.
  3. I cannot envision the Marlins trading Arraez this offseason, but within the next year, it is unfortunately looking far more likely than an extension. Without knowing specifically what sort of money Arraez expects from an extension, it'd be an awful setback for the team. He's such an important "floor-raiser" for a lineup even if he has his flaws in other areas.
  4. Marlins correspondent here! Every Luzardo trade scenario is pretty deflating, although I recognize this figures to be the peak of his value, so it’s unsurprising that Miami is considering it. Trade #1 would be the easiest to stomach. Passing on Lee in the draft was such an unforced error.
