  1. Of those 3, I think Foster Griffin was the trade that would have been the best fit the Twins. Part of the reason Gausman's trade for a prospect haul was so small was because the Cubs took on the remainder of Gausman's salary. Although Tom P did open up the pocketbook to expand payroll for the trade deadline, I think taking on Gausman's salary would have been too much and other options were available, such as Griffin, which wouldn't have taken as much payroll commitment. Think of the offseason where we could have done a better job fixing the bullpen with the money we spent on Josh Bell. That's how I look at the Gausman trade possibility. We either wouldn't have been able to upgrade the bullpen or would have had to give up better prospects. Ward is an interesting case as it seems like we already have too many OF or converted OF on the 40-man. The better solution would be to just call up Walker Jenkins and save the $3.5M in remaining salary. Yes, I know Jenkins is a LHB but, had the Larnach trade went through, that frees up the LH situation. You could have swapped Ward for Larnach and still called up Jenkins for Roden or Martin. Keaschall could then go to LF and Ward to CF. No, I'm not secretly working for the Pohlads in suggesting that it's too much money. My point is that the money is always a factor in a trade proposal. I know both Zoll and Pohlad did say they were buyers and did buy at the deadline. Even with those statements, I can guarantee there was still a budget in place on how much to spend at the deadline, as most teams not named the Dodgers have. I think there should be a realization made that the team is flawed and there was no fixing an offseason's worth of missteps at the deadline, especially when you didn't trade any of the pieces that could have helped make the remaining pieces fit better, such as Larnach, either Jeffers or Jackson, and Bell if you could have found a suitor.
  2. That's what I don't understand. We tagged 3 runs on Misiorowski, which hasn't been done in a month and Preilipp came through and gave us a chance to win. Wouldn't have guessed that at all from the start of the game. Definitely missed chances to win the game in the late innings. Before the road trip started, I would have taken a .500 road trip. We were a bad two games in KC away from doing it.
  3. This is obviously his career numbers. From a quick synopsis, he had one of his worst seasons in Minnesota. When the bullpen was a strength for the team, he appears to have been the odd man out. Especially with Pagan, Jax, Thielbar, and Duran. Seems like he was a casualty of the situation. I'd have to go back and research what actually happened, but that is what I can glean from his immediate stats.
  4. Trapped in DC gridlock as the Nationals are the only team that actually uses it. I think the Tigers and D-backs actually have one available, but I've never seen anyone use it.
  5. Is it bad to hope that Martin gets plunked here? Seems like his best chance to get on base.
  6. Maybe the Pohlads will sell this team and invest in a Banana Ball team. Did you see the crowds at Target Field tonight?
  7. Hoffman was a curious choice for the 8th. Threw 25 pitches last night and 3 of the last 4 games. This says more about how much they trust Rogers than it does about Hoffman here.
  8. 😬😬😬😟😟😟 - is that the correct amount of emojis that Peter posts?
  9. I'm not sure I would have made the trade either. Just suggesting it's a closer deal than many would think. Neto is likely to be a 20/20 man for the third year in a row. Neto is a known quantity vs the mystery box. For all we know, Culpepper may end up like Lewis and have a hot start and languish for the next 2-3 years with injuries similar to Royce since he has been battling random injuries all season. Sometimes there's a price to pay for that. Kind of like owning real gold vs owning stock in gold exploration companies. The mining companies only pay out when they hit. And no, that is not stock advice at all. Not trying to get TD in trouble for anything.
  10. I think that's a closer call than Jenkins. I'm sure there would have to be some details that would have to be addressed to make it even. You're expecting the same path for Neto as we are for Culpepper. Neto would have been our SS until Houston makes it to the majors and then Neto likely shifts to 3rd. I'm not sure how a specific trade would work, but it would be much closer than what the Angels were asking for in Jenkins.
  11. Will it be renamed Permanent Struggle Time if it goes through?
  12. Another possibility when listening to interviews of pitchers has been the stuff that works changes from start to start so it may take an inning to figure out what will and won't work today.
  13. He is a special case where I think there should be a Commissioner button should be allowed to be pushed. People who belong in the HOF that, for whatever reason, didn't get in. Sort of fixing a falling through the cracks. He has been out of baseball long enough to be passed over multiple times by the Veterans Era Committee. I'm not sure the history of why he has been passed over. To me, that is why the Commissioner should be able to step in in rare circumstances, especially since it is reported that John is in hospice care.
  14. IDK, many a pastor has been able to overlook that Commandment. Televangelists seem to be about the worst. Kreidler may have been able to ask for forgiveness there.
  15. Bring this show back with Kreidler in the poster?
  16. Kreidler refuses to go quietly into that good night.
  17. Non-game note. Honestly didn't realize that Tommy John was still alive. Read his statement he made to the Yankees today for Old-Timer's Day. That man needs to be in the HOF. His contribution to baseball is immeasurable, even if the numbers may not be quite there.
  18. I know the saying is to not make the first or third out at 3rd base. Anymore, the players are fast enough to score from 2nd base on a hit. I'm not sure that any out at 3rd base is safe anymore.
  19. Still remember Sabato's best asset was 'light-tower power'. I cringe every time I hear that because that usually means there are no other skills which that player possesses.
  20. I think his batting will continue to improve. I'm not sure he has been on the IL this year (likely wrong) and he is getting more comfortable at his new defensive position. Relaxing on one end of the game should help him relax on the other end.
  21. Most impressive of Royce's AB was his patience. Took the first strike because it wasn't his pitch. Found a mistake he liked and hit it. Great AB Royce!
  22. Nice pitch count for Gasser. Great patience by the Twins!
  23. Mine as well. I figured they were trying to fix the game and didn't want anyone to notice. Twins can do it all themselves. They don't need any help.
