    For the life of me, I cannot understand how Pagan continues to be on the roster. JFC. The guy's broken. Whatever the Twins are hoping to find or fix, it isn't happening. In a division race that will likely go into September, Pagan costing you games looms large.

    Castro always seemed to kill the Twins when he was with Detroit, or at least he did last season. I was happy when they signed him and he's done way more than expected. Best part if he's under team control for a couple more seasons. Twins need to keep him around.

    Props to Falvey and Levine. When they mess up, they get a lot of criticism and rightfully so. But, when one of their moves pays off, they deserve the credit and recognition. Seems like pitchers like Stewart have been their MO for a while - hard throwing with some control issues - hope being if they can tweak something to cut down the walks, you'll have a hard throwing, high-leverage arm. That's Stewart to-date. This is also what makes the line-up woes so frustrating. With Stewart, Jax and Duran at the back-end of games, the Twins' pitching staff has the makings of one that could make a run in October. That's hard to do though when 3 runs might be too much for your offense to overcome.

    Props to Ryan. Big time performance. Much needed win and keeps the 'pen fresh heading into a big series against Detroit. Nice to see the offense get some early runs. Buxton and Kepler starting to heat up.

    I'd like to see Taylor re-signed for 1 year with a team option for 2025. It gives you time to evaluate if Lewis is a long-term option at CF, or if someone like Celestino or Martin will emerge. Not really sure what to think about Buxton. Would moving him to RF keep him healthier? Regardless, I don't see him being an everyday CF going forward.

    I do remember Correa and Popkins hitting it off, and Correa crediting him for the late season hot streak. As I said, I may be completely off-base with my assessment of Popkins. In his defense, I'm taking the shortest and most direct line from the offensive woes to the hitting coach. If it isn't him, it has to be 'something' because this is a historically anemic line-up and on paper, at least, it shouldn't be. I am in agreement that the thought of Falvey and Levine hiring replacements is very sobering.

    Fair enough. Sometimes, even if the approach hasn't changed, players just need a different voice. I know absolutely nothing about Popkins' personality and his relationship with the players so I may be totally off-base with this. But...maybe the answer is as simple as that. He's not reaching the players (for whatever reason).

    It's a fair question and I may certainly be wrong but I do think something has changed. Those three are headed towards the worst years of their careers. Collectively, the team is on pace to strikeout more than one of the worst teams in the history of baseball (Oakland). Right or wrong, in a results oriented business, that kind of performance tends to get people fired.

    You can't strike out as much as this line-up does without there being something wrong with the approach or philosophy. The Twins have struck out 771 times. More than the Oakland A's. Kepler's career average is .230. After last night, he's at .200. I will concede on Gallo, he's in-line with his career average. But, what about Correa - almost 60 points lower. And, Buxton - 30 points lower. Those are pretty steep drops and I don't attribute them to a lack of talent. It's something with the approach.

    Also, count me as someone that is done with Sonny Gray. The guy that barked the most about pitching deep into games has suddenly turned into a pumpkin when he enters the fourth inning. It's maddening to watch him pitch. The longer he's on the mound, the less he trusts his stuff. You can see him battling and nibbling. Trust your stuff and go after the hitter.

    My wish list begins and ends with fire Popkins. If Gallo, Kepler, Buxton and Correa were even at their career averages, the Twins are probably 10 games over .500 right now and in cruise control compared to the rest of the division. I simply do not understand how this man is allowed to be employed.

    I don't blame Rocco for the inability to hit. That's entirely on Popkins and Hernandez - although, if Rocco is the final voice in their being hired and currently retained, then perhaps he does deserve the blame. When I watch the Twins right now, I see a team that is totally dead and lifeless. Teams take on the personality of their manager and I think a fresh voice and one with a little more passion would go a long way to jumpstarting Correa and Buxton.

    I'm still a believer in Buxton and without Buxton, there's no Correa. And yes, I'm a believer in Correa as well. Put them with a different manager, and you have two superstar talents for the next 5+ years. It is a luxury for a franchise like the Twins. Time for the Pohlads to do the right thing and move on from Rocco.

    Something else to consider with Maki. When you're a pitcher with a razor thin margin for error - think, giving up 3 runs and you're likely looking at a loss - it definitely impacts how you pitch. This team's starting pitchers take the mound knowing they need a quality start - at the minimum - to even keep the Twins in a game.

    With all of that said about Rocco, the Twins allegedly have two superstars - Byron Buxton and Carlos Correa. At some point, your best players need to be just that - rise above it and get your team to follow. Cannot be more disappointed in both of them - especially Correa who has a reputation of being one of baseball's best leaders and culture builders.

    Along with the horrendous offense, big indictment on Rocco is how this team deals with adversity. Was really evident against Detroit. A mistake is made - in the field or on the base paths - and it just gets compounded. Zero fight or toughness on this team.

    I've been a Twins fan since 1986. This year's team inspired me to join TD. Can't recall a more underwhelming or disappointing Twins team - at least not in recent memory. Rocco needs to go. If you take away the mirage of 2019, his managerial resume speaks for itself. Anyone that wants to go out on a limb and defend him and/or his coaching staff - weird hill to die on.
