  1. Buck's always been feast or famine at the plate. When he's got it going, he can carry the team for games at a time. But when he's struggling, he's an automatic out. Maybe Sunday's game is a sign of things to come. Would be a welcomed development for the remainder of the West Coast trip.
  2. Varland to the bullpen seems like the most likely and sensible move they could make. I think that's where his future is.
  3. I'd also add SWR and Martin for Berrios, mostly because I don't think they re-sign Berrios. And even if they did, with the payroll restraints, they wouldn't have signed Correa.
  4. If Farmer and Margot are 'crucial', then the Twins are in some serious trouble.
  5. Third dominant starting pitching performance tonight.
  6. The wheels are likely to fall off at some point for Cleveland, but they've given themselves a pretty long leash. Most likely outcome, IMHO, is they win the division and have the worst record among the division champs and they get waxed in the post-season by the third wildcard, which I think will wind up being Houston.
  7. Just for fun, if you take away the 11 losses against the Yankees, Orioles and Dodgers, the Twins are 25-22 against everyone else. You can certainly argue that competing with those teams should be the benchmark, but the Twins have always struggled with the Yankees and I think they'd fare much better against the Dodgers now than they did in April. And I think we now understand just how good Royce Lewis is, so that too needs to be factored in when evaluating the month of April - which nearly derailed the entire season.
  8. They are ahead of last year's pace of 89 wins and that's with Lopez and Duran struggling, and with Correa, Buxton and Lewis having missed time. If Lopez and Duran round into form, and if Correa and Lewis stay healthy, the Twins will be playing post-season ball.
  9. Maybe I'm not giving the Guardians enough credit. Admittedly, I dislike them as much as I dislike the Yankees. An annoying fan base and a roster full of pests and PITA's.
  10. They will be tough to catch and it probably won't happen for the Twins. It is just one of those outlier seasons where it has gone right for Cleveland. Ramirez is a tremendous player but he's on pace for 41 HR / 145 RBI season. Naylor's on pace for 43 HR / 124 RBI. Clase is on pace for 52 saves. The rest of the lineup is middling and their bullpen arms have been used a lot this season. I can't recall a team being so dependent on three players. Enjoy it for 2024. It won't happen again in 2025.
  11. Whatever mechanical adjustments Pablo made, keep it up!
  12. Royce, ok? Noticed Martin pinch hitting.
  13. Need a big game from Ober tomorrow. The bullpen can't be trusted.
  14. Rocco went with the JV lineup yesterday. Should have rested Buxton then. Giving a night off at the start of a series is unusual.
  15. How bad is this bullpen right now? Funderburk is slightly better than Jackson. Thielbar is unplayable. Duran is broken.
  16. This team is so damn streaky. They get in a funk and stay there a bit.
  17. Yup. Put up some good #'s when he was at St. Paul so hopefully it continues.
  18. Same. Henriquez is the only other one. Maybe Winder?
  19. Not certain but I don't think he's on the 40.
