  1. I think Morales would be a good investment but they won't spend the money, Hart or Loney is probably more in the price range. A ss/3b would be nice as well but they will probably roll with whats in house.
  2. I would like to see them sign 3; Ubaldo, Haren/Arroyo, and Hughes/Hammel. Wouldn't mind a flyer on Johan as long as hes not actually being counted on to fill a top 4 rotation spot, and wouldn't mind if they went after Bartolo. For the position players I would like to see Hart or Loney, a corner outfielder that can actually play defense and start (Melky fits this mold), and an infielder that could push Plouffe/ Florimon if they struggle.
  3. Anytime I hear the robotic umpires thing it makes me think of this old Hunter Thompson article. Obviously it is in jest but dammit this would be entertaining as all hell to watch. ESPN.com: Page 2 : Baseball has become unruly
  4. This seems to be the kind of contract they should pursue. It won't take 5+ years so even if its an overpay it can be written off before the new crop of in house products needs to be paid. It would not be that prohibitive there is a lot of cap room and it shouldn't be significantly more than Morneau's contract was. They need to get some talent in here, I think it would be stupid to bring the prospects up to cut their teeth on another 90+ loss team. They don't have to hand out 100+ million dollar contracts left and right but they are going to have to gamble on free agency some. Good free agents generally get their markets value and it takes money to play, if they don't gamble they won't win anything. If they bet nothing and sign cheap, known, "reliable", low risk commodities (Corriea) or just go dumpster diving for rehabs (Pelfry) then the staff will continue to be what it is.
  5. After trying so hard to make a Radke clone out of all the soft tossing control pitchers they have drafted and aquired, once one finally succeeds they want to be able to slap a Radke jersey on him and "say see hes back, Terry Ryan/ Rick Anderson know what they are doing."
  6. Due to proximity I have seen or listened to a fair share of Giants games over the last couple years and Lincecum still has good stuff. He isn't the flame thrower he once was but the Ks are still there. I think it would be a decent gamble to bet that as he continues to learn to pitch instead of throw to deal with his decreased velocity he finds sucess again. Could this be the rare elusive pitcher that Anderson's coaching techniques can actually help? probably not but I would be happy to see him wearing a TC hat.
  7. But comments wouldn't go through for me, so I will try again. I am a displaced twins fan from MN living in CA, and I work at a sports bar so I have had to watch Giants fans celebrate their world series, the Niners fans celebrate getting to the super bowl (and then watching their spirits crushed), and now the Dodgers run all while bemoaning how many damn sports teams there are in this state and how none of the MN ones I root for are any good at the moment (holding out hope for the Wolves). I thought Gardy should have been let go but it isn't a disaster hes back, I wonder if it was a move to ease Mauer's transition to first, it might have been a more difficult sell if it was a new staff telling him to hang up the catching gear. I have hopes of improvement for 2014 though I think playoffs is a pretty long shot, once the kids are here and seasoned though things will get interesting. I hope the Pohland's are not just blowing smoke about spending money, they need to acquire some legit major league starters so there is a culture of winning for the prospects to come up too. I really hope they do not bring Pelfrey back, I can't handle watching him pitch. Oh and Pat Neshek is definitely my favorite Twin of all time, moar submarine please.
  8. I wonder if they could work something out to send Morneau and get Hechevarria back since the Jays should be set in the middle infield with Lawrie/ Reyes and 3rd with EE.
  9. I love these break downs, the picture and .gif breakdowns of mechanics and positioning and all that are the most interesting articles in all of the sports world to me. Great and very interesting work.
  10. If based purely on performance that 1/2 a year of pre TJ Liriano is at least top 3 if not the best. Obviously that story went horribly wrong but damn was he nasty when he first came up.
  11. Marcum, Baker, and a close to ready prospect return for someone (probably Span) and it would be a nice TR money saving overhaul of the starting staff and there would still be money to spend on an infielder or 2.
  12. With Mauer changing around positions more now it would be interesting to see if he could handle 3rd, he has played a nice first base and definitely has the arm to throw across the diamond
  13. so now we have 3 catchers + 13 pitchers + 6 possible outfielders defiantly a well constructed roster.
  14. The Hidden Stache; A Carl Pavano Story. This guy is a loon.
  15. Revere will be fine in left it hides his arm and its not going to sap to much range from him because they can just play span in right center to make up for Willinghams slow feet.
  16. Ive been all for drafting Giolito im still all for drafting him I think he is the best pitcher in the draft kid has massive potential. I just hope now with Appels stock falling abit that he is still available at 2.
  17. Dinkel DH rears its monstrous head again!
  18. Hmm if anyone it would be the red wings I would be expecting to want to change affiliation we should be stacking the rock cats with some exciting players this year
  19. the force of the downward plane
  20. Wow pretty ridiculous he is going to get off with roiding for an MVP because the courier was an idiot.
  21. The dome played into his big season but I think he can hit 13-18 a year consistently so ill say 15 and who knows that number could go up a bit the less he catches.
