Tigers 3, Twins 2: Nick Gordon Show isn't Enough
rwilfong86 replied to David Youngs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
What if he goes to the Field of Dreams and convinces Killebrew and Puckett to come out of the cornfield and play for us? ?- 40 replies

What’s the Ceiling for Trevor Larnach?
rwilfong86 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Looks like he could have a promising future as the Twins starting left fielder, would like to see him lower that strikeout % and get more hits with RISP. -
Tigers 3, Twins 2: Nick Gordon Show isn't Enough
rwilfong86 replied to David Youngs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
As bad as this week has gone, they've still got a 4.5 game lead over Cleveland right now and 5 over the White Sox. It's pretty bad when you have a 3-7 stretch and haven't really lost any ground in the division.- 40 replies

Top of the order (2,3,4) I can understand, but leadoff? That's entirely different. Especially when Buxton and Arraez are both options. And even Larnach would be a better option IMO. I knew it was gonna be a disaster before the game even started.

Yep, Jim Kaat specifically mentioned that yesterday, it messes with guys when they don't know if or where they will be playing or hitting in the lineup. Rocco needs to set a lineup and stick with it because his incompetence is killing this team again.

Alright Rocco defenders, how do you justify a lineup where Garlick is hitting leadoff? Wait. You can't. The guy is clueless.

Agreed, Miranda needs to just hold onto that ball and not try to get too cute. As far as Correa and Buxton, Rocco strikes again.

Week in Review: Wearing Thin
rwilfong86 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Hopefully Sonny is okay, pitched a gem yesterday and was hoping he could have went another inning at least to rest the bullpen. -
Royce Lewis Suffers A Bone Bruise In His Knee
rwilfong86 replied to Lucas Seehafer PT's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Hopefully Royce will bounce back and not have any hesitancy about playing center and chasing balls near the wall. I've seen guys do things like that and never be aggressive going near the wall again. -
Twins 7, Royals 3: Gray Tops Greinke, Royals

I think you are absolutely right. They overachieved and got lucky with an easy schedule and now we may be seeing who the real Twins are, which could very well be the team we saw last season.

One bright spot is with his 3 hits, Arraez has brought his average to .359 and his OBP to .455. It will be fun to see him chase a batting title for the rest of the season.

Sanchez has been solid, and with the issues the Yankees are having with Donaldson and now with him being out and Rortvedts injury it seems more and more the Twins are gonna end up winning that trade.

Working counts, do you mean last night when they swung at the first pitch 5 consecutive at bats after a 5 pitch walk? That sure was a great example. The Twins 6 batters saw a total of 10 pitches. Great job of running up the pitch count wasn't it? Analytics is neutral, but it's what a team does with the data that determines success or failure. And the overemphasis on letting the "computer" determine what happens is gonna lead to failure if they don't adapt to be more situational rather than "by the book". Rocco has made some pretty horrible management decisions based on the data and last night was a golden example of that.

The Twins are in first place because they've had a stretch of great starting pitching, timely hitting, a few lucky bounces, and the White Sox have been trash. I'm not sure what analytics has to do with any of those things. I would guess probably at least half of their losses can be blamed on analytics and Rocco's inability to use his brain but I'm not sure any rational person could give credit to analytics for their success. They're winning in spite of analytics, not because of it.
