  1. I don't follow the upper levels as much as I do the lower levels, for one because I don't see them in person but still quite a few of the guys in GCL last year have stepped up this year against better competition Travis Blankenhorn - knew Blanky's stroke was meant for power but his display thus far has been impressive Lachlan Wells - Gets downgraded due to his size and velo but the kid can pitch and commanding his pitches hasn't been a problem Andrew Vasquez - Saw where Theopanolos and Melotakis were getting some love as lefty relievers but Andrew has the best breaking ball in the Twins' minors, he's put up great numbers so far for Etown/CR this year.
  2. I wonder how much of a talking to he got from the ChiSox management after pulling that. Last thing you want is for your first round pick to get injured minutes after taking him.
  3. I personally thought the ump was going to call Hawkins out, even though Eades lost the ball during the tag Courtney was walking out of the baseline and headed towards his dugout. Still just would have been easier to throw to first, don't think Eades has Lester issues.
  4. Well Ryan Eades' weird play yesterday has made it's way around the internet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4tR_1Zvskw
  5. Videos from the GCL on Saturday: Huascar Ynoa was 91-97 mph with his fastball averaging 94. His slider was 77-81mph, his curve was 72-74mph and his change was 81-83mph. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mtCpwjiITw8 Akil Baddoo's 2run homer down the right field line: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQmk9dOPrIY Lean Marrero double off the Green Monster https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePr4j6Bv39w Matz Schutte on the mound: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKf9I8D28pM Aaron Whitefield on the bases, stealing second and getting picked off https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iD10E5S7Vno Justin Hazard at the plate https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjVIb2WqoXE Kidany Salva 2016 17th round pick: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ZHVRvgJN_c
  6. In one day, Wiel raised his batting average from .252 to .261 pretty impressive considering he already has 450+ plate appearances.
  7. GCL notes on 8/6: Bo Hellquist threw the ball well, his 3/4 delivery slings across his body allowing his 84-88mph FB to play up with good run in on RHH. His curveball was on as well at 73-75mph with good slow bend. As a lefty with his delivery, to a LHH the ball seems two feet behind your head. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2i87BVb2q0 RHP Callan Pearce FB was 88-91mph https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k68x59uuWjY Aaron "Whitey" Whitefield hitting 8/5 and 8/6: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--INojZU0CA
  8. Video of Taylor Clemensia pitching 8/5/2016, FB 85-88mph Breaking ball 74-77mph https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozY2PNrfRNo Video of Aaron Whitefield's Double: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CIGxuKmOsLk
  9. Never saw Florimon play, but Vielma reminds me of Rey Ordonez if that makes anyone feel better.
  10. Yes a hamstring injury is NEVER "just a hamstring", it's one of the most important muscles for an athlete in general but it is also one of the most vulnerable to damage. The injury differs based upon the severity of the grade (I, II, or III) as well as where the injury occurred (was it in the belly of the muscle, tendon insertion or origin) in addition to the fact of which one of the hamstring muscles it was (semitendinosus, semimembranosus, biceps femoris). So a "just hamstring" injury can be anywhere from two week layoff to eight-ten week layoff or longer if it's "hamstring syndrome" or needs surgery. That is all for Dr. Tarr's injury synopsis for today
  11. We are talking about the same Ervin Santana here right? The 33yo career average starting pitcher who's due 27M/2YR? Twins fans are talking like this guy is a Cy Young candidate
