Hmm, go to college or sign for $X million... Despite how much fun I had in college, I'd take the $X million worse case I have the money to pay for the college after chasing the dream. Somehow its not blocked by the CBA but a kid can get drafted by an MLB team and sign out of HS play a season or two, then go back to college and play on the football team with a scholarship.

I like your picks and hope you get the Kirilloff and Curbelo picks right, I've already seen them in action against the highest competition at the WWBA but also chatted with them and their parents, both are signing but won't come at discounts.

You really are bullish on Munoz, he's got soft hands and wheels, kid has been leading off for most of the EXST. Kendrick has been getting time in LF, as his parents just brought down his brother's OF glove. Kendrick without question has the best eye/approach at the plate and when he hits it, it flys. Cabbage has been playing mainly 3B with a little SS while Blankenhorn has almost exclusively played 2B in EXST.

Great to see Williams Ramirez off to a good start, I probably saw him throw more innings than any other Twins pitcher in GCL. He's got good stuff and hitters have a hard time picking up the ball on him. He's his own worst enemy as his walks are what gets him in trouble.

When pulling the EXST pitchers on who they like to throw to this spring, the name that came up the most was Brian Navaratto. One pitcher said, "he just knows how to catch - doesn't stab at it like some guys and makes you comfortable with throwing in the dirt." The names of guys still in EXST that got some votes were Rainis Silva and the other surprising one was a 2016 UDFA Bryant Hayman.

Like with most pitchers , if you can start him do it, save the bullpen as a back up plan when starting is no longer viable

If I know Fernando he wasn't happy coming out with a no-hitter. The 63 pitches is in line with where he was maxing out in EXST. Any reports of velo?

Article: Draft Whispers

What I can't believe is the helium Justin Dunn out of Boston College has been getting, went from pretty much unknown at beginning of the year and now looking as a mid to late first rounder.- 35 replies

Well your Braves are looking good for Groome at #3 with Philly going for a college guy at #1 as well as the Reds. As one scout I talked to said you, pretty hard to get fired for taking a 6'6 lefty who throws 97 ala Puk. Still I'd rather have Groome.- 35 replies

Great kid, very talkative. Looks like he eliminated some of that herky jerky delay motion in his delivery where he drops down that he had even in GCL last year. Can't really tell from that angle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kacNVSGB-4

Just talked to him - he doesn't know, he says he's ready to get called up now and I can't disagree too much. The velo is there as he's hitting as high as 98, his slider is nasty 88-90 and he's throwing his change for strikes. My guess is they want his pitch count up as the most he's thrown in EXST to date is about 60 pitches in an outing.

Matt Bush Returns to Baseball
Bob Sacamento commented on nicksaviking's blog entry in nicksaviking blog
The back story of the Texas Rangers scout rediscovering him working at a Golden Corral in Jacksonville (making $8.05 an hour) was nice a touch - even nicer was that he clocked Bush throwing 95 mph in shoes/dress pants in the parking lot. Other notes I heard on Bush, played RF for the Correctional League softball team - didn't throw a baseball until the Rangers scout got him to at the restaurant. Talent will always get you another chance or two, just seems like the Rangers are more apt to it than most teams: Josh Hamilton, Ron Washington... He's got a sober coach the team has him working with, apparently he's had problems with alcoholism since high school. And for those wondering about money and saving it, he pretty much lost/spent it all - 12 brand new cars will do that. -
Exactly, the FSL is known for being a Pitcher's League. Gonsalves still has a few things to work on before getting the bump but talking to the MiLBers in camp right now and they all believe Gonsalves is more deserving of the promotion than his rotation mate Stewart.

In the Extended Spring Training world, Fernando Romero started the game going 3 IP, throwing 47 pitches, giving up 2 hits, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K. His fastball was 93-97 mph averaging 95 mph with his slider at 88-90 mph and a 78-83 mph changeup. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QaPQ5AbVKvg Johan Quezada was impressive on the mound with a fastball 95-99 mph and a 74-77 mph curveball. At At 6'9 226lbs, Quezada uses every bit of his frame, he's always thrown hard as I saw him hit 102 mph once last year but now he's started to throw strikes and he's getting his curveball over for strikes as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AoFUp6efgmk 2014 37th rounder Tyree Davis hit a monster two run homerun over the pseudo Green Monster; the kid has a strong power and speed combo. 2015 4th rounder Trey Cabbage continues to swing a hot stick, with a standup triple. 2015 8th Rounder Kolten Kendrick was 0-1 but walked twice continuing to show an advanced approach at the plate. Roberto Gonzalez has been swinging a good bat, this at bat was not one of them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qtzN2g63Pw South African Callan Pearce threw the last two innings and showed a good 88-92 mph fastball,72-76 mph curveball and 81-83 changeup. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIR_U-0_gZs On another note, Lewis Thorpe suffered a setback with shoulder tightness which is the reason he hadn't thrown recently in Extended ball. I was told that it's nothing major just the team taking precautionary measures. Still it puts his time table back for affiliated ball a little bit.

Article: Mock Draft v. 1.0
Bob Sacamento replied to Jeremy Nygaard's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I think you mean JJ. Schwarz out of Florida, big bat potential but there are issues/questions with his defense and it could take longer to develop then what his bat will take to develop and he's average defensively at best. That happens quite often where a player can develop as a catcher but his bat is too advanced to waste it in the minors mastering the craft -Bryce Harper, Paul Konerko, Carlos Delgado, Wil Myers, etcetera.- 67 replies
