  1. Poor Matt Tomshaw - Another flawed, non sexy, no love, player who all he does is produce? Age my............................... Flawed ranking system with regards to him. Dickey was old as hell when he made his Knuckler work. I hope he goes elsewhere and gets the chance to at least fail.
  2. Out of curiosity - Who are we basing this red flag test on? Who on the Twins that has past this red flag test and why aren't we winning with them over the last 4 years? Why is this red flag criteria so important to the fan base - more so than league leading production numbers? I can count so many players in the farm system who have had an outstanding OBP yet can't score runs by themselves because that is their only true tool. Dalton Hicks is another overlooked prospect that only produces year in and year out and receives very little love. He saves so many errors with his glove around the bag on throws.
  3. Are the Red Flags the League leading 25 HRs or the 95 RBI. Would you care about his red flags if he had the same production in the MLB and same K Rate and low OBP? The crazy part is he has never Not been productive at any level. Even in his poorsest season in the Cape Cod - He led his Hyannis Team in HRs and RBI while helping them to their first championship in 23 years. Yes I said 23 years. Did he have K's - Yes. But 23 years and you're the top run producer on that team. Why do we continue to wait for his failures when all he has done is Win and Succeed at every level? Trust me, after a similar season in AA - everyone will say - "I'll wait to see if he can do this at the AAA level where the pitchers are better". Your Red Flags haven't stopped him from being a productive professional hitter.
  4. I'm liking Walker at 13. I also think he will have a Vargas like improvement in 2015. Vargas improved his K rate; BB rate; BA; SLG%; & OPS; from A+ to AA. So for those who say "it becomes more difficult at the next level" - It ain't always so. Seth is right about Walker being one of the top run producers in baseball. His 162 game averages over his minor league career stand at: 33 HRs; 124 RBI; 102 Runs; 27 Doubles; 6 Triples; ^ a 82% Stolen Base Rate; He has played the equivalent of 2 MLB full seasons throughout the minor leagues career (319 games) and these are his averages per season. His K rate is also super high but his production numbers will look good in MN some day soon. I really like this 22 year old.
  5. I don't like having to hire a Molitor or any other returning coach from the system as an add on for a new outside hire (manager). Whoever they hire should have his guys with him. People he can trust and truly depend on. IMO. Fresh start has to mean fresh start.
  6. I understand there are diversity issues based on lack of numbers in the Twins coaching and managerial positions with minorities. Can you guys name any minority employees within the system who actually coach at any level? Do you guys feel that diversity is an important aspect moving forward to any new regime? Not neccesarily as the manager, but within the coaching ranks at the MLB and Minor league levels.
  7. Why spend $19,500,000 more on an outfielder when you have a guy in your system who would cost you $500,000. We will be good next year, but could be great in 2016. You have a guy in your system who has averaged 33 Home Runs & 124 RBI & 27 Doubles & 6 Triples & 102 Runs Scored per season when adjusting his numbers to two - 162 game schedules throughout his minor league career. He is only 22 years old and is the only position player in the system to be a Mid Season and Post Season All Star over the last 2 years. He will do what Kemp and Crawford give you but in his own dynamic way. Adam Brett Walker II - For all his flaws - No one is basebal has a better winning percentage as him over the last 3 seaons. And there are maybe a handful who have his poduction numbers over that (2 year) 162 game average. POINT: Before you sell the ranch and Seabusciut (not stature but in terms of doubters -lol) you better check your own stables again. 82% stolen base rate too. Just saying - Despite his flaws................I can say firmly - There are very few better in the minors based on production numbers. Is the gamble worth $19,500,000 more and a contract you can't get rid of when our prospects come on like the Dodgers have? DO NOT TRADE FOR AN OUTFIELDER
  8. How many years do you have to be with an organization before they have to put you on the 40 Man Roster? Goodrum I read is suppose to go on this year. When does Harrison go on? and does it matter if you are a college draftchoice or high school draft choice? Or International signee?
  9. My question is - When the Twins do promote the up and coming prospects - Will they be patient or Send them back down to AAA as soon as they run into trouble? The problem with Major league trouble is that it can't be replicated in AAA. Sometimes you have to have trial by error and that can result in more down years by the time some of them come up to the MLB level. Can they afford to bring all their needed pieces one at a time or Are they better off bringing SANO; BUXTON; ROSARIO; BERRIOS; BURDI; Z. JONES; POLANCO; ETC.; all up together? MEYER and MAY should be there by opening day (I'm assuming), or they can be part of the Movement as well. This way they can go thru those trials and tribulations together and grow together. I think fans would come to games (fixing attendance) and appreciate the movement at least despite possible results They could see the potential like the Vargas; Santana; and Arcia of this year and truly believe in their hearts that things are changing. I see a Mid Season Movement if the Twins are to retain a loyal fan base. Ready or Not Here They Come - {Strictly Business} So regardless to who owns the Twins - What is the plan when the so called "Future" does arrive at Target Field? What are the EXPECTS?

  11. With the long list of power prospects in the system, will the production outweigh the droughts considering so many have strikeout issues? Arcia; Sano; Vargas; Plouffe; Parmelee; Dozier; Pinto; Buxton; Etc.; Etc.; Can you win this way? The Yankees held the best record in the league in 2011 (I believe), while registering 220+ home runs and tons of K's.
  12. Adam Brett Walker's career minor league numbers based on a full 162 (MLB) game schedule would average / reflect like so: 34 HRs per season 135 RBI per season 108 Runs Scored per season 68 Extra Base Hits per season 48 Walks / BB per season 176 Ks per season .259 BA .484 SLG % .796 OPS ------------------------------------------ This is minor league numbers based on minor league pitching of course, but that is what all prospects should be based on. The level that they are at! and The production they distribute at that level. Each level provides new challenges and you never know how those individuals will handle that next level. Look at the success Santana and Vargas are having. Besides their OBP - Nothing predicted they would have this kind of success so early. Sometimes you have to throw kids into the deep end and see if they can swim. We have more than enough life guards on duty. I agree with Seth - "This kid has so much potential and he's only 22". Not many prospects in any system have his power and/or production numbers in their minor league careers. And he wins: 2010 Licking County Settlers (Summer ball) 1st ever championship team history 2011 Cape Cod Hyannis Harbor Hawks 1st Championship in 23 years 2012 Appalachian League Champion - Elizabethton Twins 2013 Cedar Rapid Kernels - Best Record in Minor League Baseball (No Buxton) 2014 Ft. Myers Miracle 1st FSL Championship in 22 year existence (No Buxton) I'm sure he'll keep proving people wrong and playing with a chip on his shoulder all the way to the Show. He didn't deserve top billing on this list. I'm just glad he made it where he did.
  13. Consider the talent New Britain will start with in 2015 - If all reach their potential - What would be your line up in MN come 2017? Speed line up? / Defensive line up? / Power Line up? What is your coaching style? Buxton CF Polanco SS Rosario 2B Sano 3B Walker RF Harrison LF D. Hicks 1B Turner C Michael DH Consider - Arcia / Vargas / Santana / Pinto / Hicks / Mauer / Dozier
  14. Doug has that "it" factor. Been there done that - that kids will listen to. The veterans just need to keep being veterans (professionals). They don't need the same spunky type of coach as the younger players do. They should know how to do things the right way already. I like Doug as the Spunky fit and Mauer as the rationale communicator. Why not both. You always need assistants to get to the players you can't as a Manager. Some players need a fire lit under that ass and others need logical communication to make them see the errors of their ways. I like both working together.
  15. Just Ask Ray Rice. Sometimes you are lucky to bounce back and sometimes you're not.
  16. What a crew. Congrats to the Miracle and the coaching staff. 2 Championships and the best record in baseball the year they missed out. What a Crew Can't wait for 2015.
  17. Gruver left yesterdays game with shoulder injury. He immediately showed pain according to Brice Zimmerman. Great win by the MIracle. Harrison was amazing and Dalton HIcks is probably the most underrated prospect in the system. Great around the bag at 1st and argueably the most clutch player the Twins have when it comes to big games. He is a P T P er. I heard Brett Lee might get the nod tonight. That's what was posted a few days ago. IMO it will probably be Hermsen and bullpen. Win by committee tonight (BJ Hermsen / Tyler Jones / Madison Boer) They are the only pitchers who haven't pitched yet. Gotta give them a chance to help team win. They were big part of the win total for the year. This is my guess.
  18. That crew of Hicks; Harrison; Walker; Goodrum; and Kepler, sure know how to make things exciting in the Playofffs. 3 Years running. Harrison has 4 doubles in 3 games in the playoffs. .417 BA Hicks has a double and home run in the playoffs. .333BA Goodrum hasn't had the playoff success of the others, but they wouldn't be in playoffs without his speed and defensive pressence. Kepler has 1 double and a .386 OBP in the playoffs. Walker has 1 home run and 1 double. He also is leading the team with a .444 BA and .615 OBP. Not bad for a guy batting 7th in the line up. If it ain't broke don't fix it I guess? Somebody will have to explain that to me someday? 7th? It was a Jacksonville University evening with both Tomshaw and Walker leading the fireworks. The Team leaders in Wins and Home Runs respectively are both from the same college (JU / Jacksonville University). For a small university, they seem to produce some decent talent.
  19. Good article. I'd like to know if history shows Sano and Walker (2 of the better minor league sluggers) having the same problems as they move thru the system. If they do - How many guys on the team can you have with the same problem. Or does that just make you more dangerous down the line up. Thought process being somebody is going to drive in runs each night because everybody can't be off on the same day. And when they are on ....................................................
  20. That crew of Hicks; Harrison; Walker; Goodrum; and Kepler, sure know how to make things exciting in the Playofffs. 3 Years running. 21. I agree in regards to Peterson. Can't leave him off the great job list. He has been exceptional for the Miracle.
  22. Congrats to the Miracle. 1st playoff win in over a decade. Kanzler was phenomenal. When the lights are on: *Hicks with game winning RBI *Walker with 4 BB & 0 Ks when the team had 14 Ks overall *the K brothers did their thing in innings 8&9. And Johnson was great too. *Kepler stayed hot into September.
  23. Walker is only 22 BTW. The crazy part is he is listed as the number #2 hitter for the month of August by Twins Daily and he gets placed 7th in the line up in tonights playoff game. Lead your league in HRs - RBI - Total Bases while placing 1st on your team in Hits and 2nd in Runs Scored and your manager places you 7th in the most importaqnt game of the year. I'm sorry Seth - As a whole this kid gets no love from the organization. 7th? I'm talking 7th? BTW - he is 0 for 0 with 3 Walks through 5 innings and 2 runs scored. Game in Rain Delay 7 - 7 score.
