  1. Matt Tomshaw has been the most dominant pitcher for the miracle this year. He does not have the Berrios flare or Meyer stature, but he does have thier ability to pitch. His assortment of pitches and impecable control have led to his 6th victory in a row. He also has a pitch that no one else in the system can throw and that is "The Thing" (Knuckler). That becomes the equivalent to a 95 MPH pitch -especially if it has good movement. Everybody can hit a 95 MPH if its straight at these levels. That pitch alone should move him onto the Prospect radar . I'm looking for a good arguement against my rationale? Tomshaw outdueled an All Star pitcher from Lakeland Tigers last night and again helped the Miracle avoid a 3 game losing streak. Whenever the Miracle lose 2 in a row - Tomshaw has been the one to stop the bleeding. He is a big game pitcher. He is also second in the FSL with a WHIP of 0.99 Tomshaw tames Flying Tigers in 4-3 victory Walker homers, Tomshaw earns sixth straight win http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20140607&content_id=78754746&fext=.jsp&vkey=recap&sid=t509
  2. The hitch on Walker was he would not be able to utilize his power as he moved up the ranks because of his pitch recognition. Now his pitch recognition still needs work, but he has also shown that his power works as well. Can a man who has a high K rate and low BB rate be successful even if he leads his league in HRs and RBI and TB every year? or even amongst the leaders in those categories. Do you still think his lack of a strong OBP will become more detrimental to overall team makeup as opposed to his benefits with his run production? This is who the experts said he would be if he was successful - [.260 BA with power]
  3. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/gametracker/recap/MLB_20140329_MIN@BOS Always remember playing and scoring in your Call Up game this past spring training. Those are the moments that make the journey worth while. Great reading your articles and a pleasure following your gritty utility style of play. You are the definition of a hard nosed "Ball Player" - Enjoy your new ride??????
  4. Walker and 3 Miracle Teammates Make FSL All Star Game http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20140603&content_id=78000472&fext=.jsp&vkey=news_t509&sid=t509
  5. FSL notes: Walker continues to wallop Miracle slugger undaunted by Florida circuit's challenging conditions http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20140604&content_id=77990800&fext=.jsp&vkey=news_milb&sid=l123 Walker hit his League leading 13th HR last night at Hammond Stadium in Fort Myers. The Florida State League is the most difficult League to hit HRs at. That covers all "A" ball Leagues thru the Major Leagues.
  6. The FSL is the hardest league to hit HRs in from "A" ball thru the Majors. Walker has impressed so far, at least in that category. He produces when statistics say he shouldn't. 7. Ricky Weeks on the first place Brewers (benched) Jon Jay............................Possibly Soon It happens...........
  8. What makes you believe that either Kepler or Harrison are better outfielders? Walker is faster than both and just because Kepler plays CF doesn't neccesarily make him a better outfielder. Walker produces so much more than either Harrison or Kepler on a yearly basis. Don't get me wrong - I love both Harrison & Kepler alot. However, all Walker does is lead his leagues in HRs and RBI every year. Until he proves your future projections wrong - I'll take the chosen All Star. If you're not sure what type of OF Walker is - listen to the games more. He runs and roams his position rather well. Colabello had outstanding minor league numbers and played exceptional in April, but not May (MLB). There is no exact science. But this much I know for sure: Walker Avg. 2B 3B HR RBI TB BB SO OBP SLG .251 08 00 13 48 104 16 66 .301 .460 Harrison Avg. 2B 3B HR RBI TB BB SO OBP SLG .273 17 01 01 29 76 25 41 .352 .384 Kepler Avg. 2B 3B HR RBI TB BB SO OBP SLG .218 05 04 02 23 53 19 29 .317 .340 Team Statistical Leaders are important, but League Leaders Win more.
  9. We just drafted Niko Goodrum Part II = (but maybe with more power). You heard it here first
  10. There is no excuseable way that Garver should not have made the All Star team: Garver - Cedar Rapids (HOW DOES HE NOT START) .308 BA - .393 OBP - 14 2B - 1 3B - 7 HR - 37 RBI - 54 Games Remillard - Kane County (RESERVE for ALL STAR GAME) .319 BA - .382 OBP - 12 2B - 0 3B - 1 HR - 25 RBI - 35 Games Littlewood - Clinton (STARTER for ALL STAR GAME) .286 BA - .383 OBP - 10 2B - 0 3B - 4 HR - 24 RBI - 34 Games Garver is the best catcher in the league hands down. UNREAL

  12. It is a shame that Polanco didn't make the All Star team. He has pretty much carried the team thru the first half of season. I also thought Tomshaw was a legitimate option.
  13. Congrats to the 4 FSL Miracle All Stars http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20140603&content_id=78000472&fext=.jsp&vkey=news_t509&sid=t509
  14. What is wrong with the website this year? Not 1 Photo or Video this season. No interviews. There is not a single video highlight of any play this season in Fort Myers. It is as though the season may have never existed to this point. The surprising part is no one seems to care but me. Who are these prospects and what do they look like? CR Kernels post 100's of photos from each game on there Facebook page. Who is in charge of exposure for the club? Maybe if people knew what the product was they would actually attend more games.
  15. Walker makes Honorable Mention on Twins Daily "Hitters of the Month" (May). He showed solid production but can still improve his OBP and BA.. The selections ahead of him were very good choices as well. .262/.296/.524 (.821) with six doubles, seven homers and 20 RBI. Don't forget to read article Seth recommends (above) from David Dorsey on Adam Brett Walker II - I agree (Tremendous Read)- Click link below http://www.news-press.com/story/spor...racle/9824837/
  16. Colabello and Parmelee mess it up for Vargas, because he is another payer who has possibly earned a promotion.
  17. I agree on there not being obvious choices this year. The only sure fire ones to me should be Ortiz; Tomshaw; Rodriguez and Oliveros. I also think that Murphy is worth keeping since he is argueably the next best defender in the outfield (range and arm) to Buxton.
  18. Does that mean that the selections are more political and prospect influenced IYO? I would like for both of those guys to make it as well. Does age ever play into the selections at the lower levels? There are several 26 year olds who are having excellent seasons in the FSL from other teams. Has that detered selections in the past?
  19. With the minor league all star games approaching - Whom do you see making their respective League All Star Games? Several non top prospects are having excellent seasons. Rochester: New Britain: Fort Myers: Cedar Rapids:
  20. The Rock Cats could use an offensive upgrade: *Nate Roberts (Great OBP when healthy) or Lance Ray (Big years in 2011 & 2012 Beloit) if they can return to old form. *They would also benefit from a future middle infieldof Rosario and Polanco (both excellent top of the order hitters). Set up men for Vargas. *They could also use an upgrade in the power threat area of Mike Gonzalez (DH) or AB Walker. *Kepler could be an option since he is on the 40 man - If there's a rush Curious to see who moves up to AAA and AA in the next few weeks if anyone?
  21. Matt Tomshaw is one of my Adopt a Prospects. I've been a fan for a few years and have always believed in his approach to pitching. Crafty - Smart - 4 Very Good Pitches to keep hitters off balanced - Marksman (Control) - Lefty - Never Rattled!!! He needs and deserves a move up after he All Star Game. Great Pick Seth - Seems I didn't need to campaign after all. Well Deserved
  22. Love 1988 and 1989 - Don't know many Twins fans who would turn those seasons down. Ride the horse while its still in the race. JUST WIN
  23. I agree with your assessment of his make up. Good Article.
  24. I take it the 1.88 ERA is not enough for you? Lol I'll take the winner. Pitching to contact is not always bad. If your entire staff is "pitch to contact" then I would agree with you, but it doesn't hurt to have a guy or two who knows how to throw strikes and has incredible control.
