1. I thought this was interesting: http://blogs.twincities.com/twins/2014/06/05/twinsights-twins-draft-louisville-closer-nick-burdi-in-round-2/
2. Keaton Steele: 64 h, 23 er, 18 bb, 56 k, 0 HR, 67.1 IP
3. Andro Cutura: 87 h, 23 ER, 21 BB, 99 K, 2 HR, .219 BAA in 106 IP (16 starts / 16 appearances)
4. We don't yet know what the Twins are going to do with them though. Specifically Burdi and Cederoth. If they just plug em into the bullpen next year, that is some awfully fast cash.
5. I feel like there was a time, not too long ago, where the Twins might have jumped to get the soft tossing lefthanded son of Charlie Leibrandt.
6. John Curtiss: 26 h, 13 BB, 28 K, 0 HR, .200 BAA in 36.1 IP
7. Sam Clay: 38 h, 29 BB, 64 K, 0 HR, .197 BAA, only 1 XBH allowed in 57.0 IP
8. Its only 3 picks. Maybe guys are falling off the board such that there's always a college reliever on the top of their board?
9. He's maybe the 4th or 5th best reliever on the Ducks, just by peripherals. Sort of a head scratcher to me too
10.

Player era app-gs ip h er bb so hr ab b/avg Reed, Jake 1.95 31-0 37.0 22 8 15 34 1 121 .182

11. Wasn't there a Soul Calibur character named Cederoth? Dude just sounds like a closer.
12. Is his command that bad? His K/BB ratio is 58/10 in 33.1 innings.
13. Great. Can't wait to face t his guy 4-5 times / year for the next 10 years.
14. Ok no surprise there. Now it gets interesting.
15. Spencer (Berkeley): As an admitted sofa-scout who's overdosed on youtube vids, scouting reports etc. Am I insane to have Touki near the top of "my pref list"? It seems like his ceiling approaches or even exceeds Kolek and Aiken; mechanics are solid-albeit inconsistent- and the stuff's electric.. that curve... Draft Day Chat with Nick J. Faleris: Touki is a worthy top five overall target, for me. I like the growth in his game over the last 18 months, lots of projection, relatively low-mileage on the arm, and you can't teach that spin rate on the curve.
16. How much more important? If you want to compare pitchers and position players on the basis of games played, and scale to 162 games, then we just need a multiplier.
17. If you accept that starting pitching is the most important component of defense, then the value of good starting pitching is extremely high. Much higher than a single game from a single position player, and might become even more valuable as a team gets deeper into the playoffs.
18. This doesn't speak directly to your point but Tobi and I did a few laps in the Draft thread on this. I'll re-post what I posted there.
19. Junior at Hartford. He gets comps to Jon Lester. 6'5 240, lefthanded, throws 90-94 according to the MLB draft board. Slider, Curve, changeup. He had an impressive run (30 innings?) without allowing an ER this spring.
20. I am not privy to all the details on this topic but found this link informative: http://consumerist.com/2014/02/23/netflix-agrees-to-pay-comcast-to-end-slowdown/
21. Where did you hear? I can't find anything on MLBTR. Would love to swing a deal though.
22. It was interesting to hear Terry Ryan talk about drafting commodities earlier this week. He mentioned lefthanded pitching, and there's no doubt good lefthanders are valuable. But, I also think you have to take what's given to you. The strength of this draft still seems to be high school pitching. Maybe the best course of action is to play to the pool's strength, and take the best high school arm available at 5, rather than targeting specific profiles. They would probably have their choice of everyone except Brady Aiken. But, the others are all righthanded.
23. Obviously its like Rick Anderson said - after a year the National League will figure out Liriano, stop swinging and just let him walk the runs in.
24. Screw wildcard. Right now the Twins are closer to winning their division than the 2nd place Orioles, 2nd place Angels, and 2nd place Dodgers. They are as close to winning the ALC as the Cardinals are to winning the NLC. They are 100% in this thing.
25. I like Gordon more than I did a few weeks ago, mainly because I found his 2014 stats (5 HRs and .6xx batting average in 28 games IIRC).His upside doesn't appear to be completely reliant on "athleticism" or "projection" (2 codewords I shy away from). Instead he seems to be more skilled, now. And I suspect that's why he shot up the boards this spring. But his stock is still pretty reliant on projection. Compare Gordon to the college position players in his tier - Pentecost, who had an active 36 game hitting as of last week, and gets high marks for defense at a premium position Schwarber, who hit .358/.464/.659 and is a finalist for the Johnny Bench award, Trea Turner, who finished the year pretty strong (and is also expected to stick at SS) But besides all that, I just find the pitchers in the 5-10 tier a lot more interesting. Holmes, Toussaint, Freeland, & Newcomb in particular.
