  1. It is definitely a conundrum. Chris deserves a chance to play everyday. But at least for next year, Justin still seems to be in the teams plans for the future. Outfield is not Chris' strongest position and not having Span and Revere in there at the same time weakens the defense considerably in my opinion. Ideally Revere would be moved to center with Span either traded or in right, but I understand that this lessens Spans trade value. The question in my mind is this. Is Parmalee capable of being better in the next few years than Justin will be? If yes, than we trade Justin in the next year, until then platoon Parmalee with the outfield and first base. If no, I think we trade Parmalee. Sano seems like a likely candidate for first in the future anyway.
  2. Need to get this post back on the front page.
  3. I'm in. COtwin-Nathan Wood
  4. Great work Parker. I love analysis like this. A couple questions. Is the data that shows Mauer's decline pitcher irrelevant. It seems like compared to Mauer's prime we have had a lot of guys throwing in high 80s low 90s. As opposed to low to mid 90. Santana, Baker, Garza, etc. That seems like it would play a roll. Also it looks like several of our pitchers are slow to very slow to home. Thoughts?
  5. It looks like Liam can put it together up here.
  6. Sheer obstinacy. I just watched today's game and I logged in to see if Gray was DFAd. He is still getting chances after nine home runs given up. Free Slama! Although we are probably what is keeping him down. Can't have the possability that the unwashed masses might be right on this .
  7. 6 and 21. In the playoffs. That says it all. He is an average manager who at times has gotten his teams to play well. But never has he excelled when it mattered most. What's the point of keeping someone around who can't get is to the series much less help us win it all. Gardy was supposed to be the fiery one compared to TK. But every year since 01? we have gone out with a whimper.
  8. I somewhat disagree. It's going to be a real challenge to fill four rotation spots in one offseason. Say you have Diamond and Hendriks filling the first two spots. You add a decent FA for the third spot, maybe even the fourth spot if you get a guy in a trade. That still leaves one spot open to fill. Given the "prospects" on the team after Hendriks, I'd just as soon see Deduno get a shot as anyone else on the roster. Agree. With how often we have let average or worse pitchers with average or worse stuff try to pull it together, Deduno should definitely be in the picture for next year. Lets say Diamond, Hendriks, and only one decent free agent. 2 spots remaining for Deduno, Hernandez, Devries, Walters, maybe Vasquez, Baker remote chance. Deduno has to be in the picture. He pitches fairly deep into games and doesn't saddle the team with big deficits. Sure only 25% of a seasons work, but we let way worse (results) pitchers go to the mound day after day. Marquis, Blackburn, Gray (RP so what), Pavano. Deduno has a much higher ceiling (IMO) than any of the 4 just mentioned, and probably higher than a couple of the others he'd be battling.
  9. I completely disagree. We have watched many prospects struggle with the transition from the minors to majors. With how long it takes to prepare someone for the bigs you would be doing everyone a disservice by not giving multiple chances to succeed. Especially in this case as pitching is an incredible weakness for the Twins and we have plenty of low pressure games remaining on the schedule. I agree with getting Vasquez and Hernandez up as well. Rotation of Diamond, Deduno, Devries, Vasquez, Hernandez, and Walters (when he returns). If a 5 man rotation is desired lets split Devries and Diamond starts. We should be looking to ease his innings anyway. Slama needs to be up soon. When is Gray getting DFA'd?
  10. Gardy is weak. We hit like crap yesterday. Maybe that was on Diamond.
  11. I hate autocorrect on these dang smart phones.
  12. I think he has shown an extraordinary ability to execute his pitches when he needs to. OR his pitches are unhitable AND down in the zone. Regardless I think he needs to be able to start to be effective. Seems like he could just come in and walk the bases loaded. He needs the longer leash given to a starter, so he can fix his mistakes. Hopefully this is a focus think and he can get squared away. So refreshing so see someone be unhurt able again. Think if Frankie had had his ability for damage control, dang.
  13. Who do we lose as an organization so we can keep him on the 40-man?
  14. [h=1]Jamey Carroll Might Be Best Option[/h] Isn't there some kind of rule on this site about vulgar language? 2B is Dozier and Florimon starts season at SS. We already know what Carroll can do, or Scutaro or (insert journeyman with Hobbit Hole ceiling). Shoot I wouldn't mind seeing Mastro try second out in the next few weeks.
  15. I can agree with you and even think it was the right choice. BUT. Things need to get different quickly in the next few weeks. No more playing Carroll or bringing up guys that don't factor in. I want the end of this season to be about finding answers and clearing wasted roster spaces. We need to know who our bench bats are going to be going forward as well as a few of the obvious starting openings. Can Parm play OF? Is some sort of rotation at C/DH/1/Lf(should be Rf possible to get Doumit, Parm, Morneau, Mauer, and Willy roughly the same AB next year? Is Casilla done? Is Carroll worth the price or do we have a cheaper, younger alternative? I want to see guys with higher ceilings. This is the time where losing some games actually helps us. We shouldn't be experimenting in April next year.
  16. I want to see an infield of Plouffe , florimon, morneau, and dozier(sept 1). I am still a believer in dozier but I think he is ultimately going to end at second so let's see him play there and establish some comfort. Casilla should get the time at second till then. Make a final call on him. If Carroll plays more than 1 or 2 times a week the rest of the season I am going to pull the rest of my hair out. Outfield is kinda strange to call. Span is hurt at the worst time. He should be showcased right now but instead we have filler in Carson. I want to see revere in center or left and parmalee in right. I am not sure how thrilled I should be with his defense anywhere. I would like us to also see if the mastroianni at second is legit. If he can be trusted there at all then he should be a super utility guy in future. I also want to replace butera with a solid bat on bench. Let's see how mauer and doumit handle the load. Pitching. I have no clue other than Brian is a bullpen pitcher only. Would like to see diamond and deduno finish strong. Cole can't last. Neither can nick. If Liam can pull it together we have to find two front enders
  17. No way Carroll should be starting. He is beat used as a utility guy who can get on base some. Playing everyday just maximizes the negative affect his bat can have in the lineup. He is also a fairly expensive utility guy.
  18. Amen. Baker has been up and down with injuries but we would be crazy to not offer some sort of safe incentive laden contract. he has the ability to bring it when healthy and what he is capable of is far better then the rummage sale guys like marquis or Hernandez.
  19. I know it's livan. Stupid spell check.
  20. I agree. We either news to be players in FA 2 quality SP. Or. We need to make some offseason trades and hasten the rebuilding. The problem is the FO can't decide which way to go. But at this point all of us would rather watch some young guys try to figure it out and post a crappy record than watch a bunch of guys in their prime waste a season because the moves that were made were marginal at best and failed. For every first twins year pavano this FO has a Logan Hernandez, Sydney ponson, pavano third year, Jason marquis, etc. These low risk low reward guys are actually adding up to high risk cause the season ends up sunk.
  21. Belt, rather parm. Hembree, don't we have like nine of those? Kickham, not 1.3 whip and low two era, lots of walks on aa. Bit exactly a fast rising star. Crick is a hard throwing k machine but walks 6 per 9. Same whip and era as kickham in a ball this year. Not super impressive to me.
  22. Belt meh. Hembree meh. Crick or kick ham could be interesting but both have ok whips and lots of walks. Crock definitely a power k arm but not at that price.
  23. Jim Jim Jim. You must not have a very high opinion of your readers intelligence. The twins give up two high quality players, one of which should have been an all-star. And two "wild cards" with massive upside, one capable of MVP caliber play and the other capable of becoming a legit ace. You are selling this as a trade that benefits both buyer and seller? Laughable.
  24. I feel like I am crazy here. There has to be something wrong with our med staff. Right?
