  1. It's definitely making me jam out to a Stranger Things playlist at work.
  2. Maybe we can. But Schwartz or Faedo isn't a bad consolation prize if we continue to be stuck in the mire.
  3. I think they're kind of grooming Dunn for a Marcus Smart/Avery Bradley role this year, at least from the two Summer League games he played. It would surprise me if the Wolves best defensive line-up didn't involve Dunn and Rubio somehow.
  4. I'd say it better this way. I've been doing a Twins shadow draft since 2008. In that time, the Twins have drafted two pitchers with a career WAR over 1 (Gibson and Duffey). I have five, and I'm just an idiot with a BA subscription. Calling the Twins middle of the pack is misleading. They've been downright awful the last nine years (aka, guys who should be coming into their prime). The whole game of thinking that college relievers weren't relievers for a reason is what really held this team back.
  5. Phlegmman for GM!
  6. Tyus Jones: Summer League MVP. Who knew?
  7. I'd bet there's a move to get another wing, with either Pek taking a medical retirement or Payne getting cut to open a roster space. Eight power forwards and centers does seem a little excessive, unless someone like Dunn is going to get some minutes at the 2.
  8. Thoughts through two summer league games: 1. Dunn's defense is pretty much as advertised. His midrange game is pretty decent too. 2. Dunn isn't Rubio good yet. Too foul prone and too turnover prone. I think his shooting percentage will be pretty Rubio esq in the regular season. 3. I like the Jones and Dunn backcourt. And I think Dunn and Rubio are going to coexist on the court a lot next year. Rubio/Dunn/Lavine/Wiggins/Towns would be a fun fast break to watch. 4. Jones really has come a long way and he serves a purpose. He's going to be our best shooting point guard next year. 5. Payne is playing for his career. And right now, it looks like he'll need a passport to play on his next team. 6. Outside of those three, it really isn't much of a team. I had hopes for Coty Clarke, but he has been invisible. We still have one more roster spot, and someone needs to step up and claim it.
  9. Kris Dunn trending on Twitter after his first game. Not a bad start.
  10. Twenty minutes a game. But the best defensive RPM of any player in the league at any position, the only Warrior with a sub-100 defensive rating and the best defensive DAPM in the playoffs in the league. The series with Cleveland turned when Bogut went out with his knee injury because it suddenly became easier for LeBron and Kyrie to score in the paint. Offense is good, and no team in the league has as much firepower as Golden State with Thompson, Curry and Durant. But there are times when you have to win through defense. I like the Warriors. But I also remember a Mavs fan friend of mine telling me it wasn't that big of a deal when Tyson Chandler left. Bogut leaving feels like a similar move. If it were my move, I would've moved on from Iggy over Bogut.
  11. To me, the elephant in the room is the Warriors were a great two-way team last year that gave up their best defender in Bogut to make Durant happen. They're a much better offensive team now and Durant is a huge leap forward from Barnes. But replacing what Bogut brought to the table is no easy task. And for all the death line up talk, the Dubs were far better when Bogut was on the court. They're the favorites to win it. But I think they're a weaker team with Durant than last year. At the very least, they're not as good of an all-around team. And a squad built around a good post piece like Boogie Cousins or dare I say KAT might pose a real matchup problem for them.
  12. I don't think Aldrich was the way we expected them to start free agency. But a defensive center on par with Biyombo to anchor the second unit defense at a fraction of Biyombo's price isn't a bag thing.
  13. I guess the bright side is next year is going to be a better year to have cap space in free agency than this one.
  14. Good defense and versatility he'd give the line up. He could be a small ball four with Lavine and Wiggins or a pick and roll lockdown wing defender with Wiggins at the 2 and Dieng at the 4. Bazemore is the other rumor and he's a better shooter with good defense, but it puts Lavine on the bench more and costs more money long term.
  15. I think it's more comparable to a right handed rotation version Perkins or Guardado to the potential of a right hand Perkins or Guardado in the pen. May's stuff and command are a little suspect as a starter. But the velocity bump makes him potentially lights out in pen.
  16. Doogie podcast: It makes me happy they're not likely to give away Rubio. I'm kind of coming around to the idea of standing pat, although the idea of a front-loaded three year Luol Deng deal is intriguing. Targets he lists: Ryan Anderson Courtney Lee Luol Deng Joakim Noah DJ Augustin Kris Humphries Mindaugas Kuzminskas Rumored not interested in Batum, Marvin Williams, Jamal Crawford
  17. I put him in position to be my closer in 2017. He could be lights out there and he's too old to take the time and risk to stretch him back out.
  18. Woooo! https://twitter.com/AdamReisinger/status/746078009774444544
  19. In a medical retirement, Pek gets paid his money and comes off the cap one year after he played his last game. Everyone wins.
  20. I would guess Pek takes a medical retirement and his contract comes off the books in February. I wouldn't give up an asset for a bad power forward fit to get rid of it.
  21. I'm not saying Love's defense is good. I'm saying Faried's bad defense is why Denver wants to move him.
  22. Faried is a worse defender than Love who can't shoot or pass.
  23. I think you're off on the versatility Love offers this team offensively. Essentially you have two bigs who can score inside and outside, hit free throws, make excellent passes and crash the boards offensively in Towns and Love. The only interior tandem who stands much of a chance defensively is Duncan/Aldridge if Duncan comes back. Towns exploited Green offensively as a mismatch in the two March games. Throw in Love and the Warriors wouldn't know what hit them. If they tried to stop Love, Towns would tear them apart and vice versa. You give up defense at the power forward position. But you're heading toward the Don Nelson equal parts lineup that's near impossible to defend. Granted, it's a lesser defensive lineup than ideal. But it's a thousand times preferable to a lineup with Okafor, who needs to be in the paint, both offensively and defensively. You're not going to get Green (or Porzingis). Other guys who might be available (Horford, Milsap, Favors) have their own set of flaws essentially on offense. Every player has his flaws. Love is no different. But his strengths married with Towns could create a very unstoppable offense.
  24. I think the flaw in that is Love is a better perimeter pick and roll defender that Towns, and Towns is a better rim protector than Okafor. Love is at his best when he plays next to a center who can block shots, as opposed to a Pek or Tristan Thompson. And the flaw with Dieng and Towns was that in an ideal world both are more true 5s defensively. A guy like Okafor wrecks the defense and offense, because he's not very versatile. Granted, if I could pick anyone to pair with Towns I go Porzingis. But Love with a reasonably decent defensive 3 is a more reasonable scenario. I'm still hoping Bender makes it to five.
