  1. It doesn't tell me anything. And it doesn't tell anyone else anything either. There are lots of things that we don't know, but most of us don't forge ahead as if we did
  2. I think Matt is a placeholder and nothing more. And for all we know, Molly is the one wanting Matt around. I don't get Belisle either. But you seem to be trying to prove the rule by the exception. I like most of the FO's moves the last two years. Belisle, yeah I am kind of with you on that one.
  3. The answer is No. The FO put the team in position to contend, strengthening the rotation and bullpen, but injuries and regression prevented that. It happens. So I disagree completely with your perspective. Now they just turned a bunch of guys with two months left on their contracts into a bunch of young prospects, including a guy that throws over 100 mph.... and some major league ready guys, including a RH hitting 1b man to spell Joe. These guys are smart and patient and know what they are doing.
  4. I tell ya I get no respect, no respect at all. I went up to a big leaguer before a game. I asked him to autograph a baseball. He wrote somebody ELSE's name on it.
  5. I never like losing a game but the way we lost was classic. Bute hit a beaut.
  6. JZ, nice write up. I'd rather have Erv healthy than Archer. And I hope the Twins exercise their option on him. Pineda has a shot too, so it is not that bleak a picture. If those guys come back strong, we got plenty pitchers. Berrios, Gibby, Odor, Erv, Pineda, Not terrible. Add Romero, Gonsalves and Mejia, and we have plenty candidates barring injury... Ahhh but that injury thing. Meanwhile back at the ranch (I mean bullpen ) I'd like to see the kids come up and take their shot. I mean, just when is a Jake Reed supposed to make his debut? Let the kids play. Let the old average arm vets go. Its past time. We don't need old guys with experience on the pitching staff. That's why we have coaches. And pitching is a young man's game. Lets see if the kids are ready.
  7. I think with Sano, he knew he was out of shape and so he tried to just make up for it with the big swing trying to hit the ball 500 feet allatime. It made for a big loopy swing that missed the ball.... well, almost allatime. I think his K/BB rate improving and HR numbers declining meshes with an attempt to make more contact. More line drives. If he does that, the HRs will come and he will benefit from making contact more regularly. In Buck's case, he was trying to pull everything so he could hit like the big kids. His game is about speed and hitting it in the gaps. I would like to see him cut down on the big swing and look to hit it the other way. Doubles to RF would be triples for Buck. Ultimately, I think both of these guys need to work on just making contact. In Miggy's case, his power will take care of itself. In Buck's case, his speed will
  8. So, a guy plays over a decade for his home town team, is a multiple time Allstar. Wins a gold glove at catcher and MVP and three batting crowns and moves to a new positions and gets a concussion. and yet you describe him as A GUY WHO CANNOT STAY HEALTHY. Wow!!!!
  9. It is called platooning. Teams do it at a lot of different positions, usually based on RH versus LH hitting players matching up against the pitcher. Think of Sano and EE as a 3b platoon if you will. Mauer and a RH hitting backup/DH would be good. Plus Joe's critics never think about how having Joe around is a stabilizing factor on the younger guys. How Joe goes about his business sets a good example in the clubhouse and Joe will hopefully be 100 percent next year.. .
  10. When he is 60? Maybe he will have 3000 hits by then.
  11. That's why there are horse races. I think that no matter what some fans think, Joe will play next year if he wants to. He will inch closer to 3000 hits, and a HOF five years from when he hangs them up. People still come to see Joe play. Even when he is sitting I'd much rather have him as a pinch hitter on his off days than anybody else we got. And speaking for myself, I just like watching Joe play.
  12. It was a huge choke. Yuge!!!!! I am looking for a Cleveland Indians voodoo doll and I am not watching any Major League movies to keep my warpath (bad choice of words) going.
  13. well, fine. But if you've been playing .480 something, then .500 IS progress, however small. But I think you might be saying it is probably (I say maybe) too little too late. Anyone remember the '69 Cubs?
  14. You could say that about any 20 games. But if the Twins go on a tear because the 1-8 falter was so embarrassing they woke up. Looking back 20 games from now, you might say that these meaningless games of yours marked a turning point. Then it could be said that the 9-2 tear was Yuge. I guess we'll see.
  15. Put down the pipe? Really? I don't know who that was directed at, but really?. Sano and Buck are not busts. They re struggling with injuries. Calling them busts is unfair. Saying they have shown nothing is untrue. Sano was an All Star last year and suffered a broken leg in the line of duty. Buck won a platinum glove and had a breakout year. This year he broke his toe and played hurt. He was playing in pain, yet he ran hard on every play. He doesn't deserve such unfair criticism. Gibson is not only a solid #2, he is pitching as well as practically everyone in the league. You say move him... for what? I say keep him... extend him for 3 years. It is a different market than when Perk was playing. That is a fair disagreement. Lot of people think Doze and EE should be traded. I am not one of them. I don't think Gordon is ready, for one thing. And I don't think this team is a bust. It just had a 9-2 homestand (although I concede it followed a 1-8 road trip). That is .500 ball over 20 games. That is a modest improvement. I don't think you throw in the towel just yet. I'd listen to offers for everyone not named Jose or Eddie. But I'd give Doze and EE QO tenders at season end. Cheer up. Things could get better quick if Sano and Buck come back strong, along with Erv.
  16. I hope they find a way to keep Dozier, Gibby, Eduardo and Joe.
  17. I would think almost all of them. First base is not where you play your leaping gazelles. But you are getting off track. Mauer has value beyond this year. I think the FO signs him to two 1 year contracts innarow. My bone with you is that you wanna throw a still good player and a Twins legend on the trash heap. I say that is unwise, disloyal and I think the FO would add....Not gonna happen.
  18. He hit a walk off grand slam tonight. If I am Doze and my days are numbered, that's how I'd like to go out.
  19. But, Doze,be quick about it. We'd hate to have those who say that you contribute nothing have to see you jog around the bases in front of God and everybody. .
  20. Like hell. Its done all the time. And with less talented guys than Joe.
  21. Sorry, but I just shake my head at that. You wanna double down on saying that Brian Dozier has contributed "Nothing of value" then I get to wonder about what you are seeing as opposed to what I am seeing. Dozier is hitting almost 300 in July. Yeah, a little late, you'd say. So I have to challenge the bias.Because you seem to want to find fault. Being 7.5 games back on July 13 is no worse than being 7.5 games behind in May. They don't give trophies for mid season success. There is still a ways to go and the Twins could make a run. But I don't understand the hate for Doze. He plays hard, and he plays every day. He is more loyal than your trusted hunting dog. And I will tell you this. He gives everything he has every day. He never dogs it on a ground out and we have all seen him dive for balls whenever.... well, whenever he needs to dive to make the play. Baseball at this level is hard. Failure is expected because it happens to most everyone 75 percent of the time. The best only hit safely 3 out of 10 times. Saying Doze is having a slow start or an off year is valid. Saying he has added nothing of value is not only unfair, but it is untrue. .
