  1. You're seriously going to extend a 31 year old Trevor Plouffe a 16m QO? Holy schnikes I have no response for that. You don't trade him because he's about to be a FA, you trade him because he'll be a 31 year old FA that has an immensely talented player behind him that plays the same position that is dirt cheap and has 5 years of control. Seriously though, a qualifying offer?
  2. You're right, it's 6 years of either of those guys so we can have 2 years of Plouffe. The trade return would have to resemble a heist for that to be justifiable.
  3. At least we held strong on Cruz!
  4. I hope the bat flips stay, awesome!
  5. Trading Kepler or Rosario for the sake of Plouffe would be the heights of stupidity. This initial, aggressive move tells me the club has big picture in mind so hopefully they do the tight thing.
  6. That is what I meant. Trading for two years of a player is always going to be more appealing than one.
  7. The rush is that he's gone after next year. His ideal value is right now, any decision after this offseason and you're slashing his value.
  8. Was trying to be as realistic as possible.
  9. Yeah, I think I'd take Appel for Plouffe. Though I'd really like to see whatever asset we get for Plouffe used to help add a catcher, but I'd take that.
  10. Frieri has a track record of being a strikeout pitcher and a pretty elite one at that. I'd just take a gamble on that. As for Milone, last year he was devastating against lefties, I think a little added velocity down there and you're talking about a damn good short-inning reliever.
  11. 1) Sign Wieters, give up the draft pick. 2) Trade Plouffe for a nice asset 3) Sign Darren O'Day and Ernesto Frieri (hoping for a bounceback) 4) Teach Danny Santana a few more positions (including 3B) 5) Sign OF De Aza 6) Brink back CF Robinson Lineup/Roster: CF Hicks 2B Dozier C Mauer 3B Sano C Wieters DH Vargas/Arcia LF Rosario SS Escobar RF De Aza (Holding a spot for Kepler or Buxton) Bench: Santana Nunez Suzuki Robinson Vargas/Arcia Rotation: Hughes Gibson Duffey May Santana Bullpen Nolasco Milone Frieri O'Day Jepsen Perkins
  12. I think the criticism that she has no real positions is valid. She basically stumps for whatever she thinks will get her money and elected. So she's a husk of a politician as far as I can tell.
  13. John Oliver is hilarous and one of the few people going after many things that need it. That includes Obama's aggressive drone strikes, abusive mega churches, mistreatment of veterans, civil forfeiture (the government just taking your stuff), Dr. Oz and a host of other things. You should consider going outside your bubble a bit on it, not everything has to be a horrible lefty spin. Oliver is taking on all the taboos. Whether you find him funny or not isn't as important as the issues he's raising. Like how your beloved millionaire Kentucky governor soaked the tax payers for money because he declined to have insurance. How much more anti-Tea Party principles can it get?
  14. Because John Oliver is funny. And because, and let's be honest, you probably wouldn't believe it if I took it straight from the Bible. Here the (I'm sure super liberal) Courant is on the story.
  15. Why does there have to be one?
  16. So draw your own conclusions. You want some other links on how he bailed out his company with government money? Not everything someone says that you don't like is a lie. Though that sort of preposterous thinking is central to the Tea Party.
  17. The Brewers have a lot of holes.....that's why they're dealing Lucroy and not so much worrying about the impact to their big league roster.
  18. This show is nothing short of masterful. If you aren't watching it, you're missing the best thing on television.
  19. If you're going to reject the idea of going after Wieters, I can understand that. Particularly if you'd prefer we spend that money on the bullpen. But rejecting it based on some fantasy of trading Plouffe for Lucroy? No, I can't understand that.
  20. I agree about that, but defaulting to Clinton is a bitter pill to swallow with it.
  21. I agree, trades that will never happen probably do look better than 4/60. Not sure where that gets us.
  22. I won't be doing any happy dances about Clinton vs Cruz. Probably more wallowing in hopelessness in that scenario.
  23. Well, no, reality says so. If you want to vote for someone that claims to be about small government while he milked the tax payers to save his failed business, then you go right ahead. Seems like exactly the WORST kind of person to put into a major office. But as has been shown time again, as long as you spout the right talking points at Tea Partyers (no matter how dumb or demonstrably false they may be) you have a chance to win an election. Seriously, the guy asked "What business does government have in marriage?" That right there is grounds for a 24/7 dunce cap on your head.
  24. Hey, at least I'm keeping them alive in my scenario!
