Brought to you from Fort Myers FL. Performances include those in the last two games vs the Rays yesterday and the Cardinals earlier this afternoon. You can read the basic premise behind the Bench Battle Dashboard here and behind the Bullpen Battle Dashboard here. At this point, there are 11 position players fighting for 3 bench sports and 9 pitchers fighting for 3 bullpen spots. I will be updating them daily and post daily updates. Players who were assigned to the minor league camp were removed from the dashboards but kept in the rankings, denoted by "(MILB)". One thing I am doing differently from now on (Because if I kept the old way these would be very hard to read and very small) is to not denote performance on a particular day (and use DNP if someone did not play) but list them sequentially. An advantage of this way of listing is to see which players played more, which means that the Twins are interested enough to have many looks. Because it is getting close to the season and the pitching staff has been somewhat of a concern, I am listing the performances of the pitchers who are "locks" to make the team, but do not include them in the rankings. 3. Seth, it looks like Morneau will be the DH, but the Twins took looks at Doumit and Hughes at 1B today. So I think the Parmelee talk is a bit premature. Another 10 games to play or so left. We'll see. Again, if Parmelee means no Butera I am so good with it
  4. Not sure how they can sign him if he thinks he can get 5 years at $10-12M per by someone by having a great year. Unfortunately the Twins are a little too late in that and they decided to put their money on Blackburn by extending him instead of Liriano a couple seasons ago.
  5. Yes - Middle infielders and Catchers should have other criteria than corner players
  6. Agree with Seth, and especially the BB/9. No matter what the competition (even little league) you got to find the plate. And he has. Some of the K's came against lesser competition of course, but today he struck out Texeira, Grandenson and ARod among others.
  7. A few more details that the Strib left out (of course) : Griffith was a full time attorney at a downtown firm and adjunct professor (i.e. came in once a while to teach maybe a class every blue moon) Griffith when his dad owned the Twins was working for the Twins and was part owner. He was the treasurer and in charge of a lot of Front Office things like Scouting and Player Development, Government Relationships and Broadcasting. He was also fundamental in the building of the Metrodome and the move of the Twins there. Not sure why the Strib conveniently avoided to mention all these things. I guess the Twins do not want bad publicity....
  8. That was a gameday error. I watched the game on YES and Towles replaced Butera at C. Hollimon replaced Burroughs at 3B for the duration of the game.

  11. Quick question about that, just out of curiocity: Was it an official MiLB ball, an official MLB ball or none of the above?
  12. I would not discount Fien either at this point. I think that Waldrop took a big step today gaining a spot, but still about a week left.
  13. Hollimon is primarily a SS, although he has played 2B, 3B, OF and very little 1B. About half his games in minors (including last season with the Rock Cats and Red Wings) were spent at SS.
  14. That ball was smoked down the line... Hollimon did not even touch it. Even the Yankee announcers said that it should had been a base hit.
  15. And Hollimon not Towles struck out
  16. no Towles C and Hollimon 3B.
  17. Parmelee swings at first pitch by Soriano and flies to RF... Lots of 1st pitch swings by the Twins today. They might just want to go home early.
  18. Holimon is at 3B Towles C
  19. Waldrop's sinker at 87-89 which is pretty true speed for him
  20. At least I thought it was his FB, unless his change is that fast and lifeless and was throwing it all the time... This could be the case, but then it is not really much of a change. He got a couple off speed pitches at mid 70s. So not sure what's up. Mariano's gun numbers were 88-89, which is pretty true. Hope Manship is ok, but he just did not have it today.
  21. Manship did not get anyone out and allowed 3 runs so far in the inning. Hollimons "error" was a smoked line drive on the 3B line. Announcers said should be a hit. Burton in. Very disappointing outing
  22. Missed a HR by 3 inches... I just do not like Manship's chances to make the team right now. That 84-86 FB velocity on the same gun that got Liriano at 94 is concerning.
  23. That was a bomb to the LF by Nunez...
  24. Manships FB is 84-86... very concerning.
