  1. His FB was that 86 that went to the stands
  2. This just in from Joe C on his updating that Baker will have an MRI: So he has been having issues with the elbow most of the spring, they diagnosed it as 'tendonitis' and 'treated it' without an MRI? Nuts!
  3. Not really. His Career numbers are: 1.423 WHIP, 4.7 K/9 and 1.4 K/BB in the National League facing pitchers. Swarzak's as a starter are: 1.451 WHIP, 5.1 K/9, 2.12 K/BB in the American League. even Duensing as a starter has 1.381 WHIP, 6.0 K/9, 2.33 K/BB Do you remember Perkins as a starter? Even he was better than Lannan (and he was awful). So the Twins have many more internal options. I suspect I'd rather see Lannan than Diamond, but that's about it...
  4. If the pen pitchers have those numbers (esp. ERAs and WHIPs) World Series there we come I think that you are a tad high on them Also I think that Hendriks' K/BB would be higher. That 2.1 would be career low at any level. And Marquis as good as Pavano? That would be cool, as long as the numbers are close to what you have. I think that Baker will be out for the season and the Twins will trade Span for a starter around July sometime. I think I'd probably expect a bit more than you do from Swarzak this season as well... Revere 1 HR, inside the park? I think that you are low on Casilla (I think that he will have better numbers -slashline- than Span this season), Luke Hughes and Ben Revere. Also the RBI totals seem a tad low. (added up is like 580some - should be higher) I do think that Morneau's , Willingham's and Mauer's OPS would probably be about .100 each higher too. Doumit seems a tad low as well. Plouffe and Parmelee are ?s to me. Hard to see how they will come out. Carroll I have no idea what to think about. Looked really slouchy to me in ST. Maybe he will pick it up.
  5. That's a priceless screencap Parker
  6. Nice Who are these guys now?
  7. Exactly... If they come through this schedule at or above .500 they will be contenders this season. It will only get easier from there. And I really do not think that the Rays will be anything special this season...
  8. I think it's too hard to tell what would be the biggest issue in 2012. On paper, both the bats and the arms seem to be a bit better than 2011. I just hope they stay healthy... I think that the pen at least with Perkins, Duensing, Capps and Swarzak there are some known quantities (as long as Gardy uses them correctly). The Baker situation is unfortunate. Blackburn and esp. Liriano seem to be doing ok (I am keeping my fingers crossed). I think that if a couple of Maloney/Burton/Gray/whatever exceed expectations and the Twins are contending, they might be smart enough to trade Span around the deadline for a front end starter. Way too much OF/CF depth in the organization right now not to take advantage of that. We'll see. I have a good feeling about this season.
  9. Still working on mine. I wanted to go see these guys at spring training before I form an opinion, esp for the guys who have not played an inning yet. And I was really surprised by a couple. For example, I thought that Travis Harrison based on the power projections etc would be a big guy, like Morneau size. Well, he isn't... Also, Arcia's body type might limit him at some point. If he keeps up with training he could be like a Maglio Ordonez type, but if he falls off the wagon... Really positively impressed by Angel Morales who I have to say is back after a misserable 2011. As far as the young arms of the organization go, Corey Williams has the nastiest stuff out there. Crazy-sinking 93 mph FBs from lefties do not grow on trees every day. He might actually be MLB-ready by next season some time. Hope they stretch him to a starter at some point. So I'll put all those thoughts together some time and make a list (or two).

  12. Per JC's twitter Ryan said that Baker "could not get loose" and decided to take him out instead of "pushing the envelope". They will re-evaluate tomorrow.
  13. If Ryan said that on the radio, he should just a. Learn to STFU and b. fire a few of the medical types... This is just too much and getting a bit too old.
  14. out of the Miracle game after he faced 3 batters. No details yet...
  15. For some reason the ump's strike zone for Verlander is about twice the cize it is for Lester. Lots of called strikes that were not strikes...
  16. Where are the Gophers playing ball these days? In the Dome?
  17. Other than Butera, this lineup is as good as any IL lineup.
  18. I've seen Cuddyer (and Kubel) do the same thing multiple times. As a matter of fact, Doumit's career UZR/150 at RF (489 innings so fairly significant) is +5.7 If he keeps that his Defense there will be a major improvement over Cuddyer (Career UZR/150 is -6.6) As a matter of fact, I would argue that with Willingham and Doumit at the corners instead of Young and Cuddyer/Kubel, the Twins will have improved outfield defense.
  19. That zucchini looks really good
  20. Kind of a funny story: We all know the quintessential "No Smoking Allowed in the Metrodome", right? Well, that was only as far as paid customers were concerned. The clubhouses, the club offices and the managers' offices were not smoke-free. As a matter of fact, Hrbie and Gaetti used to "celebrate" Twins' victories with "heaters"... It's all PR...
  21. This is an interesting topic. MLB (like any other business) is subject to FMLA but the teams are kinda screwed if that happens...
  22. He is going to New Britain. Twins just confirmed too... I think that the confusion was that Marquis (knowing where he was going) told Rosenthal and the Twins (as usually) kept their mouths shut to the beat writers of whom some assumed that he is going to Rochester. After it leaked that he is going to NB, the Twins confirmed and the beat writers wrote.
