  1. Yeah that's on Andy/Gardy
  2. Walters pitched to 4 people and they all got on base. Hard to do.
  3. Not to answer to the insults but I guess you'd rather see Thome hit a long one than the Twins win. True or False?
  4. There are several people here who were happy that Thome hit one out. Really. And many more at Target Field to give him a standing ovation. (and if someone is not disguisted by that, he/she ain't bleeding Twins' blue. Sorry)
  5. exactly. That's another reason that Andy (who made that decision) should be gone. But I guess the ones who are rooting against the Twins here (i.e the ones who are rooting for Phillies hitting HRs against the Twins) would not like that train of thought
  6. So the whole Target Field cheered for an opposing player hit a HR against the Twins. The same guy who hit one against the Twins in a game 163 a few years ago wearing a White Sox uni and made sure that the Twins did not make the post season. Yes he wore a Twins' uniform for a season and a half. But career-wise, he killed the Twins more than he helped them hands down. I find rooting for an opponent who hit a home run in your home turf unacceptable. Period. Gotta draw the line. I guess there is a "new" generation of Twins fans who don't mind losing and like to root for the Twins to lose. This might explain all the love of Gardy, Andy and Co. Maybe. I sure don't like it.
  7. More dirt came out from Gladden (on the radio broadcast) : Apparently Walters "couldn't get loose" in the pen and "alerted Andy". Andy made the decision to start him. Andy needs to go yesterday for more than this, but this is totally unacceptable. Period.
  8. If it was not Walters' call, the one who made that call while he was throwing mid 80s FB in the pen (because that's was he was throwing in the game) should be run out of town tonight big time.
  9. A couple of thoughts: Walters looks to be not himself since pitch number 1. Something is wrong. Not to take yourself out of the game and staying and pitching BP and killing your team is inexcusable. (Pavano did the same thing too). Hope this is the last day of him in a Twins' uniform. Jefferson Manship. I know there are a lot of fans here (Boras client and all), but the Twins can do better and there are more deserving arms in the minors. Tonight really sucks so far
  10. Good stuff. Sounds like a fun thing to do. Hope you stayed a couple days for a couple games as well So does this mean that Mr Butera and Mr Gray were keeping each other company?
  11. Yeah. And, if necessary, he can be a DH for the next couple seasons. Another guy who has not been mentioned is Morneau. Heck, if I were the Twins at this point, I'd take calls on everyone... But they do have that bad habit of waiting too long and selling low.
  12. I don't think many will cry if the soon to be 32 year old Burroughs is cut and Romero is up there to fill his role as a 1B/3B/DH. I don't see Burroughs having a future with the Twins at this point, so he should go his happy way and stop blocking players who can be considered somewhat of prospects.
  13. A couple of reasons: a. this team needs SPs really badly for 2013 and Span is probably the only piece who can get back a quality MLB-ready SP in a package and b. Revere is ready now and should be playing CF over Span anyways. You deal with RF in the offseason (and you have to, since they have no RF right now, just 2 CFs). Easier to find RFs than SPs.
  14. Looks like Steven Liddle got demoted (from last season) to Beloit to take Rosario's spot.
  15. It is not a big deal... really. Nothing like the Marquis contract they eaten... Roughly 5% of the $12M+ the Twins have is $600K (which is a decent amount to play with). The fine 75% of that would be $450K. Not a big deal if they are to get a quality player or 2
  16. There is a lag between last year and this year. Last year Grimes was picked and did not play (because of the singing deadline). That changed this year. Grimes was assigned to Beloit this year (his first in pro ball) and Michael to Fort Myers (his first in pro ball also) and they both suck. Hope the Twins learn a lesson that the aluminum bat numbers do not translate even closely to anything with wood. (and speaking of, another high pick Nick Lockwood was released). Gotta love them scouts.
  17. Yeah, but not enought to sign LJ Mazzilli (who is the guy who would need to sing over slot.) From what I hear from CT, he was really upset on the spot he was picked and might go back next season. Funny thing is (and I saw them both play, albeit Mazzilli painfully because of the aluminum sound) the closest comparable I have for him is Luke Hughes and he is not even that good with the bat... That $200K is not enought to sign some of the high school picks later, so it will just sit there. Wish they could sign him for $5M, and still he would have been the highest bonus baby in the draft. Oh well, Ryan et al are geniouses
  18. (*checked it) Nose... not lip Not too good and he will probably have dental issues as well. But nothing that affects the brain/balance (like a concussion) and he would be fine. Wishing him a quick recovery
  19. Let me dig on this a bit because it does not make sense. And here is why it does not make sense: as far as head bones go, you got the skull and the jaw. and below the lip is the jaw and not the face. Below the top lip they are just teeth... I know they are reporting what they are giving them, but it might be a jaw thing.
  20. Koch was drafted in 2011 from college... and played a handfull of games in Etown. So this is practically his first Pro season. Rams is still very young, was a high school draftee. Not catching any more and not sure what's up with him these days.
  21. just hope the kid is alright. Sounds like a freak thing
  22. thanks. I did not know that Mazzilli reminds me a lot of someone the Twins let go: Luke Hughes
  23. Here are his numbers. ESPN's unfortunately include his numbers while on rehab at High A Dunedin. I suspect that he will kill at Fort Myers too
  24. Power? Any idea of 37 year old Vlad's numbers this season? .214/.233/.286 0 HRs in AAA Vegas of the Pacific Coast League. That's Nishi kind of power On the other hand, I would love it if the Twins signed him and gave him a spot in Rochester to make the natives shut up about the Twins not giving them star quality players
  25. Yeah. I see no reason that Sano (and Rosario and a couple more) should not be in high A instead of Beloit.
